Coburg coach Tim Clarke's summary of how the Richmond-listed players performed on Saturday:
David Astbury
Was really good for three quarters in defence, playing on a range of opposition ‘talls’ and ‘smalls’. Used the ball better than in previous weeks.
Matt Arnot
Had a solid game offensively, generating a lot of run and carry for the team. Picked up 27 disposals and had a couple of shots for goal. Needs to do more defensively, however.
Ben Darrou
Produced another good performance in defence, on a quality opponent in Bonaddio. Had only two goals kicked on him and gathered 28 possessions. Continues to show solid improvement.
Matt Dea
Played a good game off half-back, picking up 28 touches and taking some really good chop-out marks. Was great to have his run back in the team.
Tom Derickx
Battled hard in the ruck, and competed well in contests around the round. But needs to get to more contests, to create more opportunities for the team.
Todd Elton
Had his best game in defence, playing on a dangerous opponent in Galea. Battled well right throughout the match. His defensive starting positions were much better this time.
Ben Griffiths
Spent the majority of the game in the forward line, with occasional stints down back. Created some really good contests and had two scoring opportunities, but kicked poorly.
Brad Helbig
Worked well offensively, racking up 31 disposals. Was good around stoppages and contests, but needs to provide more defensively.
Liam McBean
Was again very dangerous up forward. Presented well at marking contests, and his ground-level work also was good. Hit the scoreboard with three goals in another really impressive display.
Matt McDonough
Played a really solid game, starting forward and then moving into the midfield. Had 25 touches and used the ball extremely well. Stoppage and contested work again were features of his performance.
Kamdyn McIntosh
Started on a wing, but was moved on to a quality opponent in John Baird after half-time in a run-with role. Did a good job in negating his influence, while also learning from the experience.
Gideon Simon
Struggled up forward, but still managed to apply some pressure when the opposition had the ball.
Orren Stephenson
Showed some glimpses of his ability in the ruck, but was below his usual high standard.
Steve Verrier
Played a really good game on the opposition’s small forwards. Was tight defensively and provided good run and carry, but needs to use the ball better.
