Speaking of Mark Seymour, I'm currently reading his very interesting book "Thirteen Tonne Theory", which chronicles the career of Hunters and Collectors. They started out as a kind of Industrial punk band, bashing out tribal beats on hot water tanks, and slowly became more and more radio-friendly. Huge success eluded them though. I think they got stuck in that middle ground where they were considered too arty-farty for the mainstream, and too mainstream for the alternative set.
