My guess:

Elevated - Nahas (2 yr contract), Silvester (1 yr contract).
Staying - Browne, Gilligan, Gourdis.

Not that I would do this but I'm guessing Nahas and Browne to be promoted. The new mature rookie rules sounds like it will save Silvester for one more year. Gourdis and Gilligan to stay on the rookie list.

Small forward Robin Nahas and ruckman Andrew Browne have been elevated to the senior list after making their debuts in 2009.

I'm very happy with Browne being elevated.  That tells me that the club see a lot of potential in him and confirms my opinion of his potential.  I will not be surprised in the least if he is a regular senior ruckman by season's end.   :thumbsup

Both given 2-year deals.

I knew Browne was going to be promoted but I'm surprised he has been in some ways to be honest. No doubt he has raw talent as a ruck and is a big boy at 205cm tall which suits the modern ruckman but his kicking is still iffy to be handing out 2-year contracts. I didn't see any harm if we had kept him on our rookie list and let him develop for another year before promoting him. We could have picked up another kid in the National draft rather than wait until pick 40 in the rookie draft - a gap of almost 50 selections in between.

Can Browne actually ruck, ie give the mids first use of the ball through smart tap work?

Yes he can I think that will improve alot more with Lade on board

Also defensively he is very very good (eg dropping back in the hole)

Dare I say it he is a better long term prospect than Angus Graham IMHO

Thanks WP. Yeah I think Lade will make a difference to the development of the ruck stock. From what I saw of Graham he showed a bit of promise before he did his ankle, so I hope your right about Browne.

So people picked Nahas and Browne to get the nod.

But no one picked Sylvester to get the chop which is surprising given he was a long time rookie and either you make it or you dont on the rookie list.

No one seems too surprised.

The question for next year is will Gourdis and Gilligan go forward or backwards?  I hope they both go forward but you never know.  Gilligan is small and Gourdis has been there for two years already, you'd have to think he'd need to make the list next year or be gone.

Well done to Browne. Would be great if he kicks on. Good lump of a lad.

Would love to see Gilligan make it.

Big Browney is very clever for a big fella.  Good smarts and solid decision making.  Handy dropping in the hole and taking a mark up forward.  His challenge is to work on his tank and mobility to get up and down better. Secondly he needs to work on the length of his kicking.  He is not at all confident with set shots and hands off a lot.

Already better that Gus.  Has a shot at being a decent ruck.

It will be only be Gilligan's 2nd year so there is a lot of upside/possibilities there. First positive is he will get to do a full pre-season

2010 will be Gourdis' 3rd year in the system. Would think at an absolute minimum the goal has to be for him to play the entire season in the Coburg 1st, therby (if his form warrants it) creating an opportunity to be promoted to senior list
