Some new reserve seats available in the Ponsford Sand in 2014
=====================
Richmond to rally in Ponsford Stand in 2014
By richmondfc.com.au

4:07pm AEST Tuesday, September 10, 2013
Richmond’s Level 2 Premiership Circle membership will expand into the Ponsford Stand at the MCG next year, turning a section of level 2 into a Richmond area during its home games.
Richmond fans that choose to purchase or upgrade to the Premiership Circle membership will have a Level 2 reserved seat in the Ponsford Stand for home games, exclusive access to the Dean Jones Bar at the MCG, as well as guaranteed access to purchase a Grand Final ticket, should Richmond be competing. Outside of being a coterie member, Maurice Rioli and Premiership Circle memberships are the only way to guarantee yourself access to purchase a Grand Final ticket if the Club competes.
The Club has only 2000 reserved seats in the Ponsford Stand to sell, with 500 of these seats expected to be snapped up by those currently on the Premiership Circle waiting list.
Richmond attracted over one million footy fans to its games this year, topping the season with an all-time record crowd of almost 95,000 for the elimination final against Carlton.
Prices for Premiership circle memberships are: Adults $450, Concession $370, Children $150 and Family $1,140.
The only game that Richmond does not have access to reserved seating in the Ponsford Stand is when the Tigers play a home game against Collingwood, which happens every second year on average. Premiership Circle members in the Ponsford Stand will have general admission access for Collingwood home games, and this has been taken into consideration when pricing this product.
To find out more about the Premiership Circle membership, call Richmond’s membership team on 1300 742 466 or click here to register your interest.

A friend of mine who has a Collingwood membership (?Legends type) sits in the same reserve seat in the Ponsford Stand for both home AND away games!!!! No wonder this membership can't give you your seat when we play Collingwood as the home team! I'm already on level 2 in N51 which I think has the best views in the house. And I can use it for Collingwood games too! So it's a NO from me!!

Inner Sanctum coterie have their room and reserved seats in the Ponsford. I'm in IS but I don't use those seats use my other ones around in N7
But for our Home this year against C'wood we got shunted to a room that was a 10 minute walk to the seats they got for us on the Olympic Stand. Lets just say IS members weren't happy ;D
Have never understood why the RFC don't offer reserve away seating as part of its membership packages. I'd take the offer up in a heartbeat, would life easier than having to deal bloody Ticketek

My sister is a Collingwood member they do.
Asked once and got told, too much work, would take too many man hours for the costs involved, were concerned they wouldn't sell enough to make money on it and that simply they would not do it
Excuses, excuses.
I reckon trial it. Offer say 1000-2000 seats at for sale on 17 game m'ships and see what happens.
If they don't sell them out they sell the seats back to Ticketek it can't be that hard

I love my seat it's the best view from there IMHO. :thumbsup

Interesting use of the words "access to purchase"
Does that mean you are guaranteed a seat if you want it? Or you will be allowed to try and buy one?

The 2nd bit
"access to purchase" gives you access to the member's only sale of tickets on the Monday before any final (the 9am-1pm sale window this year) in weeks 1-3. Failure to utilise that and you just get access to the general public sale
Exactly the same as this year. :banghead
No membership category, no coterie group were guaranteed a seat this year finals during in weeks 1-3 despite the wording of some of the "guaranteed" benefits of certain categories. All any of us were guaranteed was "access to purchase" in weeks 1-3 :banghead :banghead
Look for all categories to have the wording re finals tickets "tweaked" to reflect this for 2014

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't weeks 1-3 'access to purchase' a finals ticket (subject to availability)? If we were to make the GF then coterie members, Maurice Rioli and Premiership Circle memberships would be guaranteed a ticket should they wish to purchase??

Correct - access to purchase is technically subject to availability but the club will tell you (well they told me during our many conversation on this very sticky topic ;D) that membership gives you "priority access to purchase" that is the 4 hours window for members and that is better than what is offered to non-members ;D

Sorry I meant it says "access to purchase GF tickets." Hoping that doesn't mean the same as normal finals.

No it doesn't mean the same as weeks 1-3
It means you are guaranteed a GF ticket if you want to buy one
Only memberships that have the guarantee for GF tickets will be able to buy tickets to the GF

Thanks WP. Always thought that was the case but after the wording and the dodgy wording of weeks 1-3 I was a little worried.

Inner Sanctum package hasn't been finalised for 2014
But for 2013 we got:
* 4 pre-match briefings from a RFC coach
* ticket to the B&F
* seating in level 2 Ponsford stand
* dining room in the Ponsford stand where you can purchase sit down meals etc pre-match (pre-match hosted by Nathan Power)
* free half time food eg pies, sandwiches
* ticket to coterie season launch
* guarantee GF tickets (2 per membership)
* 17 game membership
* access to Social club pre and post match
Don't think it will change much but the email I got said there will be a coupe of new things but what they are dont know at the minute

Cheers WP, where is the seating ?
As I said level 2 Ponsford stand
I am a current 3121 member and will more than likely stay and I love my seat on Level 2 Olympic.
I have gone and sat Level 2 Ponsford and been a guest with a friend at a Collingwood home game there with the meal and half time footy food etc. What I find strange and correct me if I am wrong if we are the home team against Pies people with Inner Sanctum memberships have only General Admission entry to the game. Couldn't the club offer a reserve seat given the Collingwood agreement thy have in the Ponsford to lets sat Southern Stand or Olympic? Whereas with my reserve seat in the Olympic I have no issue for all our home games at the G. :-\

