Can't wait for that!!

Apparently The Superjesus, Holly Valance, Merril Bainbridge and Jason Donovan are on the shortlist for 2010.

Jimmy Barnes eh? In an AGE online poll this morning, 78% of respondents claimed that they didn't enjoy the pre-Grand Final entertainment. I can't see that figure improving with that tone-deaf shrieker murdering the national anthem.

I don't know why the AFL bother. It's always shocking. They'd be better off sticking with just footy.

I remember a story in the 90s when Wayne Jackson was AFL CEO and the AFL asked a bunch of teenagers what they would like to see at the Grand Final. The kids said we want Smashing Pumpkins. The AFL suits listening replied that that would be too messy  :wallywink  :lol.

Speaking of Mark Seymour, I'm currently reading his very interesting book "Thirteen Tonne Theory", which chronicles the career of Hunters and Collectors. They started out as a kind of Industrial punk band, bashing out tribal beats on hot water tanks, and slowly became more and more radio-friendly. Huge success eluded them though. I think they got stuck in that middle ground where they were considered too arty-farty for the mainstream, and too mainstream for the alternative set.

Given the number of theatregoers and corporates who gain GF tickets while club members who go every week miss out the AFL already have enough of them.
