I think we should be targeting a better ruck then we could develop Gabby Seymour into a full forward. I would hate to see her get traded out or poached.

Poppy Kelly is hopeless. Gabby does her best but she is often undersized.
The club that keeps giving.

She won't get traded. Only way she leaves is if she takes a massive offer from one of the expansion clubs who are getting concessions.

I agree she could take on the Wakefield role.

I don't see her going anywhere TBBH

2023 wishlist: What does your club need this sign and trade period?

With Courtney Wakefield now retired, some support up forward for Stella Reid as she develops will best serve not only Richmond, but Reid herself. In addition, some outside movers will help fundamentally change the Tigers' attacking movement. Last season when up against it they often found themselves stuck playing straight-line footy without any players maintaining width, or a desire to use the width of the field. Adding one or two disciplined players at half-forward or through the middle could help fix this problem.

As previously revealed by womens.afl, former AFLW leading goalkicker Caitlin Greiser is tipped to head to Richmond.

The Tigers are also likely to be busy and could land Courtney Jones from the Suns, while Swans midfielder Molly Eastman is another attracting interest from Victorian clubs and is expected to move.

But Richmond could lose utility Kodi Jacques to Essendon, while experienced defender Harriet Cordner has attracted interest from Carlton.

AFLW: Carlton, Richmond and St Kilda in talks about three-way trade

Daniel Cherny and Eliza Reilly
Code sports
March 13, 2023 - 4:00PM

Carlton original Nat Plane appears bound for St Kilda with the Blues and Saints in discussions with Richmond about a three-way AFLW trade that would send Harriet Cordner to Ikon Park and Caitlin Greiser to Punt Road.

Industry sources confirmed that the clubs were in talks about a trade that could go through as early as tomorrow. Draft picks could also swap hands as part of the trade.

Greiser, the league’s leading goalkicker and an All-Australian in 2020 had been seeking an exit from Moorabbin after slipping down the pecking order at St Kilda under coach Nick Dal Santo.

Cordner, 30, is interested in a move from Richmond to Carlton. The key defender, who can also play ruck, became Tigers’ vice-captain following a breakout 2021 in which she was named in the All-Australian squad, but ruptured her ACL early in 2022, missing most of season six and all of season seven. Carlton would be her third AFLW club, having started at Melbourne.

The Tigers could acquire Courtney Jones from the Gold Coast but lose Maddy Brancatisano the other way.

Cordner to Carlton and we also gave up pick 14 to the Saints for Greiser

Caitlin Greiser Highlights ...

Watch here: https://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/1281994/caitlin-greiser-highlights

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan, said that Greiser’s acquisition helped fill a need for the Tigers.

“We are delighted to bring Caitlin to our Club and expect her skill set to be able to help us right away,” she said.

“Caitlin is a proven performer at AFLW level and an excellent person with a character that will fit right into what we are trying to build here.

“It is exciting for our team and our fans that Caitlin has decided to call Richmond home, and we cannot wait for her to get started.”

Cordner played 12 matches for Richmond across three seasons after crossing from Melbourne, where she played 25 games between 2017-2020.

The athletic tall missed a large part of the 2022 summer season and the entire Season 7 due to a knee injury.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan said that Cordner had requested a fresh start.

“We thank Harriet for her contribution to our Club throughout her three seasons with us,” she said.

“Harriet requested a fresh start, after which we were able to find a suitable trade. We wish her well with the next chapter in her football career and future endeavours.”

Chuck:

No issue with Greiser; solid replacement for Wakefield = she fills a need

I am exceptionally disappointed to lose Cordner; even though they are saying she wanted a "fresh start". One of the best defenders in the comp and brilliant leader.... yes she missed s7 but too good a player to trade away

And I hate giving up 1st round draft picks (NB talking 1st round draft picks in AFLW only)
