More tickets will be made available for our Cairns home game next year...
Suns and Tigers to clash in Cairns
By Kerry Larsen
Port Douglas News
November 2, 2011
The Gold Coast Suns are confirmed for another AFL clash against Richmond at Cairns’ Cazaly’s Stadium next year, this time in a twilight game.
The AFL recently released its 2012 fixture, with the second Suns-Tigers Cairns clash set for Saturday, July 14.
The 4.40pm start will mean the game will be played in cooler conditions, with the second half to be less effected by the unpredictable and swirling Cazaly’s wind, which generally dies down around sunset.
Last July, the “sold out” sign went up on the Cazaly’s gate as 11,000 tickets were snapped up months in advance, but next year, an additional 2500 tickets will be made available.

SUNS, Tigers tickets on sale
Port Douglas News
Monday 16 April 2012
Tickets for the 2012 Toyota AFL Premiership Season match to be played at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns on Saturday 14 July are now on sale.
The game is to be played between Richmond and the Gold Coast SUNS under lights for the first time at Cazalys, and the match is attracting strong interest.
And in a win for local sports fans, the capacity of the venue has been increased by an additional 1,000 tickets following the sold-out match in 2011. Through re-configuration of facilities inside the venue, the team at Cazalys have been able to add in room for a bigger crowd.
Richmond is keen to return to Cairns and secure their first win on Far North Queensland soil.
"We are still a young, developing team and travel provides a great learning experience," Richmond Captain Chris Newman said.
"Richmond has over 500,000 fans across Australia and games like this give us a chance to play in front of supporters that might not get to many games. We hope to see as many of the Yellow and Black army there as possible."
Gold Coast SUNS captain Gary Ablett is also looking forward to the match. "The win against Richmond in Cairns was one of our most memorable experiences in our first season.
"It was also pretty special for our North Queensland players like Jarrod Harbrow and Charlie Dixon to come home to Cairns to play AFL football in front of family and friends. It will be great to see a big crowd at Cazalys again this year," he said.
The Federal Government provided the necessary funds to upgrade Cazalys Stadium for 2011, including AFL standard change rooms and media facilities. The Queensland Government, AFL Cairns and local government have provided funding for the lighting upgrade for the twilight match this year.
Over 12,000 people are expected to attend the match. AFL fans in Far North Queensland can guarantee their place at the match by purchasing grandstand and general admission tickets online from Ticket Direct (http://www.ticketdirect.com.au/) or by phoning 1300 798 550.
Prices start at $22.50 for adults, $5 for kids 15 years or under or $45 for a family of four. Booking fees apply.
For more information about the match please contact AFL Cairns.

Done - Better not lose again !

Thanks for the heads-up, OE. I've got mine, lower grandstand, Section 3, Row E.
Let's hope the boys understand a bit more about using the trade winds to their advantage this year. It was a six or seven goal wind. Then again, they never looked like they were there to play last year.
-
Well I might just be there myself!!!!! :o
-
Sounds like we might have to organise a beer o'clock somewhere on the Cairns esplanade for OERites on excursion?

Tigers' Cairns bound: Gale ready for surprises
Murray Wenzel
Saturday, July 7, 2012
The Cairns Post
RICHMOND boss Brendon Gale has been in the game long enough to know you can never relax.
There is always something going on at a footy club, and the CEO needs to be on top of all of it.
Like on Tuesday morning, when two of his players missed training because they took sleeping tablets and slept in.
That is a massive no-no at Tigerland and was the final straw for Daniel Connors, who was told he was no longer welcome at the club.
His mate Dustin Martin, dubbed by many as part of the Tigers’ future, got two weeks’ suspension because it was his first slip-up.
It was up to Gale, a veteran of 244 games at Richmond, to get the full story and set the punishment.
One of the biggest controversies to hit the club in years, but Gale was ready for it.
"There’s 100 different things going on at any time at a club," he said.
"You’re never surprised, things change so fast."
"So in this case we didn’t rely on innuendo. We got the facts, formed a view and were transparent."
Times have changed since Gale’s playing days.
"We were just steak and eggs, garden variety footballers. Because of the media consumption now, these guys are entertainers, celebrity-type," he said.
Whether or not that’s fair doesn’t matter to Gale. It’s just a fact.
"Most are exceptional young men but others still struggle from time to time," he summed up.
Protecting the culture of the club, the Richmond brand and the members’ confidence is Gale’s priority.
"We are disappointed and so are the lads. I mean, Daniel Connors lost his job. But in one way it’s a valuable opportunity to reinforce what we stand for," he said.
"If you’re trying to build a high performance culture, you can’t compromise, because culture eats strategy for breakfast."
And it’s a stance that has been applauded by the majority of the AFL-addicted Melbourne media, who have pigeon-holed the Tigers as top eight material.
A win against Melbourne Demons at the MCG tonight and results going their way means the Tigers, who generally field the third-youngest list in the league, could well be back in the top eight after this round. Then it’s on to Cairns, a chance to exorcise some different demons after losing to the Gold Coast Suns on their first visit north last year.
It was not a happy trip for Gale, for a number of reasons.
"I’ve got a few memories that stick out,’’ he said.
"I was confronted by a couple of Richmond fans after the game; they were hostile, demanding answers … it was our home game and fanatical as they are.
"Then I sat next to a journalist on the plane home who was telling me about what he was going to write about us. Then my daughter vomited on me. What a day.
"It was terrible to lose a game we relocated – we received a lot of criticism. But I maintain my position that it was time to build then, not in five years."
Things may not have gone to plan, but Gale still saw the positives.
"The support, the colour, the atmosphere, the media coverage. I went for a jog on game day and was amazed at how the city was supporting it. I was getting stopped everywhere by people with Tigers scarves on. That gets lost in a bigger city like Melbourne."
Gale maintains his distance from the playing group, although he admits he gets caught watching them train from his office window that overlooks the famous Punt Road turf.
"These young men are amazing. You can see the difference in their experience now and I think there is a sense of redemption there, we’d like to even the score (Gold Coast in Cairns)."
They need the win too. Gale has penned some lofty goals that need ticking off. Their ‘‘3-0-75’’ plans involve making three finals series, having no debt and 75,000 members by 2015.
"That means we need to make finals this year."
It is for that reason, and 100 others, that Gale will be full of nerves at Cazalys next Saturday night watching his club compete.
He’s just hoping that this year he won’t have any use for that sick bag.
Richmond play the Gold Coast at Cazalys on July 14. Tickets can be purchased from Cazalys Social Club, online from Ticket Direct www.ticketdirect.com.au or by phoning 1300 798 550.

Preview: Richmond v Gold Coast
By Paul Daffey and Michael Whiting
10/07/2012
WHERE AND WHEN: Cazaly’s Stadium, Saturday, July 14, 4.40pm
LAST TIME: Gold Coast 12.13 (85) d Richmond 9.16 (70), round 17, 2011 at Cazaly’s Stadium
Richmond is one of five teams with a 7-7 record, stretching from St Kilda in eighth spot down to Fremantle in 13th. If the Tigers are to justify the bullish predictions about their finals chances, they really have to wallop strugglers like Gold Coast. The Suns are winless, but last week’s 14-point loss to Geelong sends some hope that a win might be on the horizon.
THE FOUR POINTS
Richmond
1. The Tigers were embarrassed by last year’s 15-point loss to Gold Coast. Conditions were windy, especially for footballers from Melbourne clubs who usually play at the MCG and Etihad Stadium, but that was no excuse. However, the Tigers were a young team and young teams have hiccups, but that won’t cut it if it happens again.
2. Richmond did well to defeat Melbourne by 23 points last week despite bringing seven players into the team that had lost the previous match to Adelaide. The Tigers showed a lack of cohesion against the Demons, which was understandable given the scale of the influx, but the cohesion should be better this week, and all those who got their chances against Melbourne will again be striving to impress.
3. Defender-cum-forward Luke McGuane made a good fist of saving his spot on the Tigers’ list with his performance against Melbourne. He had 13 disposals and kicked two goals, including a curling effort from the boundary, but the most impressive aspect of his game was the fact that he was an aerial threat. McGuane still has a way to go to retain his spot, but he made a step forward last week, and must repeat his efforts this round.
4. Bad kicking threatened to be costly against Melbourne last week, when the Tigers kicked 13.22 (101) in an inexplicably poor display in front of goal. It was a perfect winter’s day, after all. The worst offender last week was Jack Riewoldt, who kicked 1.5, while Shaun Grigg and Shane Edwards missed goals from the edge of the goalsquare. Expect a more vigilant approach to goalkicking this week.
Gold Coast
1. After starting him in defence this season, running him through the midfield and dropping him to reserves, coach Guy McKenna seems to have found the right home for Jared Brennan. The versatile Brennan was lively across half-forward against Geelong last week, and although unable to convert on the scoreboard, provided a target and contest so often lacking the season.
2. It's a problem that has dogged Gold Coast for much of its early existence - putting four consistent quarters together. The Suns showed against Geelong their best football was good enough to compete with the best, but with Richmond mindful of last year's upset, they will not be let off the hook in Cairns with any sub-par quarters. One positive for the Suns last week was winning just their second final quarter for the season.
3. With 23 touches in his return from a fractured elbow, Jarrod Harbrow brought much-needed run-and-carry back to the Suns. Along with Campbell Brown and Michael Rischitelli adding some punch after recovering from injury, the older heads showed just what a difference they can make. It's their job to again lead from the front against the Tigers.
4. Staring down the barrel of 22 straight losses, the next five rounds offer some hope for the Suns. Following the Tigers, they host the Brisbane Lions and Sydney Swans, travel to play Melbourne and then return to Metricon Stadium to play fellow expansion team GWS.

