I don't mind if Axel misses out. At least then he won't get injured.

I'll still watch it just to see Irish youngsters such as Tom Parsons as he may end up a possible Tiger in 2 months time. They said a few weeks ago that one of the young Irish players in the squad attended the Irish draft camp and is on our radar.

Foley started every quarter in the bench so ending up with the 6 most possies isn't too bad although he wasn't that noticeable or influential on the game. It looked like Malthouse was using him as a 2nd tier tagger/inside mid. A couple of quick handballs in traffic from Foley set up 'overs' for the Aussies and he caused a couple of turnovers with his tackling. A 1-2 with Rodan that resulted in an 'over' had Rodan pointing and thanking Axel for the assist.

ps. Bock has no idea about goalkeeping. Bring back Chubba out of retirement!

pps. Daisy Thomas is going for the most ridiculous looking hair with pink in his blonde peroxide hair lol.

Heart in mouth stuff when that Irish guy slid boots and legs first into Foley diving on the ball  . Thank gawd Axel is okay and didn't break an arm.

Yes I wasnt too pleased about that.  I'm guessing it's part of the Irish game but geez it looks cowardly when they do it and our bloke dive head first in.

Yep another Irish player got penalised for kicking in danger earlier in the game and couldn't understand why a free was paid. The worse thing about Axel's one was he had his arms wrapped around the ball on the ground as the Irish boots came in  . Courageous by Foley and I personally liked the game but we would be screaming blue murder if Axel was seriously injured and missed 6-8 weeks of the preseason with a broken arm.

Not having watched the game I am only guessing but what you describe sounds a bit like the Soccer style sliding tackle. With the round ball it would appear to be a sound tactic, completely useless for our AFL guys and against the rules. Gaelic football doesn't sound particularly like "body on the line" type stuff so going in with your feet is probably not that dangerous. Because the bounce of the ball is predictable you probably don't need to jump on it to ensure possession.

Yep it was exactly like a soccer sliding tackle RROFO. In Gaelic football you aren't allowed to dive on the ball or take possession of ball while on the ground or on your knees so what Foley did is foreign to them. That still doesn't make it any less a dangerous kick.
