Boston back for another shot at the title after the curse of the Bambino was lifted in 04.
Playing the Colorado rockies wgho had won something like 21 of their last 22.
Boston go in slight favourites and in game 1 blow the Rockies away 13 - 1 to go 1 - nil up in best of 7.
If you got fox have a look, not a bad game.
Go SOX
-
I wonder if WP although a Yankees fan has tried to get tickets while over there.

Taco Bell offered free tacos if a player stole a base during the World Series. Well it happened in today's game and for four hours Americans could score a free taco lol.
-
Boston has just won the World Series in a clean sweep.
-
Boston were $7.50 to win the World Series Friday last week after they were 3-1 down to the Cleveland Indians.
In 2004 they were 3-0 down in their divisional finals before winning 4-3 and then going on to win the World Series 4-0.
I'll make a note for next time the year we win the wooden spoon I'll wait till the Sox are down in the divisional finals and out bet the kitchen sink and watch them sweep the World Series. :cheers
-
No I didn't try to get tickets for the World Series.
Was in Boston for game 1 but it was sold out.
Which means the only tickets you could get were from ticket brokers (aka legal scalpers ..that's how we got tickets to the Yankee game) and the starting price (I was told) was over $600 a ticket for the bleachers :gobdrop
-
Boston back to the AL Division playoffs v Tampa for something different.
Dodgers v Phillie in the NL
GO SOX - Well and truly buried the curse, let's hope the Tigers (AFL) can do the same soon.
-
I hope we don't have to wait 80 years though for it to happen CUB. Some of us are cranky old buggers as it is after 28 years lol.
-
Disappointed today as I was hoping for a White Sox championship.
Although a Yankee's fan I have a soft spot for the White Sox. I suupose they are my 2nd team
Will be sort of supporting the Dodgers now as their Manager Joe Torre used to be the Yankees manager until this year.
It is a the 13th straight year that a team managed by Torre has made the post season (12 for the Yankees & now 1 for LA)

Hahahahaha was it Tampa or the Marlins a few years back who beat Boston when the fan caught the ball in the stand just as the outfielder was ready to catch it and it was the turning point of the whole series as Boston went on to lose because of that play after they seemed to be in control of it. I think they were 3-1 up lost the game involving the fan catching the ball and went on to lose the other two to lose the series 4-3 and fail to make the World Series.
-
Tampa Bay tie up the American League championship 1-1 after winning in 11 innings 9-8. It heads to Fenway Park.... for 3 games
Hitters on top today :clapping
The bad Josh Beckett(Boston's "best" pitcher) turned up for the BoSox today :clapping ;D
Phillies & Dodgers on tomorrow in LA, with the Dodgers down 0-2 and not looking good at all
-
Tampa was leading 3 - 1 going into game 5
Boston 7 - Nil down going into bottom of seventh, then decide right at the last minute as is typical Sox style to play the get out of jail free card.
Win game 5 7 - 8
series 3 - 2
What odds they close this out and sweep the WS - :rollin

My team is there = Yankees
Would love to see a Yankees -v- Dodgers World Series
The AL series playoff between the Yankees & Angels - will be a ripper. Pitching is going to the be the key IMHO.
-
Yankees looking the go atm, great game today 13 innings it went.
-
Looks like being Yankees vs Phillies
Not a big baseball fan but have been watching some of it on ONE and Ryan Howard of the Phillies is hitting homer after homer making everyone else look like a mere mortal :o.
-
Come on Philliles then. Can't stand Yankees. Don't really have a team but follow the Cincinnati Reds a bit. Phillies vying to be first NL team to go back to back since the Big Red Machine in the 70s.
-
Yankees have never looked back since George Costanza arrived and departed from the organisation. :lol :rollin :lol
I don't really have a team either but judging but gambling on American sports has been lucrative for me in the past and I feel the Yankees will win the World Series.
-
Phillies through to the World Series but the Angels have pushed the ALCS to game 6 and trail the Yankees 2-3.
-
Yankees will win back at New York on Sunday and take the series 4-2 and then its the Phillies.
-

