« on: February 10, 2009, 02:18:09 PM »
Richmond star joins Angela and Michael on PTSI ahead of this weekend's NAB Cup opener against Fremantle. The Tigers have raised a staggering amount of money through fans in support of the Bushfire Appeal Fund.

Summary

* Bushfire initiative - we did it for the first time for the tsunami appeal. In the scale of things it's only a small gesture but it was an opportunity to raise money for the bushfire appeal. The least we could do.

* Cousins - been great. He's been such a successful player with the Brownlow, premiership and B&Fs so he's going to add such great knowledge around the club. That great experience of playing in winning cultures so it's going to be a huge benefit having him around the club. Our membership is up thanks to the way we finished off last year and Ben coming on board. We've had a number of Western Australians join up. We've definitely received a heap of exposure as a result which has been good for the club.

* Intraclub - first time he's been to an intraclub with 2000 people turn up. Nice to play in front of a good crowd. Foley played on Cogs and Collins and few guys like that. Plenty of rotations these days.

* NAB Cup - Yep we're going over there (to Perth) to win. Once you step on the ground you're there to win. Be nice to go over there and get a win. We head over to Perth on Friday for a function with supporters then play on Sunday.

* Preseason (who is stood out?) - Daniel Jackson and Matty White. Running very strongly. Hopefully they get the benefits of a good preseason. In general we've been lucky that the majority of the group have completed pretty much most of the preseason so it's the guys in their 3rd/4th preseason that will benefit having that under their belt.

* Cogs - one of those who hasn't missed a session. He's had a horrid couple of years due to injury so it's great to see him come back and get some consistency even with his training and playing in the intraclub.

* Finals? - Important to think about playing finals but our aim is to improve. We finished Ninth so obviously if we are to improve that means we are aiming to play finals this year.

* Polak - Went really well in the intraclub. Played about half or just over a half. Played in the forward line and leading up and taking a few grabs. He's done really well. He's got a bit to go but he's travelling really well given where he's come from.

* New rushed behind rule - makes it interesting when you're 15m out from the opposiion goal. Some you need to adpat to and adapt quickly. Good to see how it goes.

* Axel was asked if he ever had the urge to punch a teammate in an intraclub lol. Axel said it does get competitive out there but never to the degree to thump someone. Something you haven't see often in intraclub games.

What about booting someone up the arse?  We have probably had a few of those that needed it.

Wow, the standard Cousins question came second this time...the interviewers obviously keen to show their sensitive side first by asking about the contribution to the Bushfire appeal.

I'd love for one of the players to have a play with the standard Cousins question next time it comes up:

"Yeah, that Cousins bloke has been here 5 minutes and already thinks he's top dog.  He prances around like his poo doesn't stink.  He turns up stoned one day and high the next.  He's trying to pedal his stuff off to the young guys.  Shocking recruitment decision by the club really."  :lol  That would shock them  ;D

There's going to be extra pressure on Jacko and Whitey this year as everyone at the Club has been pumping them up all summer.

What about booting someone up the behind?  We have probably had a few of those that needed it.
We like decking Carlton players too. Just ask Balmey and Mal  ;D.

Its good, we need to start being a bit bolder with regard to making statements about our emerging talent, our list and expectations for the year ahead.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Don't forget poor old Neville Crowe too MT. Even though it was an airy, Nichols made it look like it was chin music from hell!