Not right Don.
You are correct that IS members didnt have access to their room or the reserved seats in the Ponsford stand for the C'wood game. Reason being that with C'wood's agreement with the MCG they have exclusive access to the Pinsford stand for their members for all games they play at the MCG. All clubs not just the RFC lose access to the rooms and seating on the Ponsford against C'wood (even Peptide-dons on ANZAC day when it's their home game)
However, we did have access to a room and a reserve seat for the C'wood game. They were both in the Olympic stand. Biggest gripe that people had was the room was on level 3 and the seats were on level 2. :thumbsup

Thanks WP as considering helping out the club and maybe getting one on top of my 3121 membership but that clarifies things as I said I probably had it wrong. :thumbsup
Either way having a guaranteed Grand Final seat with my level of membership is paramount and hopefully coterie club members and members with higher level memberships can have first dibs on finals tix should we make it next year unlike the debacle we saw this year on the Monday before the final.
-
Sadly we certainly don't get first dibs on finals tkts in weeks 1 to 3. Believe the wording for that is going to be changed to reflect that for 2014. It will say exactly the as,e as what it does for 3121, MRC and all other members
Personally certainly don't agree with it (reckon it's poor for the money you pay) but that's the way it is I've been told when I've asked about it.
Only guarantee will be GF tickets and the priority access to purchase tickets in weeks 1-3 = the same debacle we had at 9am on that dreaded Monday morning before our final

Tigers target 75,000 members
richmondfc.com.au October 31, 2013 1:04 PM
Richmond has incorporated its rich history, passionate supporter base and future ambition in its 2014 membership campaign - Strong and Bold: Bring the Roar Home.
The Tigers are set to build on the 2013 season, which saw record membership and a return to the finals for the first time since 2001.
After becoming just the third Club in AFL/VFL history to break through the 60,000 member barrier, the Club is aiming to sign 75,000 members in 2014.
The words “Strong and Bold” resonate with Richmond’s passionate and loyal fan base. They appear in the lyrics to the Club’s theme song and underpin its core values and ambitious strategic direction.

You're right WP. Cotch is used for the main membership page while Ellis is used for 6-14 year olds (i.e. Brandon's buddies).

Last year they added the "rolling Tigers" the day after the first payment for 2013 m'ships were processed (late Nov)
Yesterday was cut off day for people in "Premiership Circle" reserve seat category to nrenew and keep their seats, so maybe it's them :thumbsup
Think it might have also been cut off date for 3121 renewal as well

Remember we had already signed nearly 5000 new members already with that 2013/2014 offer. So we need to add 10,000 new members which is not unrealistic given our membership growth over recent years. We'll know more in mid-November when all the roll-over members are automatically included into the 2014 tally.

Question for Mr RFC_O I reckon
The major jump is because the first "Committed/Rolling Tiger" payments for 2014 came out of peoples accounts on Friday. Club doens't add those people in until the first payment is made

33.000 seems a bit low. How us it the hawks have 35k already. I wonder if we will get more than them this year
Are you kidding me?
Yes I'd like to know why they have more than us as they're a small club
Tassie members too

Shouldn't mean poo. Richmond is coming off their most successful season in 12 years. How much do you think the hawks will end up with WP ?
-
Only my opinion but if we dont pass Hawthorn this year in Memberships for me it would mean we have failed as a club. The goal is to achieve our target and get in front of Hawthorn in terms of membership sales.
-
The last few years they've been about 10-14k ahead near round 1 and we close the gap. Think we'll go past them this year. ...and as stripes said about 11k Tassie members
-

Yes :clapping this is how I feel too. They're a small club and only have more members than us Essendon and Carl because they've been successful. Their supporters are arrogant about it too
-
Hawks fans are general wankers in the highest of orders
-

1/ Considering we were as of last friday 7k ahead of the same time last year I think it is clear that our successful 2013 is alreading having an impact on our numbers
2/ I don't care about Hawthron. I don't give a rats how many members they have, how they get them or where they are based.
Only care about how many members we have and how they get treated by the Club
-

It will be interesting to see how many members you think they will get then...

I just told you I don't care how many they get or didn't I make it clear enough :huh
So as a result I am not going to guess/speculate on a number because I simply don't care
Not sure why it concerns you so much TBH
-
It's a competition. 30,000 members for the year not too long ago was seen as a huge accomplishment....now its not. The success of our membership numbers is based on more than our internal growth as a club but also on how they compare to others.
This is the only reason I care what numbers the Pies, Hawks or any other club gets in any year.

I understand it's a competition of sorts
But right at the minute I am only interested in where the RFC is tracking compared to last year and whether they achieve their target figure for 2014.

