Anyone heard anything about meatball? Looks like he has been named flr
tomorrows game so hopefully it’s a non issue now.

Prestia trained fully in yesterday's 1.5 hr main session. Did every drill with no issues. He walked just a few laps apparently today but it was only the Captain's run. He's been picked for tomorrow so it sounds like he's fine (touchwood).

Fantastic. Thought it may have been a typo but glad it wasn’t.

We need him.

Dimma on Talking Tigers said if Dion hadn't missed so much footy over the past two years after winning the 2019 B&F, he would've won our past two B&Fs (2020-21) as well. That's how much Dimma said he rates Dion.

Hardwick said Prestia was devastated by another setback and will undergo scans on Friday to determine the severity.

"It's just disappointing; he's had as good a pre-season as he's had. He is so important to the way we play. I feel like he's barely played for two and a half years," he said.

"To get 10 touches in the first quarter and lo and behold we're up and going and then he goes out. He is a significant loss. I just really feel for the kid. He is so important to the way we play and the culture of the place as well.

"He was really disappointed and I'm disappointed for him. We want to see him on the field and up and about. It’s a challenging stage for him."

Dion Prestia's latest injury an unmitigated disaster: Jon Ralph

“Lets not sugarcoat this, Richmond‘s latest hamstring injury with Dion Prestia is an unmitigated disaster ... hey just can’t trust his body anymore,” Herald Sun reporter Jon Ralph said.

“They’d believed they’d bulletproofed him, he had a flawless pre season. Only nine games last year off a calf injury and multiple hamstring injuries. They felt they’d actually cracked the code.”

Leigh Montagna, like many, felt for Prestia.

“He‘s done all pre-season, he’d be so keen. He’s so important to this team,” he said.

“Those contest numbers and ground ball numbers really dropped away in the second quarter and Dion Prestia had such a good first term.

“You feel for the young man, to miss that much footy in the last 18 months, it’d be driving him nuts.”

He was initially contracted until end of 2021.

A year ago we extended him by 3 years until end of 2024, despite having significant injuries in 2020.

He then went on to have a crippled 2021 as well.

This is poor list management, offering a guy with injury concerns a healthy extension at least 6-8 months before the call needed to be made. Club at least should have waited until mid-year 2021.

We used to be good enough to be able to cover for Prestia to be cherry ripe for finals where he always played brilliantly. Unfortunately we aren’t strong enough in the middle without him anymore. He had more than half the disposals of everyone not named short or dusty last night and only played 1 qtr. will be a massive massive loss.
