So.....too early to place him the "VFL Gun/AFL Hack" category?

Yes.

When Tippett pushed him away like a fly I thought "too small"
do you apply that to every player that gets pushed aside by forwad/ruck, or just those you have decided are no good already?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

As long as Newman is gifted games based on his mythical contribution to the club, the development of these kids will be hindered.

Development, damien, not pension benefits.

Terrible game.

1 tackle in the forward 50 and looked way out of step with the pace of the game.

Not surprising seeing he'd played 3 qtrs of footy since round 3

Prepared to give him some time and few more games in a row

Are you suggesting he's not fit enough or hasn't found his touch?
Why play him if he's not fit enough or out of touch?

To me he looked way off the pace. Didn't looked like he knew where to run to, wasn't at the fall of the ball at ground level, he disposal was atrocious and he only laid one tackle in the forward 50. For someone taking Morris's spot he didn't harass or chase near enough and most importantly didn't kick a goal or even threaten too.

I'm suggesting he hasn't found his touch after missing 10 weeks of footy

Personally I wouldn't have played him after a VFL hit out of just 3 qtrs. needs more match time than that especially a bloke on his first season

Would just like to give him a few more opportunities before writing him off.

yeah, of course every player adjusts to the pace of AFL footy instantly  ::)

Just watched the replay again and he was more involved than I remember on the night.  Wasn't up with the pace of the game but that's very common with a lot of new players.  I'm happy to give him a week or 2 more yet, even if only to give him a proper taste so he can go back and work on the things that he needs to.

He was ok Friday night. Went to the right spots and has good pace. Let's see how he goes in the coming weeks.

I reckon he knows how to play the game. We have yet to see to what standard he can play. Time will tell but I get the feeling he could be a handy squad player probably a player ranked 23-30 on a list you can trust to do a job at some point.

Will be given 1 or 2 more chances to raise the bar , plenty of options for his spot . I reckon he has upside

Missed shitloads of footy and already outplayed Morris to date. Will be a very good asset, just watch.

Yep give him a block of games, let's see how he goes.
He'll be playing against kids in some cases who he would be playing against at VFL level if they were here so I expect to see him have a greater impact next week if he is selected.

I don't feel confident that he won't be dropped to make way for Morris
