What do we think of the meaningless draw?
« on: July 19, 2009, 05:00:36 PM »
Tanking and non tanking aside, this is what is called a meaningless game! This is what epitomises our club.....an ability to win games due to a lack of belief! Admittedly we had our 3best mid fielders out but should have won that game!

I think so! I think we tried to win that game otherwise Mitch wouldve put that last goal on the full!
Are we now the drawing kings? We seem to do it each season!

I thought I couldn't feel much worse after last week

Today was a shocker - so gutted. I got home and said I don't think I can do this anymore.

We lost the un-looseable.

If this is what tanking is about then count me out (not that i was ever in).

Can anyone explain to me that how getting a priority pick or the first pick in the draft is suddenly going to create a winning a culture at this footy club?

To lose a game (and beleive me we LOST) like we did today just continues to foster a culture that is unacceptable that has consumed us for 27 years .. but hey at least at the end of it we can say we have some decent picks coming up

Correct ( we agree once again WP)
We are going no where.
We have had good picks in the past and wasted them :banghead
With some  of the people making decisions at the club , you wouldnt think they would get it right this time either.

Bents - I don't want to tank, and have never wanted to tank.

Today's result is why we shouldn't be tanking because our blokes don't know how to win and I wonder if we ever will and getting early draft picks isn't going to ensure that our long held loser mentality isgoing to change

everyone wants the team to win games, win a flag.

how we achive this of course is the issue

i do not beleive in this 'winning mindset' theory.

the better your players are, the more chance you have of winning the game.

a high draft pick + 3 top 20 picks on top of our young list, and a new coach will give us the best chance

14 Tiges 22 and under to just 7 Roos (8 if you include Swallow who just turned 23 a month ago). 3 of them teenagers to zero. 14 Roos 25 and over to just 5 Tigers which included two VFL standard duds in King and McMahon who all won't be around within 12 months time. Add rookie Silvester at 24 whose only playing because Kel is out injured. Some perspective please  :P. It's more an indictment on North for falling 7 goals behind to a team of mostly kids. I hope they enjoy losing their priority pick via a draw to what was almost the Coburg Tigers in round 1.

I am not in the mood for "perspective" MT

Walking back to the car and listening to people complaining that we drew this game .... well I find it gut wrenching

DUMB THEORY
You know why ???
You are taking it as granted that they know what they are doing at Punt Road.
Problem is, THEY DONT.
They will probably trade picks to get Danny Meyer back  :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

would have rather if we had lost the game narrowly at the end rather than draw.

I believe that's why Wallace and Miller each were given the sack. Fair enough to be critical of decisions like the last one (I agree with you) but as for "we are going no where" (sic) that's chicken little stuff given the teams on the park today.

Blame the system WP that rewards losing over winning  :banghead.

I can understand supporters being gutted after coughing up a 7 goal lead WP but comments like Jack's that we are going nowhere is nothing but a chicken little statement.
