Is he playing VFL this week does anyone know?
Not named in the side. I think the plan is to allow him to train this year. His body will need to adjust to running around big grounds and the rigors of full body contact in footy as compared to running up and down a basketball court. A different kind of endurance.
And a different kind of full body contact.
Yeah we're already going to vote for him mate, you don't need to keep selling it.....

If the big American can learn and play afl I’m fairly certain it’s pretty easy to teach someone 200cm + how to make it in the AFL.
It’s quite ridiculous to grasp but we all saw Soldo play in a premiership  :rollin

The club that keeps giving.

Basketball is a good grounding for a ruckman.

Mate has already played a couple of seasons of junior football with Noah.

* The club is looking forward to getting some VFL time into Mate next year.

* Mate played at Doutta Stars with Noah Balta (his cousin) and Cam Rayner up until he was 15 before heading to the AIS (Basketball).

* Colina is over in Hawaii at the moment playing college Basketball. He has his own training program. Will return in March.

Knocking on the door: Who's yet to make an AFL debut at your club?

Mate Colina

The Tigers are awfully bullish about the only player on the club's list (pre-draft) who is yet to debut. A basketballing-Category B rookie, Colina is the cousin of rising key back Noah Balta and close family friends with Ivan Soldo and ruck coach Ivan Maric. Standing at a whopping 213cm, Colina would add a markedly different dimension to Richmond's ruck stocks, given Toby Nankervis is 199cm and Soldo 204cm. The departures of young talls Callum Coleman-Jones (North Melbourne) and Mabior Chol (Gold Coast) means there should be ample opportunity for Colina to develop in the VFL alongside fellow raw prospect Samson Ryan.

Others yet to debut: Noah Cumberland, Bigoa Nyuon (both set to be added to the rookie list after being delisted)

Matt Clarke discussing Mate:

Colina in good form shooting hoops in Hawaii. Season best the other day (24 pts). Spent time with us while we were in the Sydney hub this year. He will become a full time footballer with us once he finishes up over there early next year.
