Would let Short go. Riewoldt Edwards and Cotchin could all retire at the end of 2022.

No tall fwds there apart from Buddy and Gunston makes taking a Key forward in the draft even more important.

I rate short but he is exactly the type of player you would trade because he has value. I do want to keep him but if he goes I wouldn’t cry either.

I agree but if he’s a free agent then he leaves and we get nothing.
I like Shorty, love his offensive game and is the only bloke who can kick either foot - I’d argue his left peg would be in the top 3 on our list.
Getting rid of blokes who can kick isn’t smart. Especially in our current team.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Short won a B&F in a flag year. High praise.

He had a poor 2021 like most of the team.

He's a good player and if he's going via FA I would expect it would be for good money (and good compo) or we would arrange a trade.

Would I let him go? No. Would like to see him on the wing.

Cotch will retire so there will be room in the cap for short and a few others to get pay rises. Can't see anyone leaving now unless for more game time.

This will most likely sound a bit provocative but I wonder if Goldie would be up for a trade (instead of restricted free agency particularly if we said we would match) where they get Shorty, Lambo and a first rounder and we get Max King.
Give me a gun key forward to replace Jack and back our current crop of young talent to replace Shorty and Lambo.

Only if Max King wanted out. Otherwise GC would be crazy to entertain losing him. KPFs don't grow on trees.

Cotch and Jack will likely retire

Edwards depending on injuries will go around and again and won't leave

Soldo won't leave

And Lambert and Short won't be going anywhere either.

Dare I say it,  nothing to see here  ;D

... while Richmond is the same bar [free agents are mostly veterans] Jayden Short, who should command a strong deal at the Tigers having won a best and fairest in a premiership year since his last contract was sealed.
