Cotchin was offered 5 years last time and turned it down. Only wanted 2 because he wanted to "back himself in" to get a better deal next time round.

On that point, does anyone think he deserves more this time round? IMO it probably hasn't worked for him as I reckon his value has gone down a smidge

Why would you say that ? He just won his third JD Medal and was our leading vote getter in the Brownlow finishing in 8th spot overall.

Yeh but he does a dinky kick every now and then these days
And runs behind the mark to get a cheap kick from time to time. Trade whilst his currency is high.

Chuck touched on it in a smart arse way. I just reckon when he signed his previous contract their was a lot of hype around how good he was going to be because he was being damned damaging. Now I feel that he isn't quite as damaging and that 2012 year was a bit of a flash in the pan type year. Still an elite player who deserves the highest pay at Richmond :thumbsup

No doubt 2012 was his best year but the ' flash in the pan ' call is way off.
It's been obvious to opposition clubs that if you tag Cotchin hard we'll struggle. That's an indictment on his teammates.
He's taken on the captaincy at Richmond as a 23yr old kid and it's one of the toughest gigs in footy. He's goin ok.
He'd be worth a fortune on the free market.

I don't know, his 2012 so far has been simply amazing. But I can't argue with any of the other stuff as he continues to be a great player. All I'm saying is if he was hoping for a lot more money I don't think it's quite worked out for him as he thought, although as captain and still a damn good player he'll probably still get a pay rise
