How good is the mighty Diva?

Yeah just a freak of a horse! The odds were against her but she still won comfortably.

This Diva vs Phar Lap comparison talk is a bit ridiculous. It's like comparing Royce Hart vs Wayne Carey (on-field lol) in footy. Both just the best in their respective era.

There shouldn't even be a comparison IMO.

Diva is a great horse, but she wasn't weighed out of it by 8 kgs like Phar Lap in 1931. I think that it is entirely possible that if Phar Lap had of carried no more than 60 instead of 68, stayed in Australia and not died aged 5, he would have won multiple cups. People are going on about Diva backing up from the Cox Plate, but Phar Lap won on all 4 days of the carnival in 1930.

I would have liked to have seen Diva go overseas for all of this year to prove herself on foreign ground.

Isn't it a sad coincidence that on a day when one of the worlds greatest horses was triumphant, another, Best Mate, had a heart attack and died.

Comparing the two is like comparing Jack Titus (who IMO looks like an alien on the Richmond "past greats" section) and Richo!

Both champion goalkickers for the club, but played generations apart.

Horseracing has changed much over the past 70 years, as has footy.

A fairer comparison would be to Sunline, even though Sunline was more of a 1600/2000m horse.

I like the form of Mandela out of the Geelong Cup.

Won very easily like Oliver did on Media Puzzle in the Geelong Cup, and then went on to win the Melbourne Cup.

Has been bought over from New Zealand especially for the cup and has had a good lead up to the race with solid work since the start of April and being freshened for 2-3 weeks between races.

I have followed Activation through the carnival also. Was a good run just behind Tawqeet in the Metrop and also the Caulfield Cup, so i think i will be backing the both of them.

Also taking a flexi boxed first 4 and hoping for some roughies  :thumbsup

Can someone inform me of this new betting type where you can just go the field for a trifecta and not have to pay the full amount but you get like a percentage of the ticket...as you can see i am an experienced gambler. ;D

Its called Flexi betting Ramps and it applies to other bet types also.

I think the best way to describe it is if you want to place a bet trifecta, quaddie, first 4 etc and when you have these multiples type of bets the costs add up very quickly. So if the full value of your bet comes to $100 (make it even for example sake) and you only want to put $10 on the bet then you are only entitled to 10% of the dividend if you happen to win.

So if it pays $1000, you would get $100 back for your $10.

I hope this makes sense.

Great way to bet  :thumbsup

Ramps,

it woudl cost $720 to do a boxed trifecta for 10 horses.

24 would be huge, not even worth thinking about.

if you picked out 10 horses and put $72 on it you would get 10%, maybe pick 6 chances and 4 rouchies.

So it's Activation for me :rollin

And because Boss is riding it - I think Zipping is worth a look

And just on aside regarding the above ............. I know absolutely NOTHING about horse racing  :help ;D
