Mitch reached 50 career games and finished as the Tigers' leading goalkicker for the year with 41 goals as a midsized forward. His best of 5 goals came against his old side in round 12.

He'd go missing. I want to see him kick at least 2-3 goals a week

Yeah, agree WP, I think Morton is one guy who will greatly improve or disappear very quickly under Hardwick.

For a recycled player....Mitch has been a great pick up for the Tigers.

78 goals in 37 games is testimony to that.

Mitch was only goal-less once in 2009 (rd 6 SCG) but had 7 games where he could manage only 1 goal.

I thought his 5 goal haul against WCE in rd 12 was a bit tarnished considering he played the whole game on Tyson Stenglien.

His "brain fade" against Port ruined what I thought was our teams best performance of the year.

Mitch and his fellow forwards were crucified by the appalling lack of inside 50s late in the season.

I gave Mitch 7/10 for season 09 and I think he deserves credit for fighting out side his weight division all year.

Gave him a 4, in a team like the Tigers with no real forward structure or forwards standing up this year and with Richo gone, blind Freddy could have won the leading goal kicker.

He needs to stand up and be more accountable for entire games and for consecutive games, like about 22 games. I thought he dropped his head and faded out of many games this year when he should have taken them on.

He really needs to become a N Brown type of player when Brown was in his prime, he needs to become more versatile and play out of the midfield on occasions when our regular mids need a rest forward. He was originally recruited as a fwd/mid type of player and he needs to realise that goal, he left WC because he didn't get enough game time and he wanted a crack in the centre.

Lets hope he really comes along in leaps and bounds, I really like him as a player and he could be anything under Hardwick and co.

A 4 rating is overly harsh IMO.

I think Mitch received more pressure that what you would normally expect from a midsized forward because he was, for the majority of the year, our most dangerous forward. This reminds me of when Williams was the best forward the Hawks had. Just shouldn't be the case. Mid to small forwards should be there as crumbers, second options, blockers and to apply defensive pressure not be the teams most dangerous leading forward.

What will improve Mitch's game is if Riewoldt, Post or even Richo (rarely  ) can take the focus off him and allow him the second or even third best defender so he can find space. When we have many options all forwards benefit but when we only have one...well we saw the results over the last decade haven't we

Totally agree, 4 is way to harsh! Any mid-size forward who kicks 40 goals at least deserves a pass for the year.
Sometimes we look at the negatives in players to much rather than the positives.

Ok I will go to a 6 but my comments remain, regardless of the amount of goals he kicked my score is based on my previous comments. To add to that he needs to become more dynamic and get pumped and reved up when he kicks goals, jeering the team up and inspiring the rest of the forwards around him. When he does that and kicks goals he waill get an 8 -9 off me.

The positives are many with this bloke but he hides them himself, when they come to the surface... look out he will be a dominant forward/player but at the moment he looks like an introvert on the field......... get excited man!!!
