Jamie O'Reilly - 2 year deal

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/northern_ireland/8331452.stm

Does anyone have O'Reillys stats? Height, age weight ect.
And what role do we expect him to play?

I don't know his exact stats Howler but when I saw O'Reilly trialling with us earlier in the year he was of slim build. Body size he looked like Andrew Collins did in his first year. I would say we'd be looking at him to eventually play HBF/wing/HFF (outside rebounder and/or attacker) if he can bulk up a tad and make the transition to Aussie Rules.

38 on the Senior List is compulsory. You can't have more, can't have less.

8 Rookies maximum are allowed = 46 maximum list total.

Up to 2 eligible Veterans are allowed to be counted as outside the Senior List.

For each Veteran outside the Senior List you can take one less Rookie.
We have one eligible Veteran (Richo) so can have a maximum of 7 Rookies in 2010.

In 2009 we went one rookie short and had a total list of 45.
(Senior List 38, 2 Veteran Listed [Richo & Joel] and 5 Rookies).

The unfairness of in effect having a Senior List of 40 if you had 2 eligible Veterans was fixed by the rule change in 2009 where a maximum of 2 Rookies can be elevated before Round One for each eligible Veteran you don't have and without having to put a senior listed player on the Long Term Injury List.

We can promote one Rookie if we wish to before Round One.

With Richo gone, we can now have up to 8 rookies and can promote 2 before Round One if we wish to.

Me thinks Gourdis may get promoted before Round 1 if he performs well in the NAB Cup.

It'd be great if he improved his kicking that much over this preseason to be considered for round 1 but I won't hold my breath. More likely it will be Polly who will be nominated IMO.

I know I'm flogging a dead horse but the fact we can nominate two rookies next year from round 1 makes the decision to promote two rookies to the senior list even more mindboggling ???.

Do all seven new draftees receive standard two-year contracts or say did Martin get given a three-year deal being a top 5 pick?

Under the rules the RFC is required to give Martin a minimum 2 year contract - their choice to give him 3 years

Historically, (over the last 3-4 years  ;D) the RFC have negotiated 3 year deals with thier number 1 pick

As for the others my understandiong is for first time draftees they automatically get a 2 year deal as well

We have picks 7, 23, 38, 50, 60 and 68 in the rookie draft. The full list of rookie picks for each club is in the rookie drft thread. It works just like the National draft except GC17 will have the first 5 picks and Brisbane and Sydney are allowed extra recruiting zone picks in Qld and NSW respectively at the end.
