Four cop cars on Ben Cousins' trail, says lawyer

TROUBLED footy star Ben Cousins was followed by four police cars in the lead-up to his dramatic arrest on a failed drug charge, it has been claimed.
Two crews from Western Australia's gang squad police had him under surveillance, according to lawyer Peter Momber, representing the third man in the case.
Mr Momber wants police to hand over details of the operation ahead of client Nathan Greaves's next hearing in December.
Mr Greaves, 33, had been a passenger in West Coast Eagles player Daniel Chick's car when the vehicle was intercepted last Tuesday.
Police stopped Ben Cousins, 29, in his car at the same time, seizing prescription drugs including Viagra and the sedative diazepam.
Mr Greaves was charged with possessing cocaine, cannabis and a smoking implement but Chick was questioned and released.
He left Australia to visit his son in the US this week.
Cousins was charged with possessing a prohibited drug when he told detectives he did not have a prescription for the sedative, and was later sacked by the West Coast club. The charge was dropped when police realised diazepam was banned only in liquid form.
Mr Momber hopes to have police running sheets, police diaries, phone intercept warrants and witness statements within the next six weeks.
Mr Momber would not say whether he believed that conversations involving Mr Greaves, Cousins and Chick had been picked up on telephone intercepts.
Police have so far declined to comment on growing evidence that Cousins had been arrested as part of a wider sting.
Meanwhile, doubts have emerged about whether Cousins will proceed with plans to visit the US for drug rehabilitation. There is speculation he may continue his treatment from home.
"I do know that he is in such turmoil at the moment that where he goes, when he goes and if he goes will depend on clarity and what his medical advisers say," said a source familiar with his problems.