Tigers turn up the heat
richmondfc.com.au
Tue 10 Jul, 2012
Richmond will have a more solid preparation in Cairns, preparing for Saturday’s important Round 16 clash with the Gold Coast Suns, compared to the corresponding match last year.
On that occasion, the Tigers had just one training session, the day before their inaugural game against the Suns, which they subsequently lost by 15 points.
This time, the Tiger squad will arrive in Cairns on Thursday, train at Cazalys Stadium at 5pm that day, and have another training session on the Friday, at 4pm, before the Saturday encounter with Gold Coast at 4.40pm.
“It will be really good to get a feel of the conditions and the humidity and those sorts of things,” said hard-running Tiger midfielder, Shaun Grigg at today’s training hit-out at Fawkner Park.
“Getting away together as a group, and training up there a couple of times, will be good . . .
“We didn’t play to the level that we wanted to last year up in Cairns and Gold Coast obviously got the four points, so we’ll be looking to avenge that on Saturday.”

Suns rise is no surprise for Cairns-bound Tigers
Murray Wenzel
The Cairns Post
Tuesday, July 10, 2012
THE fight shown by the Gold Coast in their narrow loss to Geelong on Sunday may have surprised some pundits, but that resilience is not lost on Richmond forward Robin Nahas.
The pocket rocket was in the side that fell to the Coast in Cairns last season, an occasion he labelled a dark day.
But the pain still lingers and it means, despite 21 consecutive losses since then, the 24-year-old does not consider the Suns an easy target.
"The memories of the trip are not great, we definitely tried to forget that one," he said.
"We’ll need to be on our game. You only have to be 5 per cent off and you will lose."
The electric Nahas was one of his side’s best in their Saturday afternoon defeat of Melbourne, kicking four goals including the final quarter sealer.
That spark was missing 12 months before as the Suns came home with the wind to record a third victory in their debut season.
This weekend, Gold Coast will return to the scene of the crime with a certain measure of pride after trading blows with Geelong on Sunday.
"The boys can hold their heads up," Suns’ midfielder Danny Stanley said.
"It was encouraging to run out the game the way we did and I think we showed we’re no easybeats."
Stanley said heading back to Cairns would boost their confidence.
"There is some good memories up there. And after playing an experienced side like Geelong, coming up against a young side like Richmond; hopefully a combination of all those things can help us get a win."
And he said victory would come by being aggressive and taking risks.
"We were bold in our ball movement and we put the tackling pressure on.
"If we play like we did (versus Geelong) and continue to take risks, there is no reason we can’t take a win away."

The weather report here in FNQ is that the south-easterly breeze died down about 5pm last night. Before that, you could call it a 3 goal advantage, blowing straight down the ground. It's pretty warm and humid. There's just a light wind right now, also from the SE.
I'm planning to go along to training tonight, so I'll post what I see. So far, I've only noticed two other tiger fans, but it's early days yet.

AFL clubs' fly-in mission for Cazalys clash in Cairns
Murray Wenzel
The Cairns Post
Thursday, July 12, 2012
RICHMOND Tigers and the Gold Coast Suns will fly into Cairns today ahead of their AFL rematch at Cazalys on Saturday.
Last year almost 11,000 people flocked to the arena to watch the historic clash and organisers are tipping even more punters to come through the gates this year.
It will be the second of three years that Richmond trade their home game at the MCG for a trip north, with club members hungry for success after the Tigers were toppled in the corresponding clash last season.
Almost one-third of tickets already sold have gone to out-of-towners and AFL Cairns boss Gary Young encouraged local AFL fans to scoop up their ticket in advance to avoid game-day queues.
"Sales are on track to at least match last year’s game," he said.
"I want to stress how important it is to buy in advance though. If you already have your ticket, you can walk straight in the gate instead of waiting in a big line outside the stadium on the day."
Before that though, the public get a chance to meet the stars at an AFL fan day at Cazalys from 3-6pm tomorrow.
Saturday’s game starts at 4.40pm, in what will turn into the first AFL game under lights ever to be staged in North Queensland.
Tickets are on sale from Cazalys Social Club, www.ticketdirect.com.au or by phoning 1300 798 550.
Prices start at $20 for adults, $2 for kids 15 years or under, or $40 for a family of four. Booking fees apply.

Tigers depth faces test in Cairns
Murray Wenzel
The Cairns Post
Thursday, July 12, 2012
THE depth of Richmond will again be tested this weekend against a fearless Gold Coast side desperate to break their winless run.
The Tigers had seven missing as they crept past strugglers Melbourne last Saturday and coach Damien Hardwick is set to name another below-strength squad when teams are announced later today.
Midfielder Nathan Foley is the latest major casualty, ruled out for the season after a heel injury blew up again at training on Tuesday.
The news compounded their already sorry state with Ty Vickery (shoulder), Dylan Grimes (hamstring) and Jake King (knee) all facing long stints on the sidelines.
Richmond will also be without Daniel Jackson (AFL suspension) and Dustin Martin (club suspension) when they arrive in Cairns today, while they last week cut ties with troubled Tiger Daniel Connors.
But defender Alex Rance said those losses at the selection table would not harm their chances of getting some payback after losing to the Suns in Cairns last year.
"Yeah, the memories aren’t good, so we’re looking forward to some redemption," he said.
"We've got a bit of confidence now and I think we showed (in the win against the Demons last Saturday) that our depth is certainly better."
Rance is one of a host of young Tigers that shape as the future of the club. He said the advancement of their game since last year's trip to the Far North was clear to see.
"It’s very exciting to be at the club at the moment – the culture's awesome and we all get along well," he said.
The controversies of last week behind them, Rance reckons a top-eight finals' spot is a realistic goal.
"I'll sling the old cliche out: one game at a time," he said.
"But every team wants to win finals and it's something we are looking to."
A top-eight charge will be nothing but a daydream though, unless they can limit their turnovers and kick straighter than they did against the Dees last weekend.
The Tigers married 23 behinds with 13 majors in that game, keeping the lowly Demons in the contest as a result.
"It was a bit outrageous. It was probably just one of those days, but I remember how windy it was in Cairns last year, so it's something we’re going to have to adjust to," Rance said.
And he said they would need to be on full alert considering Suns captain Gary Ablett's announcement that his side would continue to take a "no fear" approach to their football.
"They've definitely got some stars. You've got to be careful against a side like that," Rance said.

To me, this is a danger match. Different ground, Suns have their belief back after last week and pressure is on Richmond to win as we are expected to. I personally hope we just don't grind out a horrible win like last match and win convincingly! It is important for our B, C and D grade players to build confidence in this match for our finals aspirations.

Richmond Tigers to spread AFL mantra in Cairns
Murray Wenzel
The Cairns Post
Friday, July 13, 2012
RICHMOND player Bachar Houli believes it is in the club's duty to spread the AFL message across the nation.
The defender arrived in Cairns yesterday with his team, where they were cheekily greeted by their Gold Coast opponent’s mascot Sunny Ray at the airport.
This is the second time the Tigers have taken their home clash away from the MCG in favour of Cazalys.
Earlier this week the AFL’s expansion boss said it was in their best interests to continue playing AFL premiership matches in Cairns beyond next year and Houli agreed.
"We need this game to be all across Australia, because I believe it’s the best game in the country," he said.
"We got the experience last year, we’ve got a great support base and we are able to mix with our fans from across the Far North who don’t have the privilege of seeing us in Melbourne every week."
The Richmond Football Club is based at the historic Punt Rd, flanked by the MCG, Melbourne Park tennis centre and AAMI Stadium, which houses the Melbourne Storm (rugby league), Melbourne Heart (soccer) and Melbourne Rebels (union).
"We’re in the middle of one of the greatest sporting precincts in the world," Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.
"But with a young group and a new coach, we saw an opportunity to expose them to different environment, spread the Tigers’ brand and spread the game."
Saturday’s game starts at 4.40pm at Cazalys Stadium.
Tickets are on sale from Cazalys Social Club, www.ticketdirect.com.au or by phoning 1300 798 550. For more information, visit cairns.aflq.com.au or call 4042 3000 during business hours.