I'm still waiting on WP to tell me what he thinks the Whorekers will get and what their target might be
Their target is to reach 80k by 2017.
-
By 2017 Richmond should be selling 100,000 memberships per year (game entry memberships) and say 25,000 non game memberships for a total of 125,000 memberships IMHO.
-
I'm still waiting on WP to tell me what he thinks the Whorekers will get and what their target might be

If we ever got to 100k game entry memberships then we'd probably have to add reserve seating to them as Essendon have done at Docklands to fit most of them in the 'G. It would be the Elim. Final crowd at every home game :o.
-

We'll beat hawks by at least 5k. We are a lot closer this year than last year and we'll just overtake them

Are you kidding me?
Yes I'd like to know why they have more than us as they're a small club
Hawthorn's high profile supporters usually contribute to the club by buying multiple memberships at the insistence of the club's board.
So instead of donating $50,000 they might instead buy 100 memberships for example.
So their membership tally is usually inflated somewhat.
Plus they won a flag I guess that helps too...

Its not the expollie that does that at Hawthorn its a well known rumour that they have 1 or 2 big businessmen who buy thousands of memberships each each year to pump up the membership numbers at Hawthorn.

Not saying that but it absolutely kills them that we have so many supporters and members and they're very jealous of our crowds. They win a flag and it's like nothing happened lol. Soulless club

Eddie is scared, he knows we can definitely challenge them as the biggest club in the league. We just smashed the record for an elimination final attendance.
Press red for Ed, he didn't bother doing this for any other game this season. I hope he tries it again next season and we clout them.

Unlike say carlton which has wealthy benefactors,or Melbourne and the northern interstate clubs which have the AFL supporting them,we have have neither.
We have to look at how clubs like Collingwood and especially hawthorn are raking in the dollars. Not that long ago the Hawks were going to merge and were up the creek money wise.Yet in a relatively short space of time they were able to not only turn it around but make themselves(whether we like it or not) into a financial powerhouse.
Or we can disgard both hawthorn and the pies and plot our own course in this area, but the given is that sooner rather than later the well that is the Fighting tiger fund will run dry or at the very least just a trickle..In my opinion that's a certainty

Can I just make a slight correction on your first point
We have indeed received money from the AFL, firstly we received over a few seasons money for our poor stadium deals. Granted , we didn't receive as much as other clubs but we certainly received a 6 figure sum.
Also, all clubs have recd funds under the AFL "futures fund" over the last 2 seasons. I still have the document that was released after the last TV rights were done. for memory the RFC were slated to receive significant funding over $5mil. Thin we've recd part of it but note sure about this year.

I know the comment was directed at Wp,but I certainly don't want memberships increased much beyond the inflation rate.
I want to see as many Richmond supporters out there become members.I want to see bums on seats at the games where the atmosphere created is akin to what we saw at the elimination final last year.

Not a Footscray member Bents
Have never ever been a member of another AFL club in my lfe
We lived near the Western Oval (as it was called them) when I was a kid, it was within walking distance to our home. That's my only connection to the Bulldogs.
I am and have been a member of the RFC since 1981!!! No breaks 32 years straight. Have been supporting them since I was 5 years old.
For the record (and I will not be discussing this again) I have 2 Inner Sanctum Memberships with player sponsorship attached to one of them. I also have 3 normal memberships with reserved seats in the Southern Stand plus I am foundation member of the Tommy Hafey Club.
So please don't ever question my committment to this footy club
That's why when people accuse me of not being a member I get bloody angry because it is blatantly untrue and to do so is accusing me of lying which is again untrue and as I said offensive :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Post pics of your membership then

Why should I?
Are you now calling me a liar?
:banghead :banghead :banghead
I want to see proof
I've run into WP many times at the footy.
Did he show you his membership ?
Thanks JVT :thumbsup
Considering that both JVT and I sit in a member's reserved seat area then I reckon it's fair to say we are both members.
There are fair few people on this web-site who can confirm that I am indeed a member.
Or perhaps are they lying as well :banghead
And why do you need proof? :banghead
I don't go around demanding people prove to me that they are members so where do you get off demading it of me?
So it is clear you are accusing me of lying :banghead
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I can guarantee WP is a RFC member and a long-term one to boot. Ridiculous trolling to claim otherwise ::).

I could not give a flying eff if Phil Mrakov played for our ressies or Manangatang thirds and I don't want proof of it. I simply cannot understand how someone cannot take someone's word on face value yet seem to can't prove that so and so played at Reserves level in the 1990's when records may have been sketchy due to the crippling financial predicament the club was in. As for WP I believe every word as I have met many other forumites who are members and have reserve seats as me.
What I find sad is that this forum has degenerated into a site for a select few trolls who ruin every topic and turn it all around to make it about themselves whilst subtlety taking a dig at the club and the players for the most part and claim to have a word or the word on all that is Punt Rd as if they are in the inner sanctum when they really don't know squat.
Whilst I understand everyone is entitled to their opinion regardless of how valid it is maybe the moderators rather than worrying about the odd f or skata which in the context of a post may be appropriate how about issuing bans on posters who contribute post after post of faeces for the sake and quality of this site.
Thanks
Don.

We're still 15k ahead of this time last year and we'll catch up to the Hawks and more likely than not pass them by by the start of the season.

This time last year, Hawthorn were about 16k ahead of us if not more from memory, yet we ended up just 2000 behind according to the official membership figures and in front of them if we added the 5000 that signed up for the 2013/14 offer. We have a history of more supporters signing up closer to the start of the season when compared to clubs like Hawthorn.

