Total VFL/AFL crowds 1897-2007

                        H/A            + finals
Collingwood   51,469,418  60,380,571
Carlton          46,747,460  54,020,655
Essendon       45,609,258  52,722,650
Richmond      44,330,876  49,032,536

Next is....
Melbourne      39,773,977  45,029,948

And remember we didn't enter the comp till 1908.

Very interesting. Goes to show that if we were a foundation VFL AFL team from 1897
at worst we would be on par with Carlton and Essendon and at best in terms of attendances we would be ahead of those two and just behind to only Scumwood or at least just ahead. :thumbsup

There are a lot of reasons/excuses in that thread from other club supporters. The thing is,IF the Hawks had a good supporter base as others have said, they wouldnt have to play in Tassie or at the Dome, and IF W.A and S.A had more than 2 clubs to follow and IF we could put a few good seasons together, well then the figures would be different. Its funny how the  supporters that wont admit to there being a Big Four  are not in the Big Four lol As you said HT...inferiority complex :)
Only 36k to their first final in 6 years says it all about the Hawks  :wallywink.