Tigers give Suns five-goal start by playing home game at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns
by: Greg Davis
The Courier-Mail
July 14, 2012
GOLD Coast coach Guy McKenna says playing Richmond in Cairns - instead of the MCG - is worth five goals to the Suns tomorrow.
The twilight clash at Cazaly's Stadium is a Tigers home game with Richmond in the middle of a three-year deal to take one match a season to Far North Queensland.
The Suns' last premiership victory was in the corresponding fixture last year when they stormed home in the tropical heat - and the aid of a howling wind - to win by 15 points.
The Tigers also lost their "home'' match in Darwin last year to Port Adelaide land were widely criticised for shifting home games. Richmond has subsequently axed the trip to the Northern Territory.
McKenna said Gold Coast was delighted to be meeting the Tigers in Cairns again instead of the home of football in the middle of winter.
"It's in our own backyard so we are happy to come up here.
"We are happy to play Richmond up here because if we had a choice between Cairns and the MCG with the Richmond faithful, I know we are probably five goals better off up here,'' he said before the Suns trained in stifling heat and humidity today.
"It's a great initiative by Richmond. I know they get howled down about it but to bring AFL football to our country zone, it's fantastic for us.
"When their contract expires (at the end of 2013), depending on what we want to do, we'd certainly be keen to pick it up.''
McKenna said last year's result woudl mean little to the Suns once the ball is bounced tomorrow, but he does expect the Tigers to be keen on exacting revenge.
"We understand Richmond will be smarting after last year's effort. We just need to go out and compete and do that for four quarters,'' he said.
"We've just got to keep doing what we do and consistently get after the contested footy and own the football and use it really well and as Malcolm Blight (Suns coaching mentor ) says often,'Kick more goals than them'.''
Richmond assistant coach Justin Leppitsch didn't argue with McKenna's assessment.
"He's probably right,'' Leppitsch said. "The travel factor is always a couple of goals either way but we've got a job to do.''
Leppitsch said the Tigers would wait and see how defender Ben Griffiths pulled up from training today before deciding if he would play against the Suns. Griffiths was subbed off against Melbourne last week with a sore calf.
"We'll see how we go. We have to wait and see how he gets up,'' he said.
Griffiths did not complete the full session and spent most of his time talking to the coaches which would indicate he is in grave doubt for the game.
Leppitsch said the return of defender Kelvin Moore from a long-term hip injury was a boost for the Tigers. Moore did not play a single game in 2011 due to the hip injury.
"I didn't expect he'd play again to be perfectly honest. He had such a severe injury,'' he said.
"The way he has handled it has been so good and he's forced his way into the team.''
McKenna said young gun midfielder David Swallow would play a full game in his return from two months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Cant stand Mckenna he thinks his poo doesnt stick.Love to put him place cause it seems to me the Suns seem a bit to cocky for my likeing.
-
There are a number of ppl trying to make a big deal of the fact we lost last year.
Imo if it wasn't a sold home game, I don't think those ppl would have made a big deal of it.
I think when ppl may see us as a shaky team, or the comeback team- where the oppositon can springboard their season against.
That has to stop today, and every other day we play.
-
Grey, heavy overcast, humid, not quite drizzling in Cairns this morning. No breeze. It's. Been raining overnight. Not the day to go in with too many talks, I would have thought. Forecast is for showers.
-
Cheers to the loss then :cheers

I thought they would be at larger odds. $6 is quite short. The bookies may have sucked you in when usually they sit at about $10.
-
Just walked past a - sort of- team meeting the boys were having at the park on the Esplanade. Gus was there, but I didn't see the Mullet! Griff was there as well. Not sure that it means anything.
Dusty and Jacko running up and down the foreshore running track with a guy pacing them.

Newy and Nahas trained fully on Thursday. Neither looked to be doubtful.
The Mullet looked very stiff, had trouble raising a gallop.

Only Jack wore a glove at training WP.
-
In my little experience, WP, the humidy does not make the ball slippery. The slippery ball comes about on the mild nights.
We have had some unseasonal humidity up here this year and on those nights the ball does not get anywhere as near slippery as those when you can feel the chill in the air.

Two late changes for Tigers I. Maric & Griffiths out - replaced by Graham & Webberley
Suns no change
-
oh lawd.
-
O'Hanlon is the sub.
So Kel, Gus and Webberley will all start the game.
-
Glad I'm going out for dinner tonight. I has sads.
-
Gus and McGuane back in the same side. Back to the future. I thought the comedy festival had finished yonks ago :help.
I'll gladly take even a one point win today now. It's Coburg vs Gold Coast :P.
-
The bad thing is next week the lineup will be unsettled again as hopefully maric, griffiths, jacko, dusty all come back in. Wholesale changes always have big ripple effects. 👎
-
got no one to blame but ourselves if we lose.
Wholesale changes have been made but if they didnt persist with Jackson and Miller then other players wouldve got a taste of it by now.

Just started on Fox. What's with all the tennis nancies and those white wrist bands.
-
Lol they just brought up some of Moore's stats on an on-screen graphic. "At least 6 hip operations."
-
SEN replayed a clip from last year's loss with that idiot so-called supporter of ours who makes a fool of himself after every loss claiming to have microwaved his and his two sons' membership cards ::).
Newy won the toss. We're kicking with a 4 goal breeze according to Ox.

gus 1st ho and moore gets a touch woohoo

Can we actually find a target inside forward 50 or at least make a contest without giving away a free?! :scream.

Dear umps: the footy has to go 15 to be a mark. Swallow kicked that from where Brown kicked it. Lol
-
Love the commentator. Swallow has 8 goals straight from 8 shots. Haha. No poo idiot

Another free to them and the ump waited until everyone stopped before calling advantage ::). Gifted Matera a goal :banghead

We are wearing Y&B jumpers Richmond! ::)
Lucky there. Sun player ran too far. But Tucky from 50m kicks it OOTF :P.
-
All the Suns are doing is sitting back and then hitting us on the counter because we can't hit a target by foot. No run whatsoever.
McGuane can't even make the distance. Rushed for a point.

we're just taking it easy early so they will be stuffed in the second half :help

Quarter time
Richmond 2.2-14
Gold Coast 4.3-27
Goals: Riewoldt, Nahas
They are more desperate and running harder. Dimma will be doing his nut. No excuse for lack of effort no matter what your talent level is.
-
Webberley Graham Dea clearly not up to AFL standards
Ellis ????
-
1 effort players everywhere ATM. This could be Webberley's last game if he keeps this up.
-
They are getting heaps more players to the contest, 3-4 times that qtr there was 1 richmond player and 4 suns players. They are running a lot harder than us.
You can always tell how well a side is traveling by the way they cop goals, we have been coping goals far too easily for weeks now, now even GC are waltzing through the corridor with minimal pressure from us.
-
You are reminded today why we chased big Ivan hard. Gus you are a spud. As soon as he went into the ruck the Suns won most of the clearances.
-
any wind advantage? if so how much and who had it that 1/4?
-

whats wrong with Ellis? he got monstered by Brown. The problem is the coaching box and match committee.

This is the important point, and more often than not leads to the second point.
when you see such a discrepancy in numbers to the contest, the result is not too hard to predict.

On telly they reckon it's no big deal.

Agreed, hate feral supporters.
I think being behind is what we need to win tbh
-
All brought to us by B. Gales fundraising masterstroke ::)
-
Throw Gus into the goal square and X man into the ruck full time. Got to roll the dice

Might not be too bad to lose.
Might open the eyes of people in charge we cannot carry the like of mcgaune graham on the list.

We had it in the first :P

Even when we're dominating most facets of the game including contested possessions and clearances ala the crows game, we get sliced up way too easily, wasnt happening in the first 6-7 weeks, have really fallen off the wagon with our defensive structures, either that or the opposition have worked us out
-
Once again our forward line leaks like a sieve.
Lids crappy kick but it gets to Titch who snaps a point.

-
10 goal plus win for GC coming - end of season at hand! FU Gale!!!

Hopefully Rance has only copped a knock on the knee and not done a PCL or anything serious. Ablett and Tross' knees collided in the tackle.
Another free and another goal to them :scream.

