Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne joined SEN’s Sportsday to discuss the performances from Round 19 which may have been overlooked in the coaches’ votes.

Jack Ross (Richmond)

“We had him as the second highest rated player on the ground on the weekend against Hawthorn and didn’t get a vote from the coaches.

“Over the last couple of weeks, he’s actually been the sixth highest rated wingman in the competition.

“It was a huge substitution when he came on (against Sydney) so early in the game and have a real impact.

“He’s found his role playing that wing role alongside Kamdyn McIntosh, under Andrew McQualter.

“He’s going quite well at the moment and should be one for Richmond supporters to keep an eye on moving forward."

Becoming one of my favourite players to watch. Has become cool and composed, hits good targets. What a stunning turnaround

Fourth most possies for us and his equal third highest possession game of the season.

Thoughts on Ross' game?

23 disposals (11k, 12h, 10c, 11u, 78.3% eff.)
4 marks
1 tackle
4 clearances (1 centre clearance)
5 inside 50s
426 metres gained
5 intercepts
9 score involvements
1 goal assist
79% time on ground

I think in the second quarter he handballed to a Roo while being tackled. Was a bit of a stuff up.

Funny moment he was on the bench and walking along the fence having a drink.

One of our fans shouted WE STILL LOVE YOU JACK

And he said 'thanks mate'

Got a nice giggle haha

Hope someone told the fan to speak for themselves.  I reckon he is a slow plodder that if he is getting games it shows how stuffed our list really is.

Fair enough.
I suggest you look at his composure and passing.
He has been improving with more games IMHO.

Ross has the typical speed that most inside mids have -IE mid paced - but he's playing an outside role that's usually the domain of quicker players and looks slower than he is - he's still a positive hare compared to Machine Man....my main issue with him atm is he does that annoying thing that Hackson used to do in that he too often doesn't play the percentages and will blindly release the ball invariably right into the path of oppo players instead of just killing it, taking it over the boundary or taking the tackle.... :shh
