Tries hard but his skills and decision making were left wanting a bit tonight. Still our best small forward unfortunately.

Sometimes tries to do to much. His tackling was really good last night as was his efforts. Goes in hard.

Carpark naps and granny flats: How Beacy boy hit big time - The remarkable rise of Tiger Jake Aarts

As Richmond’s senior team trained, Jake Aarts would sleep in the Punt Road carpark. But that’s only part of the Tiger rookie remarkable journey to the AFL.

Jake Aarts spent three months living in Aussie Jones’ granny flat on the Bendigo train line before spending his evenings sleeping in the Punt Rd carpark. He found out he would be a dad in the Gold Coast hub. He is a story of dedication and determination ...

Players at your club who have taken their opportunity

Richmond - Jake Aarts

Tenacious small forward Jake Aarts had the entire summer to dwell on his misfortune at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old missed Richmond’s third premiership in four years after he was omitted following the Qualifying Final loss to Brisbane and was not recalled for the remainder of the finals series.

Aarts got to work in the off-season in a bid to force his way back into Damien Hardwick’s plans and has been a key contributor since Round 1.

He has played all 14 games and is equal third with Dustin Martin on 16 goals behind Jack Riewoldt and Tom Lynch. Aarts has had the most tackles inside 50 at the club (17) and is in the top five for score involvements.

His attack around the contest and smarts with the ball are the hallmarks of his game.

Aarts is the prefect example of what happens when a team isn't playing well or you are an average side

When you are winning his limitations are to a degree hidden. Teams going so well his abilities or lack of aren't in focus because they don't need to be

But when a side starts losing and is playing so badly there is nowhere to hide.

Right now for Aarts there is nowhere to hide.

He’s a good complimentary player when things are going well. Like a lot of our players he stinks up horribly when things are bad.

21 games this year for a paltry return. Does not have the tools for AFL  yet we refuse to do anything about his type.

Never again please Dimma  :help.

No doubt Jake tries hard but triers don't cut it at AFL level. He is a VFL-standard player given his poor skills. He shouldn't have been in the 22 tonight in the first place either. Poor team selection.