The Magpies expect to surpass 100,000 members - an aggregate of all categories - soon, with most of the growth in non-access memberships, in a trend that other clubs are following.

Interesting points in the article is that it says 1/ that these "non access" memberships add about a $1 million to their bottom line, 2/ they are targeting these type of members and 3/ that for 2013 they had over 20k members from interstate
Hmmmm been saying for a while now the Tigers need to offer something, anything to people who generally cannot get to game. Could be a huge money spinner ;D

Hi OE. Have we changed our membership schedule this year? In other words have some of the members that signed up later last year become roll o Ed members this year because of a club push?
There will most likely be more rollover members as more and more people sign up for the automatic renewal service; however I don't know the numbers. Likewise I don't know how many new members have joined up (a question for RFCO?). We know 5000 will be those who signed up late in the 2013 season for 2014 which included a free rest of 2013 membership.
What I go more on is trends. If both this and last year's tallies settle to a consistent growth relative to one another then the gap between them becomes a guide to how much the membership has increased from the previous year and a guide to what final target we will reach.

From RFC_Official:
Just to update you guys on this:
We have 7,500 new members signed (Which includes 5k from the “Buy 2014, get 2013 free campaign”). Based on our projected retention, we think we need about 20k new members so we are tracking reasonably well.
We have a huge acquisition campaign that will be launched at Family Day. Hoping that drives big numbers through Feb and March at which point we will re-assess strategies for the remainder of the year.

Reviewing every AFL Club’s Membership Campaign Slogan
Titus O'Reily
Dec 19 2013
ESSENDON:
SLOGAN: Yet to be announced.
REVIEW: After the ‘Whatever it Takes’ mess, you can understand why the marketing department may be a little gun shy.
Apparently ‘Stand by Hird’ and ‘Die Andrew Die’, while testing well, were seen as too controversial.
SUGGESTION: Help Pay Our Legal Bills ;D

That all happened before the Christmas break and would have been caused by the timing of the processing of their various membership packs/categories at a guess (we processed ours earlier and so looked like we had caught them). We are still much closer to them than this time last year - we were over 13k behind them after last year's break.

I hate to harp on this, but they are the most successful VFL/AFL club over the last 50 years, its only natural they are slowly becoming a powerhouse

Still, they've got a long way to go to catch up to our supporter base size although I think they're slowly closing in on Carltank. But they haven't been poo for ages and when they are they'll draw less than Melbourne again :D
Minnows imo. Only look decent sized when they're winning

Struth you're hard to please
First day the Club's open for business since the Xmas/New Year break
Alot of folks are still on holidays; just look at the roads during peak hour the last 2 days so to expect much action on the sales front this week is drawing a rather large bow one would think

imo we should've sold 10k memberships before xmas like hawthorn did but that's just my opinion. I guess the membership department were on holidays
-
Paul little is ringing people who didn't resign and convincing them to rejoin the cult of delusion
What are we doing? Twiddling our knobs

imo we should've sold 10k memberships before xmas like hawthorn did but that's just my opinion. I guess the membership department were on holidays
So the fact that we are 13k+ ahead of the same period last year means nothing? :-\
Xmas 2013 Xmas 2012 Change
Richmond 42,660 28,889 +13,771
So instead of constantly concentrating what Hawthorn are doing and trying to compare the RFC to them....
Why don't just once look at our numbers and recognise what they represent and what they mean in regards to where we've come from and what we are building too.
Here's a quick stat for you: our numbers state that we have had a 47% increase in members compared to the same period last year.
And just to make a comparison to the Hawks for you seeing it so important in how you view things
Hawthorn 50,008 42,729 +7,279
Their increase in numbers @ Xmas 2013 compared to Xmas 2012 is only 17%
Reckon it's pretty clear who's growing their membership numbers at a greater rate for season 2014
-
Reaching 50k by the end of the Jan. should see us tracking nicely for a final tally of 75k.

Let's wait and see what happens from now until the start of the season. Currently we are on track for over 73k members and we have a history of most of our membership signing up closer to the start of a new season as opposed to other clubs that have a early rush before petering out.

Say hello to more reserved seating areas instead as that will mean more revenue for the Club.
Expanding the capacity of the 'G may be good for the growing Tiggy bandwagon but the MCC won't want a greater capacity as their Dees would lose even more money playing in front of just 15k people in an even larger (say 120k) stadium. They lose enough $$$ as is playing home games in a 100k stadium as the break-even crowd mark is around 30-35k(?) IIRC.

Well if they cant be stuffed sending out renewal notices then maybe the members wont be give a stuff either. seriously no wonder trying to save money a piddly amount of money here and their.
1) they sent out the yearly book as an email attachment
2) sending out membership reminders via email.
I understand the stuff of not printing and sending the year book but if they gonna be stingy about sending out a 1 page renewal notice then ... anyway Ill get around to when I have time.