Gee I hope you are right Tucker
I was very disappointed yesterday, to get on top 6-4 after being down 0-4 after the first and then to blow the lead was awful
Looking forward to Sunday... can watch it live :clapping
-
Yankees won
So it's a Phillies vs Yankees World Series
-
Phillies doing it easy in New York.
-
Phillies are 1-0 in the series
After beating the Yankees 6-1 in game 1 at New Yankee Stadium
Don't think I'll bother with the replay tonight - terrible result
-
Yankees win 3-1 in game 2. Series tied 1-1.
Off to Phily now for games 3, 4 and 5.
-
Order has been restored in the Bronx ;D
Will watch the replay tonight :thumbsup
-
I still stand by the Yankees. Will win the series 4-3. :thumbsup
-
After 1hr 20 min rain delay
Yankees win game 3 in Phillie - 8 to 5
:clapping :clapping :clapping
-
go yankees
-
Yankees won game 4 in Philidephia 7-4
Lead series 3 - 1
-
Was a great game
Nice to be home and able to watch it live
Hopefully the Yanks clinch it tomorrow
-
Back to the Bronx we go after the Phillies win game 5
8-6
Diabolical pitching performance by the Yankees starter A J Burnett, who lasted to the third. The 2 home runs given up by Yankee pitcher Phil Coke (the joke who choked) in the 7th proved costly as well
Great effort by the Yanks to get as close as they did
But I am very very disappointed
-
WP will be a very happy camper ;D
Yankees just won the World Series winning game six 7-3
-
Well done to the Yankees winning the series 4-2.
I'd say right now WP would be watching the replay as it is on Channel 502 if he hasn't yet seen it. :thumbsup
-

Happy to report I was worng and we are not "goneskis" just yet ;D
Tamp Bay are "goneskis" though bounced out by the Rangers today
Phillies up 2 games to 1 against St Louis
-
Tight post season should be good league and world series to wrap it up.
-
Go the Yankees. :thumbsup
My sister is currently in New York and she got me a few Yankees caps. I'm converted.
Although George Costanza had me sold a long while ago whilst he was working there.

-
Rangers one win away from their first World Series
Defeated St Louis 4-2 today in Texas
They head back to St Louis Thursday
-
Well the Rangers had St Louis down and out 7-5 going into the 9th
Choked 7-7 after 9 innings
10th Innings - Rangers score 2 runs lead 9-7
Choke choke St Louis level 9-9
St Louis score in the 9th win 10-9
We go to the deciding 7th game
-
1 strike out away bottom 9th then 10th Great game massive choke.
Cards were gawn for all money, going to get home early so I can have a quick nap and catch the 2nd half of the decider.

Yep when Jeter busted his ankle our season went down the tiolet.
As for ARod :chuck :chuck Always knew he was selfish so 'n' so but in Mae one saw the most selfish batting effort I can remember. Disgusting!
But he is not the only one not hitting. Cano = hit less, Swisher swinging but not contacting, Granderson not good
Verlander and Valverde 8)
Valverde? You are kidding blew another save in game 1, gave up a HR to Ichiro and and then the tying HR to Raul Ibanez. Cannot see Valverde being given closer duties again any time soon
-
LMAO :lol I mention a name and you reply with "you are kidding". I didn't even say anything
Valverde has been a scary pitcher over the years. Jimmy knows :shh
-
LMAO :lol I mention a name and you reply with "you are kidding". I didn't even say anything
Valverde has been a scary pitcher over the years. Jimmy knows :shh
That you mention Valverde in the same sentence as Verlander who's probably the best pitcher in the majors was enough for a "you're kidding"
And you're right Jimmy knows that's whay he said he wouldn't be the closer for game 2 and possible game 3 ;D
-
They have been partners in crime for a few years and that will continue. Jim has defended Papa.
-
Valverde has converted a major league-best 93.2% (110 of 118) of his save opportunities since joining the Tigers in 2010. He'll be back.
He's not a starter so you can't compare him to Verlander but you can certainly mention him in the same sentence as the AL MVP.
They have been partners in crime for a few years and that will continue. Jim has defended Papa.
-
Oh, 3-0 :cheers
-
Oh, 3-0 :cheers
yep Yankees season is like Jeter's ankle = STUFFED :thumbsup
And I notice Jim didn't go to Vervalde again, though Coke almost did a choke :cheers

Was hoping the series would go the distance, I would have been in San Fran for games 6 & 7 :banghead
Ah well
It was nice my 2 fav sides made the Fall Classic by knocking out my 2 most hated sides, couldn't lose in the end ;D
-
They have been partners in crime for a few years and that will continue. Jim has defended Papa.
People really shouldn't question me. Papa Grande is back

