Bowden's "dummy" goal
« on: December 04, 2005, 06:01:40 AM »
Here's a clip of Bowden's goal against the Saints on Easter Monday, 2003 where he dummied around Lenny Hayes, Steven Baker and Robert Harvey before slotting it home:

One of Joel's memorable moments where Tiger fans would have gone ape if he had gotten caught going for the third dummy in a row ;D.

It was ranked 5th best goal of 2003.

That was sweet MT. A shining light in an otherwise very dull year. :'(

I'll try to find who was chosen ahead of him when I get home. I know Browny kicked two rippers for the Dogs that year. I think from memory Kerr of the Eagles run from half-back and goal against Freo was given the number 1 tag.

I was know I was ready to jump the fence ;D

I remember that day well - everyone around me after he kicked that goal were going "ape droppings" and I had my head in my hands. Some bloke next to me asked what was wrong? I said something like doesn't matter and he said "it was never in doubt" and I said "yeah right"  :help ;D

See how focused Bowden was?  It was like nothing or no-one was going to stop him from kicking a goal.

Also note how much easier it is to read the yellow numbers.

I thought that the full sash was worth a try, and possibly worth keeping until the centenary (VFL/AFL) year in 2007, but I really do think that the half sash is a much better guernsey.

Joel's pre-2004 volvo driver stage. Totally oblivious to what was going on around him ;).

Check out Cogs and Cambo nearby with their arms out stretch bobbing up and down on the one spot because they didn't have a clue what Joel was up to to know where to shepherd next  :lol.

Kerr's goal was given as No. 1.

Here's one of Browny's (as a bulldog) from 2003. Was ranked third.

I'll add a few more tiger ones from 2003 when I've uploaded them. A couple of speccies from Richo, Fiora and Hilton.

They're definitely alot easier to read than this year's efforts  :help. I'll wait to see if the Club for 2006 have ditched the fancy font for  larger and thicker white numbers before tossing out the return of the full sash. Having 'old school' numbers hasn't affected the Saints, Cats or Pies' merchandise sales.

Richo marks in the air against the Pies despite his legs being taken underneath him:

Richo's howdy-do to Swan Ben Mathews:
http://oneeyed-richmond.com/movies/richo_r10_2003_OER.mpg  [3.6 MB]

Rory's speccie against the Pies in a rare highlight for him post-2001:

Fiora leaps high over an Eagle:
http://oneeyed-richmond.com/movies/fiora_r9_2003_OER.mpg  [2.6 MB]

IIRC this is match where Vardy had to ruck most of the night against Gardiner :help and our previous coaching staff decided to rush Cambo back despite his calf injury and the long flight to Perth  :'(.
