Kevin Barlett joined by Dale Weightman and Mal Brown for commentary of Richmond v North Melbourne on Fox Footy
Josh Hanrahan
Herald-Sun
June 07, 2014

HE’S a Richmond legend.

A five-time premiership player, five-time best-and-fairest and former coach, Kevin Bartlett’s blood runs yellow and black.

So this Sunday when ‘KB’ jumps back into the commentary box for the match between the Tigers and North Melbourne, expect the thoughts of ‘Hungry’ to be coming through yellow and black eyes.

Following on from the success of ‘Press Red for Ed’, Foxtel viewers will be able to ‘Press Red for Kev’ this weekend and enjoy watching the game as called by the Tigers legend.

After the first instalment of Eddie McGuire’s pro-Collingwood commentary last year, Bartlett pushed for the Tigers to have a call in their favour.

“Why can’t we push yellow for a pro-Richmond call?” Bartlett said last year.

After Ed’s second instalment last month, the AFL Hall of Famer has finally been granted his wish.

“I was outraged when FOX FOOTY management allowed Eddie to once again rule the airwaves with his prejudiced Pie-eyed calling. It was time to give someone else — as well as another team — a go. I fought for it and I won,” Bartlett said.

Bartlett will be joined in the call by fellow ex-Tiger, the always controversial Mal Brown and wearer of the yellow and black for 275 games, Dale Weightman.

The mix of characters in the commentary box is likely to provide quite the spectacle, particularly for Tigers fans.

For Kangaroos supporters, or general football watchers who don’t want to watch their game called through yellow and black eyes, the usual balanced call from Anthony Hudson, Jason Dunstall, Alastair Lynch and David King on channel 504 is always available.

‘Kev TV’ can be accessed simply by pressing the red button on the Foxtel remote during the broadcast. The Tigers games record holder will provide a Richmond biased take on the game, something he is definitely unashamed about.

“Oh we’re the Tigers … YELLOW AND BLACK!” Bartlett said.

Would've loved Rexy Hunt as well
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

I thought the same thing. At minimum he will start giving us crap in an attempted humorous way.

Mal Brown has done a lot of great things for the club that dont get recognised. For a long time some of our best recruits from WA came to Richmond because of Mal Browns intervention back in WA where he did some fantastic work. Maurice Rioli & Robert Wiley being just 2 examples where Mal played a big role in their recruitment.

Jackstar is back!!!

After what seemed like an eternioty of being simply crap, we finally had a coach that had us playing hard uncompromising and good football. we won more than our share of close games and showed a fighting spirit unseen for ages in coming from behind to defeat essendon in a final.'

Thanks to that c-vag we lost that coach and got a carlton piece of excrement  to start the slide back into the mire for another decade.

Any perceived good he may have done  pales into comparison in terms of overall and long term affect his undermining of Northey had on RFC.

He should be banned from having anything to do with the club.

Stuff him and his family.
