Welcome to Richmond’s ‘Finals Hub’, where you’ll find all information about the 2013 AFL Finals Series.
http://www.richmondfc.com.au/season/finals-hub/
Tickets to Week 1 of the AFL finals will go on-sale on Monday, September 2, 2013. Richmond members will be able to purchase tickets from 9:00am, and the general public can purchase tickets from 2:00pm.
All tickets will be sold through ticketing agencies – either Ticketek, or Ticketmaster (depending on the venue). The Richmond Football Club cannot sell any tickets to members or supporters to any AFL finals game.
If you wish to purchase tickets to AFL finals games, make sure you understand the ticketing process, so that when tickets go on sale, you’re ready to purchase them.

Finals FAQ
FINALS TICKETS WEEKS 1-3 FAQS – RICHMOND MEMBERS
I’m a Richmond member. Do I still need to purchase a ticket for the finals?
Yes, you will need to purchase tickets through the nominated ticketing agency (Ticketek or Ticketmaster) should you wish to attend.
As a member of a Club participating in the finals you will receive the following benefits for games in which Richmond competes:
* Priority access to an exclusive Members pre-sale giving you the opportunity to purchase tickets to the game prior to the general public.
* Access to purchase additional tickets for friends who wish to attend the game with you. Please note the quantity of additional tickets is subject to the teams and venues. As members, you will receive additional information about teams and venues closer to ticket on-sale dates.
Tickets will go on sale to competing Club members on Monday prior to the game from 9am – 1pm (local time). At this time you may also have access to purchase additional tickets for friends who wish to attend the game with you*. Please ensure you have your 2013 membership card, as the 12 digit barcode will be required at the time of purchase.
Competing Club Members who purchased a ticket to see their team play in Week 1 of the Finals Series will receive a 20% discount to purchase a ticket in Week 2 if their Club is competing. To have access to the 20% discount to the Week 2 Final, each member must supply their 12 digit membership barcode number at the time of the Week 1 ticket purchase, only applicable within the members pre-sale time Monday 9am-1pm*.
Members who purchased their membership after Tuesday, August 27, 2013 do not have access to purchase finals tickets via their Club membership. These members will not be able to purchase tickets until they are made available to the general public.
How many tickets can I purchase?
Members may have access to purchase additional tickets during the first three weeks of the finals for friends who wish to attend the game with you. The quantity of additional tickets is subject to the teams and venues. Please refer to your member emails or check afl.com.au for updates prior to tickets going on sale.
A maximum of eight (8 ) tickets per transaction applies when purchasing tickets. All members’ tickets purchased can only be done so by presenting or quoting the 2013 membership barcode number.
*Please note additional tickets will not be available to any match played at Patersons Stadium. For all other matches the quantity of tickets will be subject to the teams and venues.
Can I sit with a member of the other competing Club?
Yes, you can.
In 2013 competing Club members will have the choice of which team allocation they would like to sit in. All membership barcodes will be required when purchasing tickets.
If purchasing at an outlet or via phone, you will be asked which team allocation you would like to sit in.
If you purchase via the internet, you will need to select a team area before moving on to select your seat preference.
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets for AFL Finals games are only available to purchase through the nominated ticketing agency.

Richmond members will be allocated in blocks to sit with other Richmond members.
How are tickets sold?
Tickets will be sold on a first in, next best available basis and will be subject to availability.
Members are able to select their preferred price category for the first three (3) weeks of finals (Category 1 – 7 at the MCG, or Category 1 – 4 at all other finals venues), however due to the demand for tickets all ticket agents are advised to sell ‘next best available’ to make the allocation process fast and convenient for members.
Please note that payment for all finals tickets is strictly cash or credit card.
When purchasing at an outlet, you must present up to eight valid membership cards or the 12-digit barcode numbers from those membership cards. You will be required to quote all valid membership barcode numbers when purchasing online or via telephone.
During the members only pre-sale Club members are required to purchase a finals ticket that is equivalent to the type of membership they hold (ie an Adult member can only purchase an Adult finals ticket).
I am an AFL Member with a Richmond support package. Can I purchase tickets from the Richmond allocation for Weeks 1, 2 & 3?
AFL Full and Silver Members (excluding absentee members) whose Club of Support is one of the competing Clubs may access the competing Club members’ ticket allocation in the public section of the ground in Weeks 1-3.
AFL members who choose to purchase tickets from the competing Club member allocation, will pay the full public ticket price.

