WHICH TIGER SIGNATURE SHOULD RICHMOND PRIORITISE?

By Seb Mottram
SEN
12 September 2021

Kane Cornes believes Richmond would prefer to keep Mabior Chol over Callum Coleman-Jones, with both key forwards out of contract.

Chol is an unrestricted free agent and can walk to any club of his choosing, while Coleman-Jones would need a trade to leave Tigerland.

Both have reportedly attracted interest from numerous rival clubs.

Cornes believes Chol’s versatility gives him an edge over his teammate.

“The player that can play forward like (Mabior) Chol can but also ruck, every team wants one,” he told AFL Nation.

“A lot of teams aren’t prepared to play two rucks but they need their ruck to have a rest, so if you can rest forward and be equally as effective there, it’s just so valuable.

“I think Coleman-Jones has a bigger future in holding down a key position but Chol, for that versatility that he gives you, is vital.”

The pair played similar roles in 2021, Coleman-Jones averaging more goals while Chol averaged more hitouts.

I think Chol is starting to show some really good things but yeah he has weaknesses. I'd rather keep them both and recruit replacement midfielders for Cotch and Dusty when they retire.  I'm not really sure from what Ive seen CCJ is that great with body on body work either but he can build up.

He has it very wrong. Chol can walk but CCJ is a must sign.

I would like both to stay, but CCJ is first preference. It takes time to develop the big blokes and these two are close to playing every week
CCJ should be playing more ruck next year , hopefully with us

Chol can go for mine, he is quick and silky sometimes, but doesn’t have enough drive or mongrel

Seen enough Chol. Bye Felicia!

Mind not made up on CCJ.

Cornes...isn't this the guy who said the Dogs had thrown away their top 4/premiership? Haha
