But sometimes they don’t have to look too far in order to strengthen their chances of success for the next season.
Nearly every club has a hardluck injury story each year, with players forced to miss extended periods of time due to frustrating, long-term issues.
We’ve gone through each club and nominated its “internal recruits” — the important players who will return to the field in 2015 after missing the majority, or entirety, of the 2014 season.
RICHMONDDavid Astbury is one of the most promising young defenders in the competition. But his second serious knee injury, suffered in Round 9 this year, halted the consistency and momentum he’d worked so hard to build up. Astbury is set to undertake a full pre-season and return to the footy field in 2015.