Smokey does the green line represent the number of people buying Charcoal Chickens in Thornbury?? I notice a bit of a plateau after Dan Connors left the area in December. ;D

Where's the Debba's fish and chips in Doreen line? That's where Connors gets his food these days

Funnily enough, even though that's a photoshopped pic (very good skills I might add), that was actually where he was sitting when I saw him. But he had a fine Anglo Saxon woman with him

It seems odd that we would have the lowest revenue per membership.
It may mean we have far far fewer full memberships than say Carlton. If this is so, we must convert those to full memberships on the coming years.
-
What are great thing, making it affordable for more supporter's to become members
-
We need to up the membership cost in all categories to a fee that's appropriate for WP
-
whilst I have been a supporter of upping the price in the past we shouldnt forget our working class club roots and make sure our prices are low enough for any of our supporters to become members.
-
What are great thing, making it affordable for more supporter's to become members
Great for the supporters, but the club's yield compared to its rivals is down considerably.
Getting the supporters on board is the hard part, once onboard, its then a matter of upgrading them as the teams onfield success grows. Hopefully over the next few years with some sustained competitive performances more supporters will upgrade and help lift the yield.
-
considering the club wont be sending out postal renewals until some time in february I think we are travelling pretty well membership wise. 75,000 certainly isnt out of the question.
-
Nope don't agree, leave the membership affordable for all tigers...As I keep harping on..find alternative revenue streams which will help build the bottom line .
-
in terms of increasing the yield per member the focus should be on reserve seats not the cost of membership IMHO. lets increase the number of reserve seats we sell by focusing on the benefits of that for the club rather than upping the price of membership which may impact supporters on lower incomes. Im a socialist ;D

Yeah I mean reserved seating upgrades when talking about increasing yield. Hopefully that starts happening. Agree Its important to keep affordable packages for those that struggle financially.
-
Nope don't agree, leave the membership affordable for all tigers...As I keep harping on..find alternative revenue streams which will help build the bottom line .
With clubs like pies, blues and hawks pokie revenue far exceeding ours, its harder and harder to make it up in other areas. Yield is an area the club can control and as harsh as it sounds should look at increasing it, especially when comparing it to our rivals. Would rather they did that than buy more pokies.
-
surely when negotiating sponsorships the number of members would be a bargaining tool, ie the more members the more exposure potential sponsors would get?
The unknown would be how much by compared to to raising revenue per membership and associated drop in numbers.
-
Yeah its a fine line

We need to look further past the confines of the standard football club revenue-raising square. Look at other revenue streams - interests in other businesses, property, ventures etc, it doesn't have to be focussed on members, pokies and pubs.
-
There are some very well run clubs who have established foundations over many years. We've gotten our house in order over the past few years. Yes we need other revenue streams, but the point is, we are spotting these very well run clubs millions of dollars head start due to pokie and membership revenue which imo is unnecessary as our yield is lower than basket clubs like the bulldogs, melbourne and saints. If we want to close the gap, having a massive yield difference means we're playing catchup from the get go. 60k members x even $20 = $1,200,000. That would be handy. If we had the same yield as the pies - 60k x $72 = $4,320,000. Wow. Improve that AND invest and we'll be a powerhouse.

Collingwoods membership should be interesting given how they finished off the year and how they seem to be slowly sliding. If they have a poor year in 2014 I cant see them growing any further in 2015.
Carlton have extremely average numbers. Crap really.
Port is almost overtaking Adelaide :)
The Saints, Dogs and Brisbane are all a worry. North are much better than I would have expected.

You're on the money and while they're at it they can raise the membership costs. It's laughable that we have 65,000 members but are making less money that Carltank and Hawthor

Maybe part of the reason we have so many more members than carlton is because our membership is so much more affordable

Would you rather have more members or more profit ? I know which one I prefer...
-
I want both. But the financial side needs to be addressed properly and long term, rather than relying on membership which ebbs and flows with the success of the club. The club needs to find other revenue streams, they are boxing themselves in if revenue from membership is the be all end all

We passed 50k on Mar 26 last year so we are 7 prime weeks of sales ahead of last year. In that period in 2013 we sold 13k of memberships so a similar return would see us around 63k at the season start. And in 2013 we sold ~23k from now until the end of sales so a similar return to that would give us around 73k in 2014. Not hard to see a few wins in the early rounds pushing us past 75k.
-
That's how many we should sell every day

The revenues from those sales go into this years (2014) P&L.
In the 2013 Financials in the balance sheet there is an item listed as "Income Received in Adavance". Any monies received from the sale of any 2014 membership that were recieved prior to 1/11/2013 would be recorded in that account and re-allocated this year to the P&L

We've had the second biggest increase of any club over the past week (behind the Eagles).
Day by day we're also bridging the gap on the Hawks. We've gained over another thousand on them over the past week.

if they done the mailout earlier they would have had another 10,000 members by now after tonights disgraceful effort i doubt they will all sign up. tonights loss is a big loss in terms of loss of memberships. I blame RFCO for everything- tonights loss and the fact that the 75,000 member target is now in serious question.

Yes
because of Friday night I reckon there's a good chance they would have sold a few on Friday before the NAB game

Maybe 700 includes family day but is net of the number that were microwaved on Friday night?

Lol at that other AFL powerhouse Carltank. After their sudden 5K in a week increase earlier in Feb (which included their Family Day so that might be the cause) they have reverted to form now with 161 new members in the past week. they have a couple of businessmen who buy thousands of memberships wouldnt be surprised to see another 3000-4000 memberships purchased under that scenario.

