Former Essendon player and Tiwi Bombers Club President Dean Rioli said he was proud to see the sixth member of his family making their debut in the AFL.

“Maurice has had to work extremely hard to be able to gain a spot in the great Richmond line-up, as he does have to compete for a spot against players like Bolton, Castagna, Lambert, Aarts and previously Daniel Rioli until he was moved down to defence,” Rioli told NIT.

“As a junior Maurice was always a tackling machine — as his famous father was and though he was never a high possession player he was definitely a high-pressure player who would pop up and kick a freakish goal or two.”

From Dimma's presser:

“People will look at the stats sheet, and I think he (Rioli Jnr) only had six or seven touches, but he created five turnovers which are really important in the way we play.

“Some of the chase pressure that he put on allowed us to kick goals going back the other way. That is the importance of his role and what he can bring.

“We were pleased with the performance of those young lads.”

If he keeps dropping easy marks he will find himself with the wrong type of reputation.

Yep feel sorry for the guy, is clearly not ready at this level

Needs to work on his marking, not letting opp players waltz through him, ability to impact a contest for starters

He’s been hopeless to be brutally honest. Dropped a number of simple chest marks.

Yes thrown in the deep end.  Just runs around trying to tackle not looking to get dangerous as a forward.
Probably a coaching instruction so not his fault.

Had a better last quarter at least.

I still think he’ll be a player.
