Yze said subbed-off spearhead Tom Lynch "copped a bit of a corkie", but could have played on if required.

"'Lynchy' was a little bit sore at three-quarter time, could have played on, but it was an opportunity to get (sub forward) Jacob Bauer into the game and look after 'Lynchy'," Yze said.

ynch produced one of his best performances of the year in Round 7 against the Demons, kicking a game-high three goals and recording season-highs in marks and kicks, which drew praise from Matthew Richardson.

“I was pretty happy with big Lynchy’s form on Thursday night. He looked dangerous, and it has sort of been a bit of a normal timeline for Lynchy, after three or four games in, he always gets up and going," Richardson said.

“It was the same last year in that Sydney game where he played really well, but unfortunately got injured. He has a big load to shoulder down there, and he is just starting to get a bit of separation on the lead as well.

“He plays on edge and that’s when he plays his best footy."

Tom Lynch on loyalty to the Tigers in a full rebuild, the truth about his MRO run-ins, playing with Sims, Faull, Fawcett, Armstrong, Trainor & leading to Lalor.

“I don’t think I’ll be playing anywhere other than Richmond. I won’t be playing anywhere else.” - Lynch.

From Barrett's Sliding Doors column:

IF ...
Tom Lynch is closing on 500 career goals ...

THEN ...
it's still been a long time since he produced a bag of them in the one game. The final round of 2022, to be exact, when he kicked five against Essendon, having kicked eight the week before against Hawthorn. Hasn't managed more than three in a match since. Gets a chance on Sunday against the Roos to fix that.

Tom Lynch is unavailable for Dreamtime at the G. He copped a head knock in a marking contest yesterday, was assessed, felt fine & stayed on. It was only post-match when he reported delayed concussion symptoms.

Subsequent tests have confirmed he was concussed, so he’s entered the protocols.

Tom Lynch update

Tom Lynch has entered the concussion protocols.

By Richmond Media
19 May 2025

Richmond forward Tom Lynch has entered the concussion protocols after reporting delayed symptoms following yesterday’s game.

The veteran forward has been ruled out of Friday’s Dreamtime at the ‘G clash.

Richmond General Manager, Football Performance, Tim Livingstone, said the Club would carefully monitor Lynch.

“Tom had a heavy contest late in yesterday’s game and while he was initially feeling and looking OK and able to be cleared by our medical staff, in the hours after the game he began to develop symptoms," Livingstone said.

“As a result of this, our doctor has placed Tom in the concussion protocols, and he will now be monitored closely through the coming days and required period of time.

“His health and wellbeing as always, will be our main priority.”

Cornes has been trying to retire Lynch this weekend.

I think it’s essential he goes around one more time next year .

Can't agree with you on that one.

Reckon this is one we desperately want to win

Certain games have great significance. This is one of ours

I'm being a little sarcastic.

Didn't see any concussion-esque incident with Tom.

Don't see why the club shouldn't play Balta for 3 quarters.

Our two most important bookends.

The break will do Tom’s body good and give opportunities to deserving others like Gray and Blight .

Final qtr, think it was when he leaped for a mark and crashed down on his back.

We were discussing at the time whether it should be a free for tunnelling? I was in the Olympic stand last week so couldn't really see the incident

Thought it was a silly attempt at mark/play for a free for ITB from where I was sitting.

Oh well...going to be an interesting game then. We'll have to play Blight and Gray. Maybe Gray forward.