I've just given the ladder predictor a crack with most results going as expected, If the Hawks beat the Swans in the Qualifying and We beat Port in the Elimination, we could be playing our Semi Final at ANZ against the Swans!!! I know most of you would be pretty peeved at this result, but for me living in Sydney, it would be frikkin Awesome!!! :gotigers

I had us finishing 4th (mathematically possible) beating Hawthorn and going straight into the Prelim.
Us playing and beating Freo in the Prelim and then playing either the Cats or the Pies in the Grand Final.

Richmond fans race for finals tickets
Elissa Doherty
From: Herald Sun
September 02, 2013
THE roar is about to become deafening.
Long-suffering Tigers fans will lead the fevered rush for the first finals seats in what will be a blockbuster start to the 2013 series.
But thousands of supporters could miss out on tickets due to overwhelming demand as five of Victoria's most popular clubs vie for supremacy this weekend.
On Saturday, Geelong hosts Fremantle at Simonds Stadium, which can hold just 33,000 fans.
Supporters have been sleeping rough at ticket outlets since Saturday to secure a seat.
Ticket sales have been brought forward a day this year and will be available from 9am on Monday for club members and 2pm for the general public.
The selling window has been narrowed by eight hours for members, finishing at 1pm on Mondays during the finals season.
The AFL predicts Sunday's Richmond v Carlton game would sell out and Tigers cheer squad president Gerard Egan said fans were scrambling to get tickets.
Thousands of supporters will be left to watch at home, with the Blues and Tigers having more than 110,000 members combined.
"They will be lining up at outlets and getting online this morning, but there will be some people who will be absolutely shattered that they can't get a ticket," he said.
The MCG can hold 100,000 finals fans but many seats are set aside for corporates and MCC members.
While Carlton, Richmond, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Geelong fans salivated at the prospect of premiership glory, Essendon players were drinking beer at Port Melbourne yesterday, watching their VFL team play Werribee after they were sensationally kicked out of the finals last week.
The Bombers were found to have brought the game into disrepute over their 2012 supplements program and were relegated from seventh to ninth.
Richmond diehards were excitedly working on their first finals banner since captain Trent Cotchin was 11.
The banner will take 15-16 hours to complete, with the Herald Sun granted an exclusive sneak peek of the giant Tiger to adorn the crepe paper creation.
The rest is top secret and will be finished on Wednesday night, and Mr Egan revealed the slogan would not attack the opposition.
"Our run-throughs are for Richmond. They're not for anyone else," he said.
Mr Egan said Richmond's cheer squad was the AFL's largest, with more than 600 members. Allocated 250 seats for the first final, he held a ballot.

painful 10 minutes today
M11 thank god
-
Still waiting, stupid website.
-
Yes extremely painful process
Ticketek website not coping with the traffic at all
Anyway seats in the Olympic stand category 1 :clapping :clapping which is what the crew wanted
I actually ended up using their other online site
m.ticketek.com.au
If you are haing trouble with the main one, try the "m" one much quicker

How do they guarantee that all the members who have guaranteed finals tickets actually get a ticket? :whistle
-
How do they guarantee that all the members who have guaranteed finals tickets actually get a ticket? :whistle
They can't :banghead :banghead and it is wrong IMHO and not good enough. Again hate to categorise different levels of m'ship but when folks pay extra for their m'ship based on a guarantee then I should receive what they's paid for
Response I got from the Club when we discussed this very point was "you get guaranteed access to purchase tickets" not a guaranteed ticket except for the GF. Mentioned to them during this "discusssion" that my package clearly states "guaranteed tickets to every final that the RFC participates in" = Massive difference IMVHO
Response..... (insert stony silence here) then "we'll need to look at that wording" ::)
Right now it doesn't matter as I got tickets but struth if we had of missed out .... :banghead :banghead

I think the higher your membership category is ,the better seat you get that they give you by the barcode.
That's what I'm thinking.
I got the middle stand behind the outer punt road goal 6th row.

Seriously? If I missed out I would have been asking for my extra money back. It's not even clever wording to trick people.

