Dustin Martin’s manager Ralph Carr addresses rumours of Sydney move

Dustin Martin’s manager says the Richmond star wants to be Australia’s answer to Tom Brady, fuelling speculation he could land in Sydney on a long-term deal after his current contract.

AFL superstar Dusty Martin wants to become Australia’s version of NFL legend Tom Brady, and it could mean him playing out his career in Sydney.

The country’s best-known footballer and three-time Norm Smith Medallist could play until he’s 38, says his agent Ralph Carr when asked about a rumour he wanted to play in Sydney.

Buddy Franklin is off contract at the Sydney Swans at end of next season, the same time Martin’s contract is up at Richmond.

“Dusty loves Sydney,” Carr said. “He’s there a lot and he originally lived in Camden with his dad. You’ve got to live there to really know how good it is.

“He loves rugby league, too, and he was hanging out with Cameron Munster the other day.”

Martin, 29, spends much of the AFL off-season in Sydney to escape the constant spotlight.

It’s why the Harbour City is appealing on a long-term contract.

“He’s capable of playing until he’s 36 or 38,” Carr said. “The way his body is he can be Australia’s version of Tom Brady.

“They’re talking about him as the greatest ever and I don’t think anyone will beat his record of three flags and three Norm Smith Medals.

“He wants to play for as long as he possibly can.”

Pressed on the Swans, Carr said: “I can’t say, that’s a big question. He’s got two years to go at Richmond and it’s too early to say where he might finish up.”

Thought we signed Dusty for 7 years in 2017? Or was it 6?

We did it was 7 years at the end of 2017 so he doesn't come out of contract until the end of the 2024 season.

After the Buddy debacle, do you think the Swans would give a big/long contract to a guy who is in his early 30s??  :lol

LOL, so factually incorrect.

Dustin re-signed on 31st August 2017 for 7 years making him contracted till 30 Oct 2024, he would be 33 & a bit

How disappointing from a "leading journo", no wonder I hardly listen or read much of thier rubbish anymore.
Shame Dusty likes Carr, but Carr is only for himself (weasel)
and I still hate Swans Afl pet franchise they always look after to keep the game relevant...

Rothfield and the Daily Telegraph .... yeah what a reliable source :lol.

So either Carr is clueless about the length of Dusty's contract which lasts until 2024 or it's a made up quote.