I bet I know where we'll find WP around March 22/23 next year:
Let’s play ball: Sydney to bring in US season
Date: June 13, 2013 - 8:10AM
Adrian Proszenko
The Major League Baseball season will begin in Sydney next March, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks set to play two games at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Fairfax Media can reveal that Sydney has won the rights to host the opening series, marking 100 years since the Chicago White Sox played against a combined NSW team in 1914.
Major League Baseball, the Australian Baseball League and Destination NSW have been working on the project for several years. An official announcement is expected on Thursday.
The move is a massive coup for Australian sport and for Sydney. It is expected the matches will be seen by a global television audience of 175 million, with about 75million of those viewers in the US alone. The event is also expected to provide a boost to the NSW economy, drawing at least 15,000 overseas tourists and generating tens of millions of dollars to the local economy.
One of the biggest drawcards won’t be playing. Dodgers owner Earvin ‘‘Magic’’ Johnson is a further selling point in what will be one of the biggest events since the Sydney Olympics. A National Basketball Association hall of famer following his exploits for the Los Angeles Lakers, Johnson will watch his team play at the SCG on March 22 and 23.
The Dodgers and Diamondbacks are expected to be in Sydney for six days. It is understood that a warm-up game – potentially against an Australian all-star team or the Sydney Blue Sox – could be considered.
When Fairfax Media broke the news of plans to take the event to Sydney on October 26 of last year, MLB officials denied the story.
‘‘We are not currently in negotiations with the Dodgers or any team to play in Australia,’’ Major League Baseball spokesman Pat Courtney said at the time.
The negotiations have been a highly guarded secret, with MLB officials threatening to scupper the deal if details were made public.
Jason Moore, the director of sports event-marketing firm Moore Sports, has been working on the project for almost seven years.
‘‘We’ve been to the altar a couple of times and we now believe we’re getting up to bat, so to speak,’’ Moore said last year.
‘‘This will be the biggest sporting event in Sydney since the 2003 Rugby World Cup final. The time zone and the scheduling of the game means we’re maximising the exposure throughout the world. Our planned Sunday afternoon game will go live to the US West Coast at8pm, prime time on Saturday night. We’re not talking about exhibition games – we’re talking about ... real-deal competition games.’’
The move to Australia marks just the sixth time that a series have been played outside the US, with three previously played in Japan. But rather than just a one-off, Australian officials hope to stage games every four years.

Wasn't they the two teams who had a punch on yesterday in their game after the pitcher threw the ball into the batter.
-
I bet I know where we'll find WP around March 22/23 next year:
:lol
Unlikely, Smokey don't really like either of the teams. I knew it wouldn't be my Yankees but I thought Pittsburgh or the Twins might have been a show ;D
-
Wasn't they the two teams who had a punch on yesterday in their game after the pitcher threw the ball into the batter.
yep Nope it was Pittsburgh (Pirates) -v- San Francisco (Giants)
The Giants pitcher has been suspended for 3 games and the Giants Manager suspended for 1
See: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/22396896/george-kontos-suspended-3-games-bruce-bochy-1-for-hbp

so to answer your question tiger101, it was the dodgers and the diamondbacks :lol
-
Good news (if we decide to go) is that there's going to be a ticket pre-sale for ABL members so they will get first crack at the public tickets
Question gerks, will the SCG re-development be finished by March 2014?
-
so to answer your question tiger101, it was the dodgers and the diamondbacks :lol
Well I was wrong on this too
I knew about the Pirates -v- Giants stoush bcos I keep an eye on the Pirates but did not know about the Dodgers -v- D'backs one ;D
Yep the Dodgers & D'Backs had a bigger barney
See:

A NBA hall of famer following his exploits for the Los Angeles Lakers, Johnson will oversee his team playing at the SCG in March on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23. Major renovations at the ground will be completed before the fixtures.

MLB bankrolls the ABL competition, which is used by American clubs to identify and develop prospective Majors talent.
Local officials are expecting a huge spike in interest and participation following the visit.