Gus kicking it so high and slow had something to do with it ::).
-
Yep we've got outs, yep we have no depth but
1. If club wants me to pay FTF next year and we sell a home game to some brothel in Nth Australia then I'm not helping.
2. Martin and Jackson should be punished for the rest of the year for their indiscressions. The season is shot and these guys should be made accountable for their actions. Make them suffer.
3. If A Maric and Graham play again for the yellow and black we better only have 22 available players to pick from b/c even if some kid from Coburg 2nds is on our list and is available I don't care it will benefit us more than playing these female privates.
-
WTF is Chimp doing calling for it in the middle when he's got 2 blokes on his ass. Oh wait, grrr graham grr :banghead

Dont agree with that...
I dont think we can win, but to win we need to plonk a big body in the goal square to make their defenders poo themselves, apart from warnock they have nothing (even warnock is nothing tbh). Bomb it long to gus and let Jack run around free. Some senior players need to stand up, not going to name them, not hard to figure out who

-
The St Kilda game killed our season. I said it at the time, it was the first time this season where our average footballers believed they could play like Millionaires. Todays performance has been stuffing poo. A disgrace to the clubs history and to the supporters who pump in the money to pay for the crap that we saw in the first half. Houli has gone back to being the Essendon Houli and Grigg has gone back to being the Carlton Grigg. Dea is a battler and thats all. Then theres Graham and Derrickx - they should be capuanoed today. And thats just the start. What a stuffen disgrace.
-
It says Webberley was subbed on the HS website.
We can still scrape a win, but what would it prove?
Webs subbed? good, he was a witches hat, was sad to see his performance as it was his last chance
-
LOL Gus. Even a NRL player has more awareness and clue about the game than you :lol.
are you a richmond supporter?
Are you? Our jumper deserves better than having spuds like Gus embarrass it.

your a weak prick MT. hiding behind your computer snipping posts and then bagging whoever you like. Gus is poo player, we all know it. The bloke is at least out there and busted his ass for a game again. what have you done in football, dude? Played as many AFL games as some of our "spuds"
I doubt it. Pull your head in and support your club. It's not Graham's or McGs fault that we have poo depth.
LOL. I believe the bold is you bagging Gus eh! :wallywink
I've said it. I know his limitations as a player. I don't expect him to dominate therefor I dont go nuts when he isn't playing well. Obviously you're just a poor supporter that bags anyone that you dont rate. you had a go at McG for not making the distance from 60 out earlier. You sit on here every week during the game, bitching and moaning over the mistakes the boys make. Just sit back, STFU and give your thoughts at the end of the game.
Have a look at blokes like Newman. We know who our spuds are, it's the blokes that can play who let us down.
-
Conca falls over.nothing player.needs to step up but can't
Ellis likewise
19 & 18 years old ffs. >:(
So have Gold Coast you clown
Sure and a whole raft of them taken with higher draft picks than both of them.
Both have been good this year.
You want to target players look at the seniors.
-
Our President votes, along with other clubs, to let these sides in. Then he hands them a home game advantage. He also asks for a 'blockbuster' draw that makes it near-on impossible to make the finals.
This is what gives me the skata.
FTF 5.5 million yet we get 500K to lose 2 last year and one this year and develop a losing culture to GC17.
During the week I'll get an SMS come to our home game and be the 19th man. So when I yell in the members a Nought supporter who aint a member of his sorry club and has purchased a reserved seat for the day that has not been purchased by an RFC supporter can then SMS the antisocial behaviour line at the G and have RFC supporters removed b/c the free kick count at half time is 15-3 in Noughts favour.
Skata.
-
I look forward to my suspension for having a go at the mighty God himself ;D
-
The St Kilda game killed our season. I said it at the time, it was the first time this season where our average footballers believed they could play like Millionaires. .
I agree with this, everyone rated it as one of the games of the season, but that was the first game this season that we started allowing the opposition to go coast to coast with minimal pressure, have gotten prgressively worse since then

Todays performance has been stuffing poo. A disgrace to the clubs history and to the supporters who pump in the money to pay for the crap that we saw in the first half. Francis Jackson has lost my support, I dont believe in the recruiting team - Ellis cant run and Conca going around in circles. Sack the recruiting team if we lose today - thats what should happen. I'd rather Emma Quayle do our recruiting. Thats how bad its been. Houli has gone back to being the Essendon Houli and Grigg has gone back to being the Carlton Grigg. Dea is a battler and thats all. Then theres Graham and Derrickx - they should be capuanoed today. And thats just the start. What a stuffen disgrace.
yes you did say it and got blasted on here after the Stkilda game.
Dimma will soon realize what a job he has ahead of him and he will find he is jobless if we continue this in 12 months time.
Match committee selection and recruiting has been pathetic
-
Conca is a nothing footballer
Hasn't the ability to step up
And don't get me started on Matt Dea
The future of Punt Road
You would have to be joking
Dea i will give u, hes coming from so far back its sad.... but now we're having a crack at cnca? ffs...
Conca falls over.nothing player.needs to step up but can't
Ellis likewise
But but...he is better than Heppell ::)
he is mate, seen Heppell this season? I dont rate him much tbh
On reflection you are probably right. Anger is causing me to not think logically ATM. :scream
-
It says Webberley was subbed on the HS website.
We can still scrape a win, but what would it prove?
It would be 4 premiership points. More than what we have now.
I'd still take that. Wouldn't you, or if we don't win by 10 goals plus it's not worth the four points.
-
Webberley subbed out or Conca?
Happier with that scenario.

no worries bloke, far be it for me to have a crack at some emotion ;) i was losing my poo around here the past few weeks, I am now at peace with our shitness
-
losing will be more beneficial to our future today than winning by a goal or two. We have massive problems that need to be sorted. Dimma seems to have lost control of how the team is playing from the St Kilda game. He needs to get back to pre st kilda game style if there is to be any joy for us as supporters.
-
Sub off about 10 blokes, play with 12. Start with Newman. Still yet to lay a tackle FFS :banghead Teach them a lesson

No, Graham is tagging Ablett and doing a poo job of it. he's the reason we're losing
-
This is what happens when your depth can't even compete at VFL level. Coburg have been appalling this year. Appalling.
Our top 10-12 players this year have been superb, have received absolutely bugger all support from our bottom tier. Clean out the lot of them.
For eff sake.
Graham, McGuane, Derickx, A.Maric, J.Webberey can all stay in QLD go find the Theme Parks and play on the ferris wheel where they belong. Pathetic. Playing with 12 players today.
-
i was losing my poo around here the past few weeks, I am now at peace with our pooness

Yeah I'd take it but getting owned by GCS for a half shows that we are miles away, even if we win we will get belted against decent teams including by your beloved Kangas next week
-
Ellis trying to lift the boys...well done son.

Thanks for the mozz Ox. Jack kicks it OOTF from distance.

I'm Newy's biggest fan but age is starting to catch up him. He hasn't been as good this year as in previous years. McGuane was reasonable last week apart from one brainfade. Been terrible today. I didn't realise everyone at the club is beyond criticism :sleep.

LETS HOPE THEY STAY WINLESS!
-
The Suns players look stuffed
Let's hope they are. Ablett had slight cramp just before.
We need another quarter with that intensity. That's all it was. More effort getting numbers to the ball and running for each other. Finally hitting targets helps as well but that's because we were running hard creating space.
-
This is good, we have dragged ourselves back into the game after it looked a kick away from being over
Now its balls on the line, lets see how deep we can dig
-
HUGE last quarter coming up. Hell i'd be proud if we just manage to scrape past with the win, even though its GC
Me too Nick. With so many outs the margin doesn't matter. We just need to win.

if our players hadnt put been so bad in the first half this game would have been in the bag, suffice to say we have to battle it out and if we win the last quarter even if its by 1 point then we should be happy we got the 4 points after our first half effort or lack of in the first half.

Not good enough
Beaten by retards
-
Your loss Hardwick......what a Fwit Coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he cant be on the field for the players. if the players arent good enough then there not good enough.
-
Hate to blame one guy but Derickx lost us the game, without a doubt.
-
Well listen to you all now.........oh yeah, we have come a mile... :lol :lol :lol
:birthday :birthday :birthday
And now tell me we will beat North!!!!!!
-
This is devastating.
-
It took all my stuffing self control then not to stuffing trash the stuffing lounge room. stuffing TERRIBLE!!!
Like the Tigers of stuffing old. 1st gamer has a blinder of a first half. Campbell stuffing BROWN tears us apart. GRAHAM, MCGUANE back in the stuffing team!! stuff ME DEAD!!!
-
what a disgracefulful football club we are
from the coach to the players we are pathetic
-
Well listen to you all now.........oh yeah, we have come a mile... :lol :lol :lol
:birthday :birthday :birthday
And now tell me we will beat North!!!!!!
North by more than 10 goals next week unfortunately. Our players will drop their bundle.
-
:chuck
nothing else needs to be said.
-
Webberly graham amaric mcgaune
-
Hate to blame one guy but Derickx lost us the game, without a doubt.
nah not just his fault mate, if cotch and lids have 70+ possies between them and jack kicks 5 and we still lose to the winless GC something tells me we had a shitload of passingers today
-
If Cotchin had half a brain he would get out as soon as he can.
-
Can't believe that actually happened, an NRL player scoring for the winless bottom of the ladder club after the siren to beat us. Typical Tigers, can't hold an effing lead because we still have a LOSING MENTALITY :banghead
-
cotchin and deledio are dead set wasting their time having to play with these fools in the same team. i feel terribly sad for them.
-
Your loss Hardwick......what a Fwit Coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he cant be on the field for the players. if the players arent good enough then there not good enough.
Yep not the coach's fault if players can't execute a basic skill of the game. 10 pts up with 30 secs to go - Derickx marks and the game is iced.
-
Forget about the Conca Elllis and co
Season over
Not good enough
Beaten by fools
Not Conca's fault stop finding scapegoats like our 1st rounders since 2009.
Fact is we choked and as good sides should win from being 3 gaols up with 7 mins to go we didn't.
Conca was one of our best.
What you had Vickery now Conca.
Angus Graham should never wear a RFC jumper again not even as a Halloween costume.
-
Edwards went backwards today. When the pressure is on the soft get softer.
-
Was never gonna win with all the outs.
Newman was having an influence and then he got squashed.
Maric is missed.
-
Hate to blame one guy but Derickx lost us the game, without a doubt.
nah not just his fault mate, if cotch and lids have 70+ possies between them and jack kicks 5 and we still lose to the winless GC something tells me we had a pooload of passingers today
Thats besides the point though. If we are up by 10 points with 30 seconds to go and a single player drops a mark which turns it over and leads to an opposition goal, its the player the dropped the balls fault.
-

