Draftees return via VFL scratch matchRichmond’s VFL side competed in a scratch match against St Kilda last weekend, with several AFL-listed Tigers playing in the clash at RSEA Park.
Draftees Harry Armstrong and Jasper Alger both returned from injuries in the game, with Armstrong competing very strongly, taking some good contested marks, and running the game out well.
Alger played around the ball as a high half-forward, and got up and down the ground well.
Kane McAuliffe also returned, playing the first 20 minutes and dominating in the contest, with his drive through tackles a standout.
Josh Gibcus continued his comeback, getting through the clash well physically, while providing great contests in the air.
Improving ruck Oliver Hayes-Brown competed admirably against a quality young ruck, as he builds on his strong recent VFL form.
Noah Balta provided strong leadership in the backline, while Tom Lynch approached the game with a great attitude, and took several contested marks that resulted in shots at goal.
Extremely windy conditions resulted in a strongly contested game, with seven VFL-listed Tigers participating in Harry Scott, Jhett Haeata, Sam Phillips, Hugh White, Sam Frangalas, Pala Kuma, and Jed Feneley.
Three Sandringham Zebras also represented Richmond, with St Kilda having a strong Zebras showing.
The Tigers had no injury concerns out of the game.
Richmond’s VFL team face Werribee this Saturday, with the race for finals spots set to heat up over the last four weeks of the season.
