Anyone have any interest in drafting Frankston's poweful FF. Been killing it down in the VFL and still quite young, surely worth a punt

The Eagles delisted Edwards which isn't a good sign given their lack of key forwards. His one good AFL game was against us last year at the G when he kicked 3 goals in the first quarter on Joel  :scream.

Apparently a few AFL clubs are interested in another Dolphin - Aaron(?) Eames. Former "strongman" who lost 40kg to play Aussie rules. He might get rookie listed as a ready-made ruckman if the new one overage rookie rule is brought in.

I cannot see Richmond being interested but I can see a team like the Bulldogs being very interested. I think he is 20-22 y.o.

I would question whether Eames has enough mobility to make it in the AFL - I remember down at Frankston Knobel (prior to hurting his ankle) out sprinting Eames and with all due repsect to Knobs he aint no Stephenson, Shrivington or Pat Johnson ;D

He might be worth a punt on the rookie list, now that you can whack one older player on as a rookie.

The lycra running suit wouldn't be a good look for Knobs either  :-X.

Edwards admits in The Age today that he is no tall forward despite being Frankston's FF. Most likely why he is playing VFL and not AFL.

Purple patch works wonders for Frankston forward

Edwards was then taken with pick nine in the 2003 rookie draft, but struggled with opportunities at West Coast.

"Because I'm not a tall forward, I had to compete with Ashley Sampi and Phillip Matera," Edwards said. "So, while they're on the paddock, no matter how well you're playing in the WAFL, you're never going to get a guernsey."

His marking ability, especially overhead, always has been excellent. But perhaps owing to a childhood of kicking different-shaped balls, his goalkicking was once his Achilles heel.

"I've had a pretty horrid last couple of years with my kicking," he admits. "I definitely didn't have the greatest kick coming through juniors. Obviously, I started a bit later than others. I have now restructured my routine, and done a heap of training on it. It's really paid off this year."

Edwards' conversion rate is now about 65 per cent, and he is a realistic chance of being re-drafted into the AFL.