Its our playing culture, its ingrained, our players just poo themselves simple as that.
-
if hardwick is a serious coach he will sack a couple of players tonight to make an example of them. Graham and Derrickx should go tonight.
-
and yep- the coaches definitely stuffed up in the last

The way they structured up in that last 2 minutes was pathetic. They had 2 loose on the near side and we direct play there. It is his fault and the players as well.
-

You seriously think a serious coach would do that? lol

What about the next play, who was meant to be on Hunt? who leaves a player free 30 metres out? yes that incident was diabolically bad, but no worse than a dozen more that coast us goals tonight. Bottom line we didnt deserve to win, got a few lucky ones and they made a mess of things and we're poo
-

he should but he wont and thats the problem at Richmond. we accept players who arent good enough and then we send them to play against a group of teenagers and they get beat by a bunch of kids.
-
its our missed shots at goal,in this instance
-
Graham, Addam Maric, Derickx gone.
Although these guys were irrelevant to the side in a good way Jako and Martin should be hung drawn and quartered for events in the Adelaide game and the days after it.
These guys as punishment should come back via Coburg in Round 23.
Season is gone. Lose like that it kills you.
Expect a win against Brissy and the Dogs when there is no pressure and then when some on here start entertaining something in the top 8 if we win our last 3 go to Perth and lose to Freo easily.
Tiges I love you but you keep breaking my heart. Thanks.
Expecting an SMS from the club 19th man b/s during the week.
Sad we are playing Nort next week. Psychologically we will be shot and we will be appropriately smacked by the characterless nobodies.

We all know what momentum can do. Derickx didn't drop that mark, we would have held onto it and won
-
Can't believe it, sitting here in a hospital waiting room. Refreshing every stuffing post to see this poo, stuff you rfc. And as I saw the final score on my fone, I turned to my left in the waiting room and saw a prik with a nought melb cap, looking at his fone and laughing. He looked at me and could just tell who I followed.
Thanks for making this poo night even worse
-
My worst nightmare.
Horror show. Oh crap :banghead
-
they sacked conners for being late to training, they should sack another 2 or 3 tonight for pretending to be footballers.
-
So does MENTALLY WEAK....ring a bell now, does it, come on and you all had a shot at me and listen to the way you lot that had a go at me are carrying on....weak as the Tigers performance some of you!!!!

We were still playing with a 6 man fwd line of course GC were going to get a chance.
Should have stacked the backline and get the ball to the boundary line.
Of course we can't. However our existence is so miserly that we will take pride in denting Carlton's or Essendon's finals chances such is the patheticness we have b/c we can't create our own history we just rely on ruining others. That's what's killing us and even then we are skata at that.
Thank you Tigers for breaking my heart again.

we should never have been in that situation in the first place, If someone else had of kicked any of the numerous easy misses it wouldnt have mattered.... they are to blame just as much as Xman... its like when ppl blame an umpiring decision for the result, its rubbish
we got our right whack. There is no rock big enough for the club to hide under this week

Couldn't agree more Ramps.
Derickx ad Graham are genuinely genuinely useless.
Pay them out with the money we wasn't to ignt for playing this game up there.
Add Maric, McGuane, Webberely to that list.
stuffing useless idiots
-
Hate to blame one guy but Derickx lost us the game, without a doubt.
Derickx did not loose us the game, he made a mistake, yes. We should have beaten Gold Coast by 10 goals today. I'd say there was a little more wrong than dericks dropping a mark.
-
To have an ex-NRL player kick the winning goal was rubbing salt into an already festering wound. I'm guttered

Lack of depth was clearly on show today, quite frankly we lose a couple of regular 1st team players and we just dont have any other talent to replace them. Half todays team could be gone at years end, Coburg are abysmal and we had half their team. It was always going to be a danger game and with the humidity and injuries to boot we ended up with the result we did. Decision to play games in Cairns would have to go down as one of the worst decisions the current administration has made. We still have another game to play there so mark that down as another loss as Gold Coast seems to grow another leg when they play us. Just as likely they will be made to look second rate next week and we are gone for 2012, no coming back from this one.

Barracking for this club is not good for one's health.....and I have passed the curse on to my children. For many years we have had a tradition of buying memberships for each other as Xmas presents. We wont be doing that this year I promise and if we are not 8 wins from 10 at the start of next season I will tell everyone not to buy one at all.

mate its all over we are just a pretend footy team.
we never stand up when the heat is on, its a disgrace that GC can dig deeper than us, your previous hit the nail on the head, once we are out of contention and theres no expectation, we'll win some games unlooked for and then when we're back in with a chance we'll get our pants pulled down again and laughed at like the fat kid at his first party.

That incident in the last qt where he didn't chase 10 metres out when the ball went to ground next to him was diabolical.
All he does is get in the way. He is everywhere you don't want him to be and as the great Jack Dyer said other times he is "everywhere the ball aint"
He is a worse ruckman than Esler, Schaefer, Honybun and McKee put together.

Yes you can. Pay the useless oxygen thief out and play 1 short for 12 months. Would be better than playing him and gifting the opposition ruck dominance - may as well go in a man short just to even it up.

I don't care if Browne can't play. I'd play him before Graham from now on. At least he tries.
My skata have more courage than Graham. On a cold day you can see the steam rising off my skata. Graham is as hot as a box of paddle pops.
-
Browne should have played no doubt. Goodbye Graham...

Watched it online in Italy.. Bastards cost me 2 hours of my holiday ... Hardwick has a lot to blame too

For starters Id just like to be contenders more than once every 10-15 years :help

Coach"s fault!!!!! Goldcoast clearance to an open forward line. Don't blame the players. I believe the coach has no idea come game day!
-
Crap we beat Port in Adelaide this year.
We just lose our home games interstate. A 1.5 million gain and 3 losses by a combined total of 32 points.
If the club had any brains with the FTF and the money and membership revenue from this year they will not request to have a home game next year outside Victoria.
If they do I will buy my coterie membership and not contribute $1 to the FTF. I don't want to hear 19th man at the G and you are our blood and all this crap.
Enough RFC. This crap stops here. 52000 members are owed better than this.
3-0-75 is officially a pipedream.

Over this joke of a club !

No you idiot, did you even watch the game? As its been pointed out in 100 other posts the half a dozen Coburg fools let us down today. That was the difference.

yeah okay pointed out by who??? you.
from where i was watching I saw half a dozen GC second year players win the game for them too while 21 players stood there and did a sam stosur
we are mentally weak thats why we lost. Cotchin should leave the club now in search for success. I feel for that bloke

We still had a 6 man fwd line when the last centre bounce took place. :help

We made some costly errors in the last few minutes.Maric stuffed up when Cotch broke free and Graham is useless.
-
Why should we pay money to a Club that is never going to make it in a system that doesn't want it to. Gale made a terrible strategic decision to sell home games interstate. He also requested a horror fixture.....and the AFL has effectively barred us from the draft for over two seasons and free agency is designed so that established clubs get raided. I have taken the time to email the club to give them my opinion and requested that they not ring me or my family or send any further correspondence. As I stated earlier, we will only buy memberships in future if/when we are entrenched in the eight....sadly that will never happen in my lifetime.

