I'd like Griffiths and Talia
I wonder if we can somehow trade Pick 3 for 2 x Top 10 picks to get both

I just worry about Butcher because he's from Maffra. No-one good ever comes from Maffra.

Also, Jeff Gieschen was from Maffra  :yep

And yet Maffra always seem to be winning premierships in the G-LFL! But that was after Geishen left :)

It would be near impossible for one team to get two top 10 picks and then trade for one....Freo might though

They have some gun players, a couple made AFL lists. Apart from Ben Robbins, none ever had successful AFL careers.

I reckon Melbourne could get another top 10 for Colin Sylvia.

DISAGREE.  Alot of highest quality footballers in the country have come out of that league & club. THE LIST IS HUGE who have won Brownlows & gone onto coaching & current day & still producing
One of the best breeding zones in the country WGLVFL (LVFL) in fact so strong it fielded a team in the Old VFA
Alot of VFL/AFL players retire back into the league where is remains to produce high standard football & AFL breeding ground
A list of players from that league would take hours to put together with Brownlow medalists & High profile coaches

Richmond had a good forward in Adrian Burgiel (Maffra) on the list who they failed to develope, so he turned his back on AFL after being delisted.
Highly regarded player,  & his brother who turned games on thier own boot. Butchers father considered one of the best Maffra produced & his son following.
Maffra have produced some very good footballers  :thumbsup

Not sure Freo would trade 4 & another top 10 to jump up 1 spot in the draft
Perhaps West Coast would like to jump ahead of Freo, wonder if they can get another Top 10-12 pick for one of their players though

I'm not sure why anyone would want to trade out of the top 3. These early picks are golden. It's probably a bonus for us that Butcher is being scrutinised as he might be available at pick 3. I could live with a big key forward who averages 3 goals per game over his career even when carrying an injury.

If we end up trading with one of top 4 clubs we could always try to upgrade pick 19 to pick 14 or 15 as part of a deal (say part of Tuck trade). Given all the mids available early on another KPP should still be around in the teens. No one can predict the draft order anyway. The last time we tried to claim and read a "weak" draft (2007) during the trade week we found out the hard way that the kids we wanted yet thought would be gone were still available at our 2nd (and could've been 3rd) pick. After seeing the U18s champs I believe there's more than 12 good kids available before it becomes speculative.

Interesting point, but I would do not like the idea of upgrading high picks for a player. I prefer the high pick as it gives greater odds of picking a good player. Sometimes top picks fail but rarely do more than a few in the top 20 fall over.

Yes & Maffra yesterday beat a very strong Moe side coached by Troy Makepeace (Kangaroos) & will play Traralgon next week in another Grand Final appearance

Are you from Maffra?

Talia will slide anyway.

I'm not overly impressed with him, outside a good U/18 champs, not unlike a big key forward we de-listed this year.  :whistle

He's also injury prone and has torn his hamstring tendon most recently I believe.  Thus gone for the season.

Talia will go past pick 15 I reckon, possibly into the 20s.

Give me Carlisle above Talia any day.

Aaron Black has come into major calculations. If he is still there at our R2 selection pick 19 then we should call out his name.
