While most Richmond players are still riding the high of their euphoric season, youngster Jack Ross has gone back to work.

After missing a second straight premiership, the 20 year old is putting in the hard yards to ensure he doesn't miss the next one.

Jack Ross (Richmond)

Much like at a delicatessen, young midfielders at Richmond need to take a ticket and wait in line patiently for their turn.

The Tigers have some really nice young talent, with young players Riley Collier-Dawkins, Thomson Dow and Will Martyn all hoping for some regular senior footy this season, but all have to wait behind Ross for a spot in the midfield.

Into his third season, Ross has really impressed those watching Richmond during the preseason with how hard he has worked to get into senior midfield shape.

Having missed out on the 2020 Grand Final, Ross is at the front of the line for a midfield opportunity and looks set to feature prominently in 2021.

Tigers youngster Jack Ross then racked up eight disposals in just over a quarter, providing additional run through the midfield having come on for the stricken Nick Vlastuin as the reigning premiers eased to a 25-point victory.

"Jack Ross was terrific," Hardwick said. "There's no doubt, you could tell the difference between both players. Jack was very good when he came on and he made a difference straightaway.

Fluffed one kick then was involved in some good chains of play, which the 6 score involvements shows.

Moving him from possible to probable

Would like to see him get a full game. 4 tackles in 23% game time is awesome.

Thought he was very good.

Like most of them last his first disposal was poor, after that very good

That kick to Dusty one on one in final qtr was brilliant

I like the way this kid competes. He got a future and continues to improve and impress with his work in the contest.

Coming on fresh against tiring players you would expect him to get a bit of ball and be involved.
Did what was expected imo only issue remains his delivery at times.

Expected him to shine but was underwhelming to say th least. Hopefully just needs a block of 3-4 games to get into the flow of AFL level footy again.

First half he was excellent.

I gave him a rwp for it.

2nd half MIA

Clearly I mozzed him, so it's my fault

Sorry folks.  :-[

I actually noticed him more in the second half than the first...,main thing I remember him from the first half was giving away Port's first goal and making the initial mistake that led to their second... :shh

Young mids exposed last night across 4 quarters. Ross had 14 touches to half-time but just 4 in the second half.