No Ivan Maric, Martin, Jackson, Griffiths, Foley, Grimes,Jake King,Vickery,Matt White to choose from.
When our depth with guys like Graham, Addam Maric, Derickx, Webberley, and add lokes who didn't play tonight like Miller, then of course you are going to struggle.
Whilst there are issues with the list and the loss not only hurts but kills and the wounds from tonight will render fatal our season 2012 this just shows that we need to get depth players to the club and that we cannot any longer rely on these Graham, Webberley's, A Maric calibre of blokes to come in and do a job because time and time again they have failed.
Whilst it is also a psychological thing where we play better against better sides we need to find a formula to play well in all games regardless of the opposition and possibly the drafting of more consistent tier players may be that missing link that has been exposed so horribly in the last month.
Unfortunantely the Walla$$ era decimated our list so much that 3 years later the journey we are on is still so far away. Whilst the 8 with alot of things going right in a season is achievable all it does is cover the cracks. We still need one possibly two clean outs to get rid of or upgrade 10-15 players and then hope that at least half of those 15 drafted or recruited make it or impact the club in lets say an Ivan Maric type of way to say that we not only are making the 8 but we are impacting into the top 4.

lol at all the angst. what did people expect.
just goes to show the lack of depth quality and experience. club should have been in full on development mode just like last yr maybe that would have meant we lost by more today.
have to say though this loss is disappointing in the extreme. not because of who it was but because it will have a lot of people questioning over all improvement. we have improved when fit and healthy.
it also goes without saying the list is not good enough injuries/suspensions or not to lose this game.
the game itself well i wont go there because i might get myself banned.
in saying all that we have improved but critical areas of age experience quality and the biggie depth have finally bitten us on the arse.
this yr was always the case of still having a long way to go and we are very much in early development.
in fairness to them in charge sometimes it is a fine line between development and competitiveness that is the only reason why some players get games.
if people understand where the list is at and the kpis that dictate where you are at then yes people will be disappointed with todays loss given the circumstances but in reality its no reason to slash your wrists todays loss was always on the cards when you look at the kpis.
heres an idea
moloney who wants out of melbourne, chaplin who we are after would add critical depth in two key areas. moloney we could get cheap psd, chaplin free agency.
use our first 4 picks on kids chase two or three of the best performed state league players. plus a mix of rookies.

So does MENTALLY WEAK....ring a bell now, does it, come on and you all had a shot at me and listen to the way you lot that had a go at me are carrying on....weak as the Tigers performance some of you!!!!
No you idiot, did you even watch the game? As its been pointed out in 100 other posts the half a dozen Coburg fools let us down today. That was the difference.

Guys we have no exuses for the loss and I'm not buying in to this crap we had so many players out and lack depth. The fact is suns loss everygame this year and even dees and gws even had a win on them.Mentality weaje as pee fullstop.
-
Why should we pay money to a Club that is never going to make it in a system that doesn't want it to.
Im sure youve been filed amongst the losers we can do without, weak as pee, .good riddance :lol

THE Bloke is sick of losing as for losers I dont think our footy club should be pointing the figures at anybody.

We desereved this we wont make it as a club in my eyes till we go up there and smash these idiots as usual we are on the backfoot as far as rivals are concerned the club is new and has a 2-0 record absolute disgrace
-
Coach"s fault!!!!! Goldcoast clearance to an open forward line. Don't blame the players. I believe the coach has no idea come game day!
Totally agree with this our box got it wrong 3 minutes to go lock the game up.
Firstly coach was on the boundary and was screaming instructions but our dumb players failed to do what they were being told.
Can't blame the coach for Tuckys kick to Gus resulted in Gus dropping a sitter.
Not the coach's fault that Tuck actually went to Gus when both Moore & Rance were wide with no opponents because the Suns had flooded forward. Tucky should have switched to moore who then would have gone to Rance.
That's not the fault of the coach that's just poor decision making
-
With Brisbane possibly beating Saints and Carlton also losing.. Shows how pathetic this loss was.
If we won tonight we could have had a games gap on both Saints and Blues with a massive game next week against North with Petrie and Adams likely to miss with injury and Zieball with suspension and Martin, Maric and Jackson coming back in.
FFS.

:thumbsup
The sky is falling!!
Ohh it fell alright, if mongo ever plays for this club again I will personally ram my platinum membership up someone's rs hole!
However you like to look at it this is Gunna cost the club bigtime, this years membership will be a record that will never be broken! Benny may as well forget his 75 3 whatever we are a pathetic joke and they better spend some of this FTF money us diehards have put in real quick in pluging these holes, seriously we have some utter useless whatever you call them masquerading as footballers and if it doesn't change this club is (why can't I swear?) F.....n doomed, say what you will forum Heros I have followed this club going just about every week for 30 years and I'm jack of it!!!!!!!

Thought Ellis ended up being one of our best.
-
good to see the usual suspects
claiming the end of the world
is nigh.
6 players out due to injuries
and suspensions and some
have just woken up to the fact
that our depth is lacking as it was
always at the start of the year..
now its get the MM campaign AGAIN.
some just try to latch
onto anything to justify their inability
to realise we arent QUITE there yet.
they are the same ones that get ahead of
themselves, but when we crash they go off
their tree at anything to do with the club.
obviously we LOST had a feeling we might
have, next week theres gonna be a ROO
culling at the G..
thats the spirit boys :thumbsup

DimSim should move to Darwin he's got no idea the miserable dog
Time to get mick Malthouse
We are being let down by this coaching staff due to its lack of professionalism
Enough propaganda rfc
-
They can't move on Dimma
Some bright spark signed him up for another 2 years at the start of this year
That's right Dimma was in demand from other clubs.lol
Seriously RFC should have a long hard look at themselves
Should of kept Connors on till end of year and swept the rubbish under the table
It's flow on effect hasnt been good

Which is a FAILURE.

RFC should have there own TV show called RFC360 as we are just going around in circles.year after year after year
Tell you who I really feel sorry for is Trent Cotchin
If it wasn't for him.we get beaten by 5 goals
Carries the team every week

Funny thing is Tucker Jackstar himself is must be hiding under the carpet when we are winning because he has SFA to say then, as soon as there is a carcus to pick over the rat comes out :lol what is even funnier is he never wants to take any blame himself, considering he was part of our recruiting team through probably our worst drafting period ever I think he has allot to answer for.

The solution is patients :wallywink we are one game out of the 8. We have improved every year since Wallace was assed. Considering how far the list had to be stripped back what did you expect? I will say it again, if you had of got it right in the 05 and 06 drafts we wouldn't be having this issue! Harden the stuff up and take some of the blame yourself :wallywink

You were spruiking from 07 about Walla$$. History proved you were right.
To blame Dimma on the massive rebuild he had to undertake from the Walla$$ mess is deplorable.
Considering where we were to where we are I think he has done okay.
You can't get rid of all players in one hit and with the turnover of 30 odd players since Dimma came into the job, outside our guns there were always going to be issues in the gaps of the talent of our list. Given our outs with injury we know how poor some of our depth players are and where we need to strengthen the list.
To go from blaming the coach to blaming a kid who has played 15 or so games to blaming a kid in his 2nd season is deplorable also and shows poor form Jack.
If anything the depth and those who have been on our list for 6 years or have played on an AFL list for the same amount of time and have done little ie Graham, Addam Maric, McGuane, Webberley.
I'm sure Martin is hurting tonight too. Was going out with Connors worth it?
Am I angry we lost? Yep
Am I angry we lost to the bottom side? You bet
What good has come out of this? The need to draw into the draft again and trade shrewdly as we have done in the last few years and ensure we establish more depth players in the same way that Edwards Grigg Rance Grimes Griffiths Morris have added something to the side this year.
Can't blame kids like Conca and Dea nor Dimma when some of the cattle aren't worth milking and aren't worth slaughtering for their meat either.
I lay the blame on the stale piece of KFC that coached us before and left our list in such a state of disrepair that it has been a minor miracle in itself that its round 16 and we still have a chance to make finals if we can get a few keys back in Ivan, Martin, Griffiths, Grimes back in time and if we can keep scrounging the wins.
It is an indictment on any RFC fan to think that today or any other loss under Dimma's tenure to this stage has not had a taste of Walla$$ about it. Until we make finals I will not judge Dimma on his coaching b/c until then he has had to forgo any coaching ability whatsoever in order to rebuild a list that was so tattered and torn there was no space left to put any more patches to hide the holes.
I would suggest that some perspective be seen.
I'm gutted with the loss but blaming Dimma or the kids is hardly the way to go.
Too many boys who cried wolf on here.
Patience dear children.