WP I think knows the answer to this. Do we count people twice if they buy two memberships?

WP I think knows the answer to this. Do we count people twice if they buy two memberships?
I was told when asked this a few years back by the them m'ship manager at the time that people who buy more than 1 membership are only counted as 1 member.
Eg I have multiple memberships (5) but I was told I am counted/recorded as a single member only. I only have 1 membership number (account) that has multiple membership attached to it. So it is the membership number that is counted
Don't believe it has changed but maybe Stig could confirm

Sorry YBB I believe what you've said is incorrect based on what I was told see above

That's not what I'm talking about. If you buy a membership for your cat, for example, and the cat has a name and the name is on the membership, that is a separate membership. Of course if the memberships are made out to you then they wouldn't be counted.

Ok fair enough - understand what you are saying.
But Pet memberships are not counted in our membership figures
And BTW if you buy I membership for your Pet (I have 3 pet ones on top of the 5 people ones mentioned before ;D) the cards don't have your pet's name on it it has your name or my name on them . My 3 (Jonty, Flame & Nisha) aren't very happy about that ;D

Sorry YBB I believe what you've said is incorrect based on what I was told see above
So the last 10 years that my dad has been gifting my brother and I our memberships for Christmas we haven't been included in the count? That can't be true.
That's how the Hawks get about 10,000 extra every year I thought...
-
I have three memberships.
Maybe it's time for my two boys to pay for their own memberships.
We could see a jump in memberships if everyone did this.
:thumbsup
If it's in their names it would count. I had a vague memory of WP explaining exactly what he has today, that if they're in the same name, they don't count.
-
I was told when asked this a few years back by the them m'ship manager at the time that people who buy more than 1 membership are only counted as 1 member.
Eg I have multiple memberships (5) but I was told I am counted/recorded as a single member only. I only have 1 membership number (account) that has multiple membership attached to it. So it is the membership number that is counted
Don't believe it has changed but maybe Stig could confirm
I buy 8 kids memberships - they all get their packs delivered to their own addresses with their own names on the cards but if I call the club to make any changes etc they all appear under the general umbrella of my account number. Are mine counted as 1 or 9?

I do the same with the Peanuts up in Qld Smokey
And they are counted separately
They have their own account numbers (membership numbers) but they are linked (crossed referenced if you like) to my account.
The other person in our household who has a membership outside the "kids" (doggies) has a separate membership as well but their and my account are crossed reference as well.

So the last 10 years that my dad has been gifting my brother and I our memberships for Christmas we haven't been included in the count? That can't be true.
Think you need to re-read my post Andyy
Will explain again: In hoepfully simple terms I have 5 memberships in my name but I am only counted as 1 member. I pay for a 3 memberships for my Nephew & Nieces but they are counted separately because the m'ships are in thier names not mine
So in your case as tigs2011 psoted if the memberships you & your brother receive but your father pays for are in your names then you are counted as members. If they are in your Dad's name then they would not be counted
-
I've just asked Stig on the RFC Official thread about how the numbers are counted so hopefully we get confirmation one way or another

Yes most likely
As per Mr OE's post from 26/2/2014
We're 10,805 ahead of this time last year.
26/02/2014 54,907
26/02/2013 44,102
We've had the second biggest increase in membership both in terms of aggregate and percentage increase on last year (behind Port).
We are also only 5,414 off last year's official record (60,321).

If you take a look at BF Hawks forum, you will see that they have $20 three game memberships.
They are presently using a charity incentive and thats a good thing.
But if a high profile business choterie member invested just $1000, that would increase their membership by 5000.

Not going to get into a debate on whether membership prices should be increased. But an increase of $40 on a basic 11 gamer is around a 20% increase. If you do that to an 11 gamer how much do you increase the 16/17 gamers, or family memberships by?
And just a few points re the table:
1/ Clubs don't all charge the same price for a basic membership. Eg for memory we charged around $180 for an 11 game last season (no reserve seat), other clubs charged $190. there's a difference right there
2/ The figures for all clubs I would assume include coterie member numbers. Other clubs are way ahead of the RFC when it comes to Coterie numbers. If the RFC keeps growing these then your revenue per member automatically jumps
3/ Both Carton & the Bumbling's Home Gorund is Etihad and reserve seats are more expensive than the MCG. So, therefore depending on what margin they are charging on the reserve seat sales their revenues will be automatically higher (actually seems to apply to all Etihad residents except for N0rt)
4/ the figures in the table have made the same assumption I did re profit on membership sales and that is you can only take the info we have from the RFC's fin reports and come up with the number. There could be variables that we are not aware of. Unless the club declares a figure (and it isn't req'd to BTW) then the number is open to conjecture and debate.
Would love the club to actually declare the figure and end the conjecture
-
According to those figures
Hawthorn had 3032 more members than us and had an extra $11.21 per member revenue
that = $33,988.72
yet Hawks revenue is supposedly
$1,141,397 more than ours
The numbers dont make sense.
Accountants Please ;D

You need to multiply the difference over the entire membership number to get the 1,141,397. Just multiplying the 3032 won't do it.
-
Yep those 3032 members you need to include everything they pay and then times the other 60,000+ by $11. :whistle

recent surveys by the club have shown that they need to do more to make interstate members feel more involved. (whatever that means)

This was discussed several weeks back and most tiger supporters were dead against it. As hard as it is for the average punter the bottom line is we need to increase our yield, how its done is open for debate as WP has illustrated above

apparently we get an allocated number of seats at interstate games. People would nominate a game for a ticket and not show and they had other people wanting to go but couldn't use the seats.

the letter said adults will incur $10 per game to book a seat, when booking interstate tickets.
That to me reads that each adult will incur $10, which is $10 per seat.
either way it is a disgrace, considering that, I'd think, most interstate members would not use their full allocation of 5 games and our membership is basically a donation to the club.

