northey didnt hold the club for ransom at all.

all he wanted was some job security, and he had earned it.

Mal brown was heading a very public campaign to have him replaced.

With that going on and the club refusing to extend his contract, how could you blame him for taking a 3 year contract elsewhere. Who needs constant undermining from wanna be powerbrokers  while trying to do their job

The only way to prove mal brown wrong was to win a premiership. What coach in the history of the game has had winning the premiership as a condition of keeping the job.

"Give me a 3 year contract or I'm walking" isn't holding the club to ransom?
I know it was a few years later but Paul Roos proved that boards can be won over in the right circumstances.
The whole must win a premiership or he won't get a contract extension is just opinion - we will never really know but it is highly unlikely he would've been sacked had we delivered a strong 1996.
Anyway, Mal Brown - let's not give him the credit, imagine the smug look of content on his ginormous, pumpkin shaped melon head if he read these posts!

Pretty sure he asked for an extra year not 3.

Don't bring that old chestnut up again, how much more security could you need than be in a contract midstream. That bloody maggot left for a bigger pot of gold at the end of the rainbow , was poetic justice he stuffed up in the end and I'm still reeling the silly was made a tiger hall of famer  :banghead

My mail is that you were one the faceless stuffs backing Brown in this caper and that you two went down to the Footscray Park public toilets to celebrate when Northey announced he was leaving
Well you can return that mail straight back up the clacker , along with the rest of the drivel that spews from your gob, coz you are.   W r o n g  :chuck

I'm not sure it was spelt out but logic says we would've needed a 3 year contract which was what Brisbane offered him. He had a year to run and so it was a 2 year extension which would've done the job.
Ironically, this is what we gave Dimma at the end of last year and how we all feeling about that right now!
It's that simple Spud

As I understand it, Brisbane was never in the picture, but once it became clear the club were holding out and not going to give John the year he officially walked and then Brisbane jumped. Further to that, the only reason John wanted the extra year was bc sheedy was coming out of contract end of 96 and he could see the writing on the wall with the stuff Mal was saying. All I saw from John and his wife was complete and utter despair/disappointment and anger with the way John was treated. To this day I have no doubt that he wanted to stay but felt he was dead man walking which is just sad.

pretty much how i saw it pan out, too Tony.

Brisbane didn't come into it until it was clear that Richmond were not prepared to offer anything at all.

Agree with you boys yet some feel on here and felt the same way yet someone on here thinks that making a two time premiership player in Northey a hall of gamer was silly, yet Sheeds held both Richmond and Essendon for ransom when his contract was up for renewal but there is no issue there. :help

Question
Am going to the game as always unlike some on here
I do I record it on IQ .? As there is no provision for the press red for Kev
If you press record .it will just record normal commentary

Answer - learn how to work a remote.

As I have said clown
You can record the normal commentary on IQ from the remote app on with the actual remote but if your at the game and the record function is preset
You cannot record Press Red for Kev
I obviously understand this better than you as you don't even understand the problem thus cannot give me a solution
Foxtel cannot help either I have just found out saying that you wil be able to record the replay later in the week ?

guess what clown

some people can think more than 1 impulsive step ahead of the moment. its called vision.

As i said fool, learn to work your remote

Playing a drinking game now.

Swig of beer each time:
Dimma is mentioned

2 swings of beer each time:
Tom Hafey or Jack Dyer is mentioned

Skull
Each time any of our previous premiership is mentioned
Richmond Theme song is quoted
Go Tigers!