Pay dimma out and move on Coburg was pathetic today

What a pathetic excuse for his poor selections
Ahole Maric

Jeremy Webberley
Etc etc
And poor tactics at the end not flooding the back line

I'll start off by saying I'm absolutely gutted by this result..However i sort of expected it with our B side in today. However there is no excuse for the lame way we handed them the game in the end.The last 5 minutes was like watching an episode of the Keystone cops.
i have reached some conclusions on players as a result of today.Cotch ..if he continues playing like this will achieve legendary status sooner rather than later.he is the best thing to arrive at Punt road since KB.
jack was and is brilliant .can conjure a goal out of nothing.Nahas is an excellent half forward and is getting better.
Now i never want to see graham ,webberly, and derrycks even wear a Richmond jumper again.
i have a big question mark on Houli.yes he can run and distribute, but as i have previously stated he seems to lack a ticker on the field, can only kick one side, and isnt close tagging at times.
i still think reece makes poor decisions on the field,as does Dea......

one last defense of goose. was that not derrickx who dropped sitter? late in game? definitely dont remember graham dropping one late

reckon you are right coach i think it was derricks too

Play the kids. Claw was right all along. Our depth is horrible.
On the upside how good are Ellis and O'Hanlon?
-
GUTTED, just simply GUTTED
-
How good was elton?
Oh wait he wasnt selected
-
Look at the last 2 minutes on the AFL website. No hard tag on Ablett at last centre bounce. No Cotchin?????? Grigg panic kicks and is smothered. Deledio 'worried' off the ball. Great effort by Rance. Houli guarding space (not his man) and allows Karmichael Hunt to be free. To me it showed up the glaring weaknesses in Grigg, Lids and Houli's game to a tee. It also showed deplorable coaching at that crucial time. BTW Gus did well at that bounce, directing the ball straight to Grigg. Did I mentioned that Conca 'sifted-off' instead of possibly laying a shepherd :o

It's over. Lets move on.
-
It's over. Lets move on.
Last post I promise Mrakov ;) We once again won virtually every stat category against a side that has defeated us bar 2: Rebounds from our forward 50 and Marks inside our forward 50. The forward-line has been our Achilles heel all year.
-
What people don't realize that we have probably 5 excellent players who continually.carry the remaining ordinary players each week
To get beaten by Gold Coast shows that most of the ordinary players need to be moved on of they cannot step up there performance
Take an example of Collingwood
They have unknown players come in and step up and perform straight away first gamers etc
We don't have any players outside out top 5 when given the opportunity can't give you a BOG performance .think about it
It's the same players in our best 5 each week
The same players who we rely on to kick goals
-
said it before & will say it again
STATS MEAN NOTHING.
-
Why was Webberly subbed off? Was he injured?
Why is Derickx started forward and then moved back?
Can anyone take a mark on the lead on our forward line?
Can anyone kick the ball accurately into the fwd 50?
-
one last defense of goose. was that not derrickx who dropped sitter? late in game? definitely dont remember graham dropping one late
Haven't seen the replay Coach and it was on the opposite of the ground to me happy to stand corrected on who dropped the sitter
Still doesn't excuse the poor decision by Tuvk
-
yeah was Xman who dropped it
positives:
-Cotch and Lids, these blokes have grown as onfield leaders this season
-Jack and Nahas they did their job and did it well. Jack looks sooo much better when hes on the lead, stop this body on body crap. Nahas continually cops crap from supporters that hes not good enough, not sure why, he does his job more often than not in a position which is really hard to be consistent.
-O'Hanlon can play a bit! thought it was his best game so far last night, took some steps fwd last week and went on with it this week. If this guy can stand up as a 3rd mobile tall we'll be so much better off, 3 big talls dont work, 3rd tall needs to be a darling/hammill type.
-Ellis was one of our best, best game for the club, loved the bump he put on ablett too. Looks like hes settled in and now is starting to show his ability. If he doesnt get a rising star nom for that 3rd qtr alone...
-Rance, first game in 4-5 weeks he kept his feet and looked composed, played a really solid game and laid some huge tackles on Ablett.
Negatives:
Too many to list, but the fact we lost with the above positives is pee poor. Lids, Cotch, Jack and Nahas couldnt have done anymore, they were at maximum capacity and we still lost to a winless side.
-
I had a bad feeling about this game as soon as I heard big Ivan wasn't playing :(
-
Worst part is we lost to a team of blokes cacking themselfs.
Liam patrick. Prestia. Dixon. And other assorted squibs.
-
Houli at times plays to loose. He was no were near Hunt.Dont understand how that matchup was on anyhow.
-
Why was Webberly subbed off? Was he injured?
No good.

Question still has not been answered by Hardwick in regards to the use of the sub so early - was Webberly injured? Why would you take off a running midfielder when the team ran out of legs?

As I posted in another thread:
"He was disgraceful, pathetic and played like he didn't give a poo, which makes it worse seeing he was playing for his career.
After Saturday night it makes you wonder how he got a contract over a few others who got the chop at the end of 2011"
Would you like me to go on?
I haven't watched the replay will do that today
But sitting up there in the humidity and having had the "pleasure" of watching his efforts first hand I will give you a few examples
* Wouldn't chase, hardly got out of a canter nah make that jog :banghead
* Wouldn't attempt to tackle just the odd "corale" on an opponent :banghead
* stood back off contest while poor Cotch was getting pummelled :banghead
* out simply he was giving the team NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH = he was a liability
TBBH - to be subbed out at the 20 minute mark of the 2nd qtr when you are clearly not injured is an indictment on Webberely, his attitude and his efforts (lack of).
And BTW after I watch the replay if my memory is triggered with more examples I will post them ;D
-
Dimma's mistake was selecting him at all.

Don't think we had anyone else
Arnot was the logical choice but injured
Who else was there outside another rookie elevation?

Dimma's mistake was selecting him at all.
Im all for giving players one last chance(especially in the predicament we were in) he didnt grasp it, stamp his papers and move on.
-
Robbo right now on SEN blamed our lack of depth [understatement] and questioned the onfield leadership or rather lack of it and shouldn't the correct set-ups been automatic as most clubs practise various scenarios like the last centre bounce at training? Have we practised such a scenario?
Harford said blaming the selling of a home game is a soft target. Blame being down by 36 pts at one stage as well as losing from being 18 pts up with minutes to go. Should never have lost that game.
-
The loss comes down to Ivan Maric not playing. This guy needs to play if we are to have a decent chance of winning any game. Seeing Graham back in the side just reminds me of a dark dark place I never want to return to. We need to poach another ruck to partner Maric, a Bellchambers / Goldstein / Clarke type, just to ease his load and in case he goes down.
If Maric doesn't play, I would say our team goes from 'thinking they can win' to 'wondering if we can compete' . . . :banghead

DimSims laptop broke down again on Saturday night
He is lost without it

15 basic errors
By Ben Guthrie
3:14 PM Mon 16 Jul, 2012
RICHMOND made "15 basic mistakes" in the final two minutes of their shock loss to Gold Coast at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns on Saturday.
AFL.com.au's Luke Darcy and Damian Barrett have run through the last two minutes of the game and broken down the different skill errors and basic structural mistakes.
With Richmond leading by 10 points with just 40 seconds remaining, the Tigers make a number of alarming passages of play.
"They just messed up opportunities themselves, got too far behind and really, really stuffed up the last two minutes in the way not many good football clubs have ever done," Barrett said.
Those mistakes included crucial fumbles at critical times, missing easy tackles, not having a ruckman at a boundary throw-in, loose checking of opponents and a lack of composure under pressure.
According to Darcy, that sort of performance rules the Tigers out of finals contention.
"They will be absolutely ropeable. To be a really good side, you can't make basic errors."
"They get two of them right, they probably win the game."

I'd rather urinate razor blades than sit through that again.
-
Webberley's first few opportunities were quite difficult and under severe pressure, overheard marking is not his forte that's for sure. He tried to work his way into the game but kept finding himself in halfwayland, halfway between where the ball is, and where it is going. His positioning was bad. This can happen if you haven't played at the level for quite some time. You can actually fix this during a game. Perhaps he wasn't doing something he was told to do, but I thought he deserved a chance to run himself into the game and get some pill. And once again I am not convinced with this coaching decision, subbing in the first half should be for emergencies only. Matt Dea has played worse halves than that and we didn't hit the panic button.
Some of the comments towards JW are a bit over the top, he is clearly a goner now, but is the vicious send off really necessary?