Both teams have had strong preseasons but the Hawks have been dominating matches winning by over 100 points each outing. Thats a great idea CUB! A bit like when the banks offer to raise your credit card limit by just punching in a simple code online. Really easy to do with instant results.
Not like the NRL to think of something that the AFL hasn't already tried. ;D

Following on from Peggy’s announcement at Season Launch, we can confirm that our membership record has been beaten for the 4th consecutive year.
We have surpassed our all-time record of 60,300 which we achieved in 2013. We are incredibly appreciative to all our members who continue to astound the entire AFL community with your incredible loyalty and passion. We will not be further publicising this announcement but wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge those members of various forums who have such a keen interest in our membership number. The eyes of our membership team remain firmly set on the strategic plan goal of 75,000 members and rest assured, your club will leave no stone un-turned to achieve this ambitious goal.

We got another 10k between now and season's end last year so a similar return this year will give us around 72k. Next couple of week's game results might be the making or breaking of 75k.
-
We wont get anywhere near 75k. disappointing effort really.
Think you said something similar this time last year when they were targeting 60k Ramps, you said they wouldn't reach it
And they got to 60k
At this time time last year we had 50,893 members
(see: http://oneeyed-richmond.com/forum/index.php?topic=16430.msg358189#msg358189)
So we are just under 11k ahead of last year. Would think that is damn fine effort
Will we get to 75k? Maybe but probalby doubtful at the moment
But I reckon we'll get 70k easily and that's bloody good considering where we were 3-5 years ago

Burgess never would have come to Richmond - we tried our very best to get him and failed. His wife is from SA so that's why he went back there as she has family there.
It had nothing to do with Hinkley.

So he did what the wife wanted even though he's from Melbourne? His wife has family there? Darren doesn't have any family I'm guessing?

His family were killed by a man eating tiger while on a holiday in India circa 1985 so we were never going to get him, too many bad memories. Be a bit more sensitive. His media monitor reads these forums for him.

Not quite sure why they'd send a text to people who already have reserve seats with their memberships, especially those who already have the "premiership circle" seats (or are in coteries)... it's not like they can upgrade any further. ;D
But I certainly wouldn't mind a refund based on the saving they are offering :whistle

The new ticketing system from the afl is also costing us imo. Fancy paying for a membership and then having to fork out an extra $40 per 1 category game not to sit in the nosebleed.

Hello my fellow Tigers! I'm a newby here so be nice to me while I learn the ropes. I'm 49yo & have supported the Tigers since I turned 4! I have been a member for over 30 years & converted my whole family into Tigers by dragging them to a match in '73. One look at the great Royce Hart at his best was all it took to make my family see the light, my 81yo folks are still very active in the social groups & still hold memberships this year. Unfortunately I am unable to attend games these days due to disability (chronic back condition) & being a pensioner (now) I cant really afford a membership these days. But I have 32 consecutive (un-microwaved) membership tickets to remind me of better times. I've been reading this forum for a while & finally decided to join in, it does look like fun! There isn't enough space here to go over all the highlights this club has provided me over the years, but one thing that stands out was being chosen for banner duty for KB's 4ooth game. That is me on the near post in the video footage & I nearly forgot to help ground the post as KB crashed through the banner, I was too busy punching the air at the time! That is a memory that I cherish, I still regard it as an absolute honor to be chosen for my small part in such a big moment in the club's history. The other moment that stands out was a visit to my Primary school by Kevin Sheedy & Neville Roberts in '74! I wore my no.4 Richmond jumper for the training session they held on our school oval & I can still remember Sheeds cheering me on for taking a nice grab in front of him! He even called me 'Royce' for the rest of the session! ;D Did I forget to mention that Royce Hart is my all time hero? The fabulous Royce Hart, the courageous Francis Bourke & the Ghost are my favorite Tigers of old, KB, Disco, Flea & Clokey aren't far behind. Lets hope that some of our current players can knock off some of the Tigers of old! Dusty & Jack are right up there these days, not to mention Cotch & Lids!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to some blogging about my beloved Tigers! I'm the glass half full type, otherwise known as a loyal life-long supporter!
In keeping with the thread topic:- Its great to see the club breaking membership records this year! Remember, it's not about what your club can do for you ... :gotigers :clapping

How? I'll just roar anyway when we lose by 11 goals is that it. Or I'll heartily sing, clap and stomp my feet when the club song comes on when we run out prior to the game.
32 years The skata cycle. Sit on the can and smell the skata you did in 1983 as well as the ones you are doing now. Aaah that's the stuff. Magnolias.
How about changing your motto next year to 33 years The Skata cycle.

