I have a mate who is in the inner sanctum of North that says we are into Scotty Thompson big time. Apparently he has put off all contract talks with North till after the season.......

RE Bate, the kid can play and has plenty of upside (I think his development has been hindered at Melbourne) but I'm not sure he is a fit for us and I wouldn't want to give  to much for him, straight swap for Morton.......

Sorry Jake, I don't rate Bate at all.

Bate does not fill any need and is a list clogger at Melbourne.
Don't rate him.

He is one of the best performed players going around in the VFL who has been hard done by at the Demons.
You might find we have already sounded him out .

If we have then it just reaffirms my belief that Craig Cameron is a terrible list manager and we are a half way house for a Melbourne players.

Would not consider Bate regardless of how good he is at VFL level. That's just crazy. Would rather spend our resources elsewhere. Bate is a list clogger and has not set the world on fire at AFL level.
We need to get rid of list cloggers and replace them with fresh talent rather than replace them with list cloggers from other clubs.

What's funny is that Houli Grigg and Miller were all regarded as list cloggers at the end of last year(houli 4 games last year).

gee if the Carlton forums react to loosing a list clogger in the way they did with Grigg, imagine what would happen if they lost a player they rated  ::)

Surprising, wouldn't have thought a key defender was a priority unless they are planning to shift Astbury forward.

Maric will be going to Tigerland (if the deal gets done).
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Is this a mass debate on how we rate Bate?  ;D

Maybe a change of scenery might be good for him. I'd take a look. Can kick and takes a strong mark. Look what Miller has done for our forward structure.

People could easily make an argument that Miller & Grigg are not long term players. Miller will be retired soon and Grigg cant kick.

Westhoff is a good get for Poort.

That means there is absolutely no chance he'll play for us  ;D

Morre was the player I wanted most out of Port even above Butcher.  :'(
