Edwards admits in The Age today that he is no tall forward despite being Frankston's FF. Most likely why he is playing VFL and not AFL.

Edwards was then taken with pick nine in the 2003 rookie draft, but struggled with opportunities at West Coast.
"
Because I'm not a tall forward, I had to compete with Ashley Sampi and Phillip Matera," Edwards said. "So, while they're on the paddock, no matter how well you're playing in the WAFL, you're never going to get a guernsey."
His marking ability, especially overhead, always has been excellent. But perhaps owing to a childhood of kicking different-shaped balls, his goalkicking was once his Achilles heel.
"I've had a pretty horrid last couple of years with my kicking," he admits. "I definitely didn't have the greatest kick coming through juniors. Obviously, I started a bit later than others. I have now restructured my routine, and done a heap of training on it. It's really paid off this year."
Edwards' conversion rate is now about 65 per cent, and he is a realistic chance of being re-drafted into the AFL.