How'd you go WP?
Got tickets via the pre-sale too gerks :thumbsup
We are going up for the Sunday game. Got seats in the O'Reilly stand along the 3 base line
Agree about them being pricey
But I remember when we went to old Yankee stadium back on 2007 we paid $260 a ticket for seats at the top of the stand that ran along the first base line. So in comparison to those these tkts seemed on par price wise.
Believe the bleacher seats; the cheapest ones are almost all gone?
-
Good stuff :thumbsup
That time of year you might be looking into the sun all day in the OReilly ;D
Got bronze front row along 1st base line for game 1 and outfield a couple of bays further along for game 2.
Yeah not many tix left and the MLB honchos said if it sells out they'll be back for more games maybe even as soon as next year.
-
You lads catching up for a brew? Tell ya what, if Detroit were coming across then I'd be there and we'd have a threesome
-
Great to see the MLB handout some decent panalties to 13 players for using PEDs
Hardest hit is Alex Rodriguez suspended for the remainder of this season and all of 2014 = about 211 or 214 games
Scumbag A-Rod is appealing though and can while his appeal is being heard
I am Yankees fan and I am disgusted they played him today. I know under the rules he's allowed to play while appealing but morally it's bankrupt.
All I can say is GO PITTSBURGH, best story in the MLB right now
Go PIRATES Go
-
After 21 losing season the Pittsburgh Pirates won their 81st game of this season
This means they are guaranteed a winning season for the first time since 1992
A fantastic effort, a great sporting story for the 2013 MLB season
Bring on the playoffs
Go Pirates :clapping :clapping
-
Yeah well done there :clapping
Don't think they'll make it through to the National League champion playoff, Braves v Dodgers i reckon
Tigers v Red Sox in the American League
Tigers for the World Series ;D :cheers

Pirates have just won the Wold Card playoff game against the Reds 6-2
Firsdt Post season win since 1992 :clapping
Play the Cardinals now in the best of 5 divisional series
GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:bow :clapping :bow
-
St Louis Boston and Detroit my 3 teams awesome
-
Seeing I've given the Yankees the stuff, not because they missed the post season but becasue they played that stinking low-life drug cheat A-Rod for the 2nd half of the year :banghead :banghead Dont care what the rules say they fact they played him was morally bankrupt
I am now officially a Pittsburgh Priates fan (although they've always been my NL team)
GO BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Have always liked the Detroit Tigers for obvious reasons but I have a soft spot for the A's as I love a good "Balfour Rage!!!".
Grant Balfour IMO is one of the best closing pitchers in the game!

Considering he was playing injured in near meaningless games in the second last series of the season when they couldn't miss post season, I'd be surprised if he didn't play now the real stuff is here
Cards belting the Pirates 8-1, only through 5 :o
-
I bet WP is hoping they introduce the Mercy rule in MLB. Up by 7 after 5?? that is a slaughter. Who is pitching for them gerks? Is it Locke?
-
No started with AJ Burnett, but he was replaced in the 3rd after facing 8 batters in that innings and giving up 7 runs, Gomez pitched 4 innings, they are now onto their 4th pitcher top of the 8th, 9-1
-
Wow, the fat lady is now singing......
Sad to hear for WP......
-
Well it's only game 1 and they now head back to Pittsburgh so...
But yeah I had the Cards getting through to World Series, the Pirates won't trouble them
-

I thought game 2 was still at Busch then the following 2 are at PNC? Either way the Cards get 3 of the 5 at home so it will be really tough for the Pirates to get up.

You are correct tiga, game 2 is in St Louis
Games 3 & 4 (if required) are in Pittsburgh
Good old AJ Burnett ::) ::)
The AJ I knew from his Yankees days turned up today, the horrible one. When he is bad his is worse than woeful & pathetic
Watched the 1st inning this morning before I left for work. Thought then he didn't look good, just didn't seem to have the control. Other thing with AJ and this will sound stupid but early in games if he is sweating heavily he is likely not going to be "on song".
LA & Atlanta palying now and the Dodgers are up 2-0 in the 3rd
-
Personally I thought they should have started with Locke. I know he gets a bit of a bad wrap but I reckon he would have done better than Burnett.
-
It's a pity Francisco Liriano can't pitch on a daily basis or we don't have multiple Liriano's ;D
Mabye it's time for some cloning ;D

Yep Detroit through to the ALCS to take on Boston
Verlander (arguably the best pitcher in the majors) only gave up 2 hits and struck out 10
Oakland didn't have a hope
-
They had the tying run at the plate in the 9th against Benoit
They had a hope