We were ranked 3rd last year in terms of "access memberships" according to the Age.
While the Blues hope to increase their membership via more presence at the MCG, AFL figures obtained by Fairfax Media show that they surprisingly ranked fourth in the competition for 2013 in ''access memberships'' – members whose package buys entry to games – with 45,613, behind only Collingwood (68,955 access members), Hawthorn (63,353, counting Tasmania) and Richmond (52,488). Adelaide (44,436), West Coast (43,945), Essendon (42,614) and Geelong (41,148) are all marginally behind the Blues on that count. The figures include discounted three-game memberships, as well as the traditional 11-game package and AFL club support memberships.

So the strategic plan goals of 3 finals series, 0 debt and 75k members by 2014 gets two strikes and the only one that was achieved was through punters chipping in.
Wonder if at any point anyone will be held accountable for a spectacular failure in achieving these goals?

Had enough of this continual grab and after 28 years will be downgrading the membership next year.
Stuff the fan 'experience' just provide a consistent no compromise contest without all fluff and excuses.
-
No update today.
We're 7,646 ahead of the same time last year.
09/05/2014 - 64,156 ( ? )
09/05/2013 - 56,510 (60,321)
09/05/2012 - 48,483 (53,027)
Past years say we'll add 'only' a further 4k-4.5k. So we're unlikely to reach 70k unless there's a massive and sudden switch in onfield fortunes in the next month.

No one is going to be held accountable and we all know it. The only people putting in at Richmond are the supporters and the sponsors. A few players are putting in but 90% of the people at Richmond whether they be players or just workers probably dont give a stuff and are just at Richmond to be on the gravy train.

They jumped from 40k to 50k in one week. They gifted 3 game memberships to current full paying members. A host of them rang sen and were talking about the free membership they had received from carlton even though they were already members.
Purely done for a commercial benefit. The more members you can boast the greater the bargaining power when it comes to negotiating sponsorship deals.

The Dogs also below their expectations.

They got 50k last year, well not really (Mathieson bought like 2k memberships)
They jumped from 40k to 50k in one week. They gifted 3 game memberships to current full paying members. A host of them rang sen and were talking about the free membership they had received from carlton even though they were already members.
Purely done for a commercial benefit. The more members you can boast the greater the bargaining power when it comes to negotiating sponsorship deals.
Scum
Yep although everyone does it now - dawks were the first club to cotton onto this.
We should do it too and say we reached 75k hahaha

I recall having an argument against some posters who were adamant that on field performance in the first 8-10 weeks of the season was not linked to extra membership numbers

This may or may not be true depending on how they structured it. i.e. rollover members being re-signed early.

True TOO but after the initial burst of including rollovers in November which had us 17k ahead of last year at the same of the year, the running tally eventually levelled out to 10k-11k ahead of last year for the months leading into the season Jan-Feb-March. The lead has only halved to 5000 since the season has taken a nosedive onfield.

5000 new members @ $150 average = $750,000. Next year will be double
not to mention drop in crowd numbers.

So that's 2000 memberships since the last week of April.
Didn't they also count about 4000 memberships for last year into this years number in some dodgy promotion?
Anyways, 3-0-75 has 2 targets where one has a direct link to the other.
One of those targets is the clubs core business which it just doesn't seem to have the capability (on or off field) to deliver despite the BS they continue to believe in themselves.

The Herald-Sun has our final 2014 tally at 66,122.
Tigerland bandwagon overflowing with yellow and black supporters
Peter Rolfe
Herald-Sun
August 22, 2014
RICHMOND’S bandwagon is reaching peak capacity as the red-hot Tigers march towards a fairytale finals berth on the back of a seven match winning streak.
As the Tigers eye an eighth straight win against St Kilda on Sunday to keep their slim finals hope alive, new AFL figures reveal their fans are the third most proud and paid up in the league.
Richmond this year hit a record membership tally of 66,122, up 5801 on last year despite a tardy start to the season.
Collingwood again sold the most club memberships with 79,347 - 920 more than last season - even though the Pies are set to miss the finals.
Reigning premier Hawthorn 68,650, up more than 5200 on last year, to sit second.
But Richmond’s increase in membership purchases was bigger than any Victorian club and rising star Brandon Ellis hoped the team’s late surge would draw a huge crowd to its last Victorian game of the regular season.
“We want to see as many Richmond fans as possible supporting us at the MCG on Sunday,’’ he said.
``They’ve been huge for us all year
“We draw off their energy, and we think they’re the best fans in the league.”
Finals or no finals, Richmond will take time to thank fans for cheering them through a roller coaster season with a thank-you day for members at Punt Rd Oval after training on Saturday.
Richmond legend Neville Crowe will be honoured before Sunday’s twilight match against St Kilda as he is driven around the MCG and retiring cult Tiger hero Jake King will be recognised.
More AFL club memberships than ever were sold this year with the league-wide total of 804,480 more than 6 percent higher than last year.
One in every 28 Australians is now an AFL club member with 12 clubs breaking all-time records including Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, the Tigers and the Pies.
AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said Aussie Rules fans were among the most ``loyal, passionate and committed’’ in the world.
``It underlines how much the game means to so many people and why fans are so important to the game,’’ he said.
