Back to reality for Port. Looks like they played their grand final last week and tonight is the let down. They can't do a thing right unlike last week. The same could be said of us last week after our win over the Swans.

Makes a difference of course when the opposition applies pressure and runs hard. The only difference to us last week is the scoreboard tonight is flattering Port thanks to Freo's misses. Freo should be 10 goals up already with 76% of the game being played in their forward half.

Seems their plan B is work/run harder, play on at all costs and make Freo pay for keeping Port in it on the scoreboard with their bad misses in the first half.

Yeah, I waiting for this  :-[  ;D. Well done to Port as they completely turned it around in the second half but the game should have been over at half-time. Freo totally dominated that first half and in particular the second quarter which was playing almost entirely in Freo's forward half. But as they say bad kicking is bad footy and they kept Port in it on the scoreboard. Hinkley tried to make out after the game that it was Port's defence that kept them in it but the reality was Freo missed sitter after sitter. Freo should had been 10 goals up at half-time as I said at the time and that's why this loss will be absolutely guttering to Freo. Very similar to the 2008 Grand Final where Geelong dominated the first half but couldn't kick straight and then Hawthorn ran over them in the second half. The problem for Freo and Ross Lyon is they may have blown their last chance at a flag with this playing group.

Fantastic second half from Port but last night proved once again that bad kicking (at goal) is bad footy. Kicking straight and blowing away an opposition on the scorebaord will mentally destroy their belief in being able to win. But if you keep the opposition in the game on the scoreboard with miss after easy miss despite totally dominating them for a half, then they can and most likely will make you pay in the second half. It's happened a number of times in footy over the years.

Half-time
Freo 6.11 to Port 3.5 ...... Port still in it.

Port 14.5 to Rich 3.2 ...... game over!