Absolutely not
I actually have a pretty high membership category (coterie memebership) and it makes no difference at all
Just ask the folks who fork out for Jack Club or Legends Club - we've all had to do exactly the same as everyone else this morning = no special seats, no speacial allocation. barcodes makes no difference, if we get seats great if wer miss out bad luck
Only seat choice you get was the category (1, 2, 3 etc) but I had no option on the actual seat, wanted level 2 Olympic all I could get was Level 1
I used the mobile site, got M55. :gotigers
Might see you we're in M53
Seriously? If I missed out I would have been asking for my extra money back. It's not even clever wording to trick people.
Seriously
also got told that as long as I was on the internet at 9am today I wouldn't miss out (and I haven't ) but as we are seeing the ticketek website is not coping and I am afraid somewhere along the line there will be people who are going to miss out in some way
-
Lol lucky I got up. Been thinking I was guaranteed a ticket all year because that's what it says.
-
Couldnt get a category 1 or 2 ended up getting category 3 which is ponsford stand lower level.
Just happy not to be in the top deck....
-
Got the missus to do it when she got to work. Originally had M11 Cat3 but the site kept dying. I told her to just get whatever she could as long as it was category 3. She got through on the mobile site and we're now M28. She said she definitely chose Richmond allocation so I hope there are some Tigers around there :pray would have thought it would be more Carlton that end :help
I used the mobile site, got M55. :gotigers
Probably in my H&A seat :'(

That is funny, same happened to me! It was lagging so bad, so I used my iPhone (ticketek and it was a breeze. Got M54, seems like Richmond members will be in M55, M54 or the whole Olympic Stand Level 1?
BRING IT ON CARLTON!
GO TIGERS!!!

Finally got mine :thumbsup. Only took forever! Thanks Ticketek ::) :rollin.
WP is right. Whatever type of RFC membership you have makes no difference on the Ticketek website. You are put in the same queue as everyone else trying to access any of the four finals. Once you finally get in ::), the only thing you can choose is to be part of the RFC allocation and which seating category (1 to 7) you want and then you've given whatever seat they give you.
-

The only thing any of us are guaranteed is GF tickets if that's part of your membership. But that not much use this week ;D
membership Barcodes that haven't got that guarantee wouldn't work but for weeks 1-3 of the finals it's a free for all :banghead
And sorry I'll say it again it isn't good enough for people who have in good faith paid extra. Every piece of paper I have says as an IS member I am guaranteed tickets to every final the RFC participates in. I've since been told this is not the case and I'm peeved about it >:(
Fortunately, I got tickets but I feel for those folks who have been trying for since 9am this morning but are getting timed out because of the incompetance of the ticket agent = Ticketek

Based on today's experience do we really have guaranteed access to the GF if we make one?! :-\ If GF tickets are allocated and distributed to RFC members via the Club then fine but if we have to go through the Ticketek website then good luck! :scream
The weird thing about today is I actually got offered better seats once I finally got back on 30 minutes later after being timed out and having to queue all over again. That's why I normally still go to the outlets so I can choose what I want rather than having a computer just spit out some random seats. However given you had to get the tickets this morning from 9am I went via the Ticketek website hoping it would be more convenient and faster :P :scream. Anyway I've got my ticket so it's all done.

It's all about barcodes MT
Today and for the next fortnight (weeks 1-3 of finals) any members barcode will work. Hence, why they say "guaranteed access to purchase tickets". Clubs give the ticket agency via the AFL all barcodes
For the GF the only barcodes that will work are those that clubs have given to the ticket agencies via the AFL that are GF access only
So in the case of the RFC the Club would have to give barcodes for all groups that guaranteed GF tickets. That is all coterie members, 3121, MRC, Premiership club (level 2 Southern reserve seat holders) to the AFL for on forwarding to the ticket agency
No matter how you look at it it's been a debacle and I can hardly wait for the finger pointing as to who's to blame
-
The club is to blame. Those muppets wrote the membership packages. stuffing pack of morons. Or are they? These pricks better make the GF. :banghead :banghead

:gotigers
Glad to know that that area looks to be Tigers members.
Maybe Dwaino? I'm in row Y lol. Would have loved to get my seats in N8 but wasn't going to muck around refreshing when I finally got the site to offer me some tickets :cheers
-
I don't think there are specific ends. It will go like 3 bays tigers 3 bays scum etc etc around the ground.

