In this week's inside Football there is a listing of all team membership numbers.

I post the full list over the weekend but interestingly the Pies are down - going by inside footy the have just under 30k  :clapping :clapping great effort that  ;D

It's interesting if the Pies are down that far. I think with them down there and Ricmond struggling that its fair to say Essendon are probably the best supported team in Victorian sport at the moment. A fair bit of it is gloryhunting recent arrivals but nonetheless they probably have more support than Collingwood at the moment. To be fair to them 45,000 at TD for what was an inter state v Swans Rd.1 was  great attendance.

According to Inside Footy, the crowd for the Coll vs Crows games was just over 35,500.  You'd have to say that's a disappointing crowd for them.

The first few rounds will be all over the place because the MCG is unavailable at the moment.  But as we have Friday night footy, stretching the round to Monday nights is a bit much.  We either have footy on Friday night or Monday night.  Not both.

1,000 ahead of the ticketed figure at the same time last year. If we can remain competitive then 30k may still not be out of reach.

That is a good point Tigerspirit but to be fair the attendance was about 4,000 up on the same fixture last year. if you look at the Collingwood crowds the inter states have not really been exceptional and have often been below Essendon's in recent years. Where the Magpies really attract huge crowds in in games v melbourne opposition where both their fans come out and fans of the other clubs come out to see the game against the "big ticket" team. Anzac day, Pies v carlton, Pies v us etc are all huge games nad let's be honest everyone wants to beat them so i think that explains the level of attendances as much as the core pies support does.

We only sold about 400 memberships from the last update...on that trend we wont make 30,000. I urge all of us who have nephews and nieces and or brothers and sisters- if they are Richmond supporters and dont have a membership- buy one for them and help our club get to 30k.

We were given the worse draw in terms of attracting members. Only one home game in the first month, 3 games against top 4 sides and back to back interstate trips. Hopefully we can get more supporters on board when we return to the 'G in a fortnight against the Blues. A upset win in Brissy wouldn't go astray in the lead up to it.

What about Essendon ?

I couldn't find an updated figure. Last one was 32,000 three weeks ago. You'd reckon they'd be near 35,000 by now - number one in Victoria.

As at 19/04/06:

Ticketed: 27,495
Non-ticketed: 6,529
Combined:  34,024

We've now passed all previous years final tallies except for 1999 (29,047) and last year (28,029) mind you we're roughly 850 ahead of last year's tally at the same time of year (21/04/05) - Ticketed - 26,652; Non-ticketed - 5,908; Combined -  32,560.

1,553 needed to break the club ticketed membership record.