Your comparison with Dea is an interesting one and probably a valid one. there is one big difference however and that is it appears that Dea is favoured player and that explains to me at least while he gets more opportunities than others, it's a bit like the Dan Jackson situation as well.
As I posted originally I don't like whacking blokes for the sake of it but what I saw on Saturday with a couple of things that were for me "red rag to a bull" type stuff. There was one time in the 1st off the ball he needed to sprint in and help out in a contest because his direct opponent ran to the same contest, he didn't he just jogged along and didn't come anywhere near it (watched the replay doens't show on it sadly) and that resulted in the Suns easily mving the ball forward and scoring.... not a great look no matter who you are
And if it comes out he was injured and that's why he was subbed then I will be the first person to say I was wrong but right at the moment there is nothing saying or suggesting he was injured
-
Dea is nothing like jackson. Tripe.
-
Dea is nothing like jackson. Tripe.
Tripe? Er No
Suggest you re-read my post Bents
Not talking about Dea as a player
I am talking about Dea being a coaches favourite like Jackson.
Everyone man and his dog knows Jacko is a favourite, hence why he keeps getting games despite is unique ability to butcher the ball and poor decision making.
It is pretty clear to me that Dea is a favourite of the coaches as well

Coaches votes (Hardwick & McKenna)
Richmond v Gold Coast
9 Trent Cotchin (Rich)
7 Trent McKenzie (GC)
6 Gary Ablett (GC)
6 Brett Deledio (Rich)
1 Harley Bennell (GC)
1 Brandon Matera (GC)

Cotchin was outstanding. We are extraordinarily lucky to have him in our team. Lids tried his hardest. Thought Nahas was okay and Jack was okay. Newman did a fantastic spoil. Never ever want to see that game again.
-
Was listening to robert shaw and viny on sunday morning on SEN,and robert shaw was giving it to jackson and white for not being team oriented by getting themseleves suspended.Viny defended jacko somewhat by making an interesting comment, that being, that he has spoken to jacko and that jacko is very aware where he stands.I took that to mean that jacko knows he has limited ability and that maybe his days wearing the black and yellow will not be long ......................anyone else catch this ?

disagree nahas was abysmal for 3 quarters and spent significant time on ball. he was lucky to not be subbed out at half time. if not for his purple patch in the third his day would have been a total right of. where was he in the last when we needed experienced players to lead from the front.
its this dramatic swing in form not only week to week but quarter to quarter that has so many of the older players in the gun. they are either poo house or they are okay there is no inbetween with them.

and Nahas they did their job and did it well. Jack looks sooo much better when hes on the lead, stop this body on body crap. Nahas continually cops crap from supporters that hes not good enough, not sure why, he does his job more often than not in a position which is really hard to be consistent.
disagree nahas was abysmal for 3 quarters and spent significant time on ball. he was lucky to not be subbed out at half time. if not for his purple patch in the third his day would have been a total right of. where was he in the last when we needed experienced players to lead from the front.
its this dramatic swing in form not only week to week but quarter to quarter that has so many of the older players in the gun. they are either poo house or they are okay there is no inbetween with them.
Like i mentioned in my previous post, the nature of the position he plays means he will perform inconsistently. Bottom line is he more than did his job kicking 4 goals and has 22 for the year. Unless a cyril rioli classy goal sneak type comes along he'll be around for a few more yet and deserves his spot too. Look at betts and Garlett, 10 weeks ago they were the deadliest small fwd combo in the league, even rioli has 1 bliner on average every 4-6 weeks and thats in a top side. Small fwds are marked way too harshly by those in the media and supporters.

correct has his faults like others on our list do but gee he doesnt kick 4 goals and we wouldve lost by a lot more
Does his job kicks goals, enough said

Claw, you have clearly drawn a line through Nahas' name already and you judge his performances accordingly. He is actually a handy small forward, and has had a good year. One of the few players in our forward line who actually looks dangerous around the ball.
The kick-stand is very harshly judged. He is the least of our concerns.
-
Agree Willy :thumbsup it's more of a concern that we have to run him through the midfield! Both Nahas and Edwards are better players when they stick around the goals.

We all knew we had no depth, right? So how come now that we have been but-plugged by injuries and we have a bad loss (the first really bad loss for the season) the sky is falling in?
A few weeks ago North were getting molested and we were smacking the poo out of the dawks. Now all of a sudden North's membership base has sky-rocketed to 39. Even crusty ol WAT has one!
We can still make finals, just need to beat the Dons or blues. Things can turn around pretty quick. Dimma has us on the right path. There were always going to be hick-ups along the way. Dont blame Dimma for the monumental stuff-ups of the past. He has done far more good than bad. Same goes for Benny G. Just have a cup of cement and enjoy the ride.
Oh yeah, could someone please tell Jackstar for me that he is a stuffing idiot and has NFI about what is good for the club. He is ignoring me. K. thanks.
:cheers

i agree beat Nought and Blues and Saturday will be forgotten
Its not the fact we lost its the way we lost, Cotch on the bench, Webberley, Dropped marks, 4 vrs 6 etc etc and to whom we lost to.
Regardless beat Blues and Bombers and not all is lost

Ill only buy this if we agree houli is equal teachers pet.

Allowing a few days for the disbelief and :banghead to subside, it's actually not a great surprise that at some point this year we produced a monumental cock-up like Saturday. Young sides are notorious for having days out like we did against Hawthorn and Sydney and then just when you think they've past the developing stage and are on their way to greater things, they can't sustain it and degenerate back to producing garbage that we've seen over the past month with the loss to the Suns topping it right off :P. I think a few of us said at the start of the year that 2012 would likely be very frustrating even if we show improvement. It's the nature of where our list is at. We needed everything to go right to have any chance of making the top 8 and for the first half of the season it did with hardly any injuries and us being able to play our best 22 or close enough each week. The problem is the AFL season is a marathon 22 weeks and injuries creep up as you go along and once we lost a few key players and had to rely again on the spuds we had pushed down to Coburg we were always going to crash back to being a bottom 8 side.
Actually looking on paper the Suns actually had their best side for the year in with all their senior players back (Harbrow, Brown, Swallow, Rischitelli, etc) whereas we had half our best 22 out and as I said all our duds who are barely VFL standard in. The game had loss written all over it. The worst thing the club did was in the week leading up to Saturday we dismissed last year's loss and made up a whole lot of weak excuses for it (ie. lack of preparation, the strong breeze) when the conditions were the same for Gold Coast. It was as if we were in denial over what happened last year. You don't dismiss and disrespect your opposition who were better on the day last time and they proved it again on Saturday. There's a lot of focus on the last 5 minutes; we should not ignore either the fact we were 6 goals down and were being given a bath in the first half. We didn't deserve to win due to our attitude towards the game and how poorly we played during it. A lesson for the whole club next year.

Having miller or graham in the senior side this was always going to happen.
If there is not a drastic change in list and team selection it wont change.

Unfortunately nothing can be done about it until the end of the season when we'll have one more big cleanout of the bottom end of our list.

AFL seeks new Cairns partner
JON PIERIK
The Age
18 Jul, 2012
THE AFL wants Cairns to remain an AFL venue and will seek a replacement club for Richmond when the Tigers' northern deal expires next year.
Richmond president Gary March has said the Tigers would not renew their three-year contract, which has been worth $1.5 million but has come at a cost - two unexpected ''home'' losses to Gold Coast.
Almost 11,000 supporters ventured to Cazaly's Stadium on Saturday, and the AFL wants to continue to harness the local area after the Tigers play their final game up north next season.
"The AFL is keen to see an annual match played in Cairns beyond the Richmond Football Club agreement and we will be actively exploring our options to make this happen,'' AFL spokesman James Tonkin said yesterday.
The Suns could be a possible replacement but one club not interested is the Western Bulldogs.

Agree with MT. Another cleanout is certainly required

Just watched the last quarter again dispassionately. The two blokes who dropped marks, actually had a good game (Derickx and Maric). I think that given their experience in 'clutch' situations I can forgive them. But there is an experienced so-called 'Star' player who under pressure failed to commit his body when 'called' to do so. It was Deledio. @ the 4 min mark he pulled out of a contest with Day, who hand-balled to Caddy and - Goal. Then at the last centre bounce he was 'worried' out of it when he could have taken possession of the ball. Edwards also was pathetic in that last quarter, trying party-tricks instead of taking possession (and risking a hit). Jack also kicked off the ground on two occasions. When it matters we are just not hard enough. That coupled with the Coaching failure caused our demise on the night. I mean, FFS Mcguane rucking and Cotchin resting at a crucial stage WTF!

with all due respect Ruanaidh..what impressed you about derickx game?...I read somewhere and please correct me if i am wrong ,but it was stated that he had 2 kicks...For a sport thats called football thats quite damning

That's ok Gigantor. I just dissected the last quarter when the pressure was on and he made several good spoils and pressure acts. Apart from the dropped mark he looked solid.

Was actually going to ask the same question
Derickx dropped a few marks during the game outside that shocker in the final qtr, also for a big strong bodied bloke his tackling is very poor

:lol....just checked to see how many Tom's man (Day) kicked for the night....wait for it = 0. BTW I like Matty White too :cheers

]You went didn't you WP. If so you probably had a better perspective than on the telly.
Yep I did still trying to work out why LOL
Have watched the replay too
I agree with you regarding Mini Maric, thought it was his best game for us. Also think he should bin the little kicks and concentrate on long kicks because he is IMV a very good long kick and he's a player that really needs to play to his strengths
-
Agreed it was mini marics best game....but the gigantor tribunal is still out on him

I don't want to labour the point but I'd give Tom another game and really stretch North's defence up forward. He has played what...2 games. I see something in him that we need to nurture until the end of the season. Then again in 30 years I have had my share of wrong predictions :-[ :lol
-
Ah Ruanaidh now the truth comes out..you were also a big fan of Anthony banik and john ironmonger werent you?...and here i was going to lump jack with the blame of getting those 2 down to the club also
-
With McG up forward Norths defense will allready be stretched ;)
-
Phew lucky you used a little "c" in between the M and G...you had me scratching my hand for a brief nano second..lol
