Played very well again in the guts against a decent Pies midfield.

We may have just found a handy outside mid who can find the footy and kick long.

Credit to Dio who has been calling for this move.

Great call, looks a natural and as others have called for frees up a position for a small in the backline

Short is No.1 in the AFL for Metres Gained, 5696m at 712m/game. That’s extraordinary!!

But there is more, No.2 is the Bulldogs Bailey Dale with 4860m at 607.5m/game.

Jayden Short averages OVER 100m/game MORE than the No.2 player in the comp.

If we drop another 104m/game from Dale, it’s Steven May in 13th place.

The gap between 1 and 2 is the same as the gap between 2 and 13.

Now, Darcy Parish is a very good player. He gets to enter the chat as the No.1 rank in the league for disposals per game (34)

Short is ranked No.12 for disposals at 28.25 per game.

Parish is ranked No.40 for metres gained, just over 300m per game less than Short!!!!

All 3 are ranked top 10 for Effective Disposals (Parish 1, Short 6, Dale 7)

So we have a rare gem here. A bloke who gains maximum metres, at a rate which is almost an outlier compared to the rest of the comp, but doesn’t waste it.

Others have tricks or size and get more attention, but his effectiveness stands out to me. He’s a ripper!!

Short last night almost had a kilometre metres gained and 16 inside 50s  :o. Only went at 60% disposal efficiency though.

25 disposals (24k, 1h, 7c, 17u, 60% eff.)
5 marks
3 tackles
2 clearances
16 inside 50s
9 intercepts
989 metres gained
4 score involvements
1 goal assist
87% time on ground

I thought he was average despite the metres gained.

Just threw the ball on his boot in hope most of the time. Like a lot of teammates it was all panic in the 3rd qtr

Agree. That one in the 3rd or 4th quarter where he intercepted it in the middle of the ground and had so many options available inside 50 only to pick out the 1 blues player drove me mad.

It was a wet weather game and get the ball forward at all costs was the order of the day.

That said our fifty entries couldn’t been much better considering the speed we entered some players including Short just needed to lower the eyes and execute rather than kicking directly to a Blue defender.
The club that keeps giving.

Yep I reckon the team would have been under instructions to do just that, the issue being is that he is our transitional distributor so all the heat has come back on him.
