Tom Browne on 7news just now said Adam Cerra is now leaning towards leaving Fremantle and Richmond is one of the clubs he could end up at.

How are we going to afford him with key signings of Bolton and CCJ to address?

Would need to move on Houli, Astbury, Caddy at a minimum.

And trade picks. We are likely to have 2 picks around 15-20. One of those won't be enough.

We still should have money over from Rance leaving? We still had Rance when Lynch joined us.

Houli should retire come seasons end which would also free up some more of the salary cap. Age is starting to catch up on Bachar. He's losing his feet at times and reaching for the footy which is the classic sign of 'old' age footy wise. Retire with everyone remembering him as the champion he's been for our Club before his body completely falls away. It would be sad to see him struggling for that one extra year and running around in the twos next year.

But wasn't Lynch's contract backed ended? Or was it front ended? I thought first few years he was taking less with the bigger chunk being in the last 2 years? Stand corrected if I've got that wrong

The thing that concerns me is what we would have to give up and I'm not just talking draft picks. Freo may want a player. When you look at what the Club has built culture wise, the clear connection and the bonds that exist within the playing group just think the club needs to be careful not jeopardise that

pretty sure Lynch is back ended WP.

I must be the only bloke on here that doesnt really rate Cerra all that well. That said i dont watch much of Freo, so whatever the club decides is good enough for me except in the case of Mitchell who i think would be a bad mistake.

29 in October with 4 years to go.

1.5 mil in the last year

well worth it with 2 flags, one we wouldnt have without him, but its a big price in his final years.

Thought the Lynch contract was changed after Rance retired and we brought forward some of his back ended contract. If we didn't  do that then it would be one of the rare list mangement errors the club has made in recent years

Yes this is correct. We used some of the Rance money (about $650,000+ saved) to adjust existing contracts. No doubt Lynch is one of them and I think Caddy was also. Can't remember who else.

Still think if we want to keep guys like Bolton, CCJ, Chol etc we need to move blokes on. Houli, Astbury should retire 100%. Caddy move on. Jack to go another year, Cotchin I'm not sure but I would think so, both on less money.

That should be enough to cover those 3 young guys.

Not a huge Cerra fan myself but he's decent. Would cost reasonable coin tho and plenty in a trade.

Shame the veterans list isn't around anymore. Most likely introduced to stop hawthorns dominance so no chance they will bring it back now with the amount we have that would fit into that category.

Caddy no big loss who else is replaceable?

We need to make some other hard calls IMO.

I'd like us to hit the draft hard but if giving up all our picks could help us land Green, Cerra & say, Sam Taylor -  I'd do it in a heartbeat... :shh

Were there is smoke there is normally fire so reckon the Cerra one is likely.
Be surprised if we go anywhere near Mitchell
If we can get Cerra and keep Bolton we've done very well.