Not disputing what you're saying WP but still having to go through Ticketek will mean dealing again with their website timing out ::) when there's only a specific date and time period we'll be able to purchase GF tickets :scream.

For memory each competiting club has a full day set aside to purchase GF tickets.
Rather than the shambles we we have today in which we have 3 finals for purchase on ticketek (Skilled Satdium uses Ticketmaster) in a 4 hour period.
Remembering also there's only roughly 15-20k tickets allocated to each competing club for the GF so it should run a lot smother as there will be less people trying to access the site at the one time
-
After timing out twice I ended up in M4.
What a joke it is trying to get tickets! An hour 45 it took!!
-
Please, somebody say they are down Ponsford end around M28 so I can put my mind at ease I'm in a Tiger area :banghead the missus swears she selected Richmond, but I'm starting to get paranoid she has pulled a shifty one since she's a Blue :-[

Every person I've spoken to said they selected the tiger area and they've ended up all over the place
Some are in the Southern, some in the Ponsford others like me in the Olympic.
So who knows

Could of got tickets with my membership but decided to just reserve in mcc. Wanted level one and in 5 minutes single seats only, procrastinated on the bleachers, decided to have a look ' single seats only 20 minutes in'
Looks like I queue early Sunday.
Can only remember the mcc shutting shop once and that was a GF mel v ess.
Wouldn't put it past Richmond to achieve the same and in a lead up final.
Will have to book anz next week hawks will be another shot at reserving or walk up and heaven forbid we get to a prelim I may just fork out to sit with fellow members

AFL ticketing update - Rich v Carl
richmondfc.com.au
Monday, September 2, 2013
The AFL announced at 6pm on Monday evening (September 2) that only 427 restricted view and standing room tickets for Richmond’s First Elimination Final against Carlton remained.
More tickets may become available for purchase as a result of unused club, AFL or corporate allocations.
If available, tickets will be released via Ticketek at 10am EST on Thursday, September 5. These tickets will be strictly limited and subject to availability.

MCC RESERVE

AFL RESERVE

General public allocation exhausted.

What does that actually mean in reality though? How many seats are not filled at present? It always givens me the pips when a game is sold out yet you look over into the AFL reserves and MCC areas and they are only half full. Should have a certain amount of time to book a ticket and then after that the seats are opened to the MCC Reserve list. At least then the ground would be truly full.

Agree with you Stripes
In MCC/AFL speak:
It means public tickets sold to Club members and the general public (ie Puclic reserve) are sold out
AFL members - currently can still get seats up in the bleachers
MCC members - means what is says reserved seating gone but there are walk ups available on game day. For memory this is what OER' CUB is going to do on Sunday. try the walk up ;D
What does that actually mean in reality though? How many seats are not filled at present?
Great unknown as the MCC doesn't release this info to the public
I have never, ever believed any announcement when the AFL says a game at the MCG is sell out. The only thing they can ever say has sold out is the "Public Reserve". MCG cannot "sell out" while they allow walk ups on game day as it is dependant on whether people bother to show.
When was the last time the MCG had a crowd over 100k? year after year the say ANZAC day is a sellout but they get less than 99k
When the MCC and or the AFL call it a sell out they should be saying that the public areas are sold out rather than calling the event a sell out

Actually said to someone this morning that with the weather forecast saying showers on Sunday with a top temp of around 16 they wont get 95k now
The available number for "walk-ups" is supposedly over 10k, so based on that + the weather forecast doubt they will get 90k plus now

AFL deputy chief executive Gillon McLachlan forecast a crowd of more than 90,000 at the Richmond-Carlton clash.
The league believes as many as 240,000 spectators will crowd into its venues for the four games this weekend.
"Our forecast is up to 60,000 on Friday night, 33,500 at Geelong, 50,000-55,000 for (Collingwood-Port Adelaide), and it is all but sold out on Sunday so we are hoping that crowd is 90,000 or over," McLachlan said.
The AFL and MCC have worked hard in recent seasons to ensure sold-out MCG crowds are not smaller than 90,000, with empty seats in the AFL and MCC members' sections.
The last 500 seats for Richmond-Carlton will be released today at 10am.
