Mitch Thorp

Delisted today. Hawks agreed to cut him from his contract which had a year to run. Pick 6 in 2006 draft IIRC.

Hardwick would have indepth knowledge on whether Thorp's injuries are career threatening/ending or not.

Lots of unseen potential and ability there but as with Jesse Smith you would need the medicos to give him a good looking over. Going by Hawks fans Thorp was soft and a bit of a ratbag showing disrespect towards their coaches. If that's true then Hardwick would obviously be the best judge.

Fair chance Hawthorn might have that knowledge too.   :-\

Allegedly in trade week we tried to swap Patto for Thorp but the Hawks wanted as swap of our pick 19 for their 39 as well so it fell through.

Just like Smith's ankle, we'd need to know that his hip problems are over, both are just as career threatening. If he walked out with a year to go you'd think he had an offer from elsewhere. I'd be happy to consider him if we thinks he's a half decent chance to get fit enough to play. I'd suggest he'll nominate for the National Draft.

Its Hardwicks decision. If he is chosen with say 51 in the National Draft or our pick in the PSD then we can assume the coach has made his choice. We should back in the new coach. He is a new coach, its his career, and Id doubt hed be taking massive risks at this stage.

If we tried to trade for him then Hardwick must think his fitness isn't an issue, or is at least worth the punt
Hopefully Melbourne commit to someone in the PSD to give us the first live pick, that way if we want him and he's happy to come to Richmond (given his close mates from Tassie in Hislop & Riewoldt are playing for us) then we can get him to nominate for the PSD only
