RICHMOND'S live selections in the NAB AFL Draft are picks three, 19, 35, 44, 51, 67, 71 and 78. Who are the best players chosen in those spots in the history of the draft?

3
CHRIS JUDD (WEST COAST - 2001)

Judd achieved almost every accolade with West Coast and was one of the game's greats even before he crossed to Carlton at the end of the 2007 season. The 2004 Brownlow medallist won West Coast's best and fairest twice (2004, 2006) and has already achieved the same at Carlton (2008, 2009). A premiership medal (2006), Norm Smith Medal (2005) and four All-Australian jumpers round out his achievements. Alan Didak (Collingwood - 2000) and 200-gamers Steven Febey (Melbourne - 1986) and Graham Wright (Collingwood - 1987) are other first-class No.3 draft picks.

19
BRAD GREEN (MELBOURNE - 1999)

Although Barry Hall (St Kilda - 1995) is the best player selected at No.19, he played just 88 games before shifting to the Sydney Swans. Green has played 198 games for the Demons. David Mundy (Fremantle - 2003) has played 108 matches and should continue to extend that run for several years yet.

35
MARK CHAFFEY (RICHMOND - 1996)

The tenacious Tiger played 166 matches from 1997-06 and was the best pick at No.35. Next came Stuart Anderson (Kangaroos - 1990), who made 61 appearances for the Roos including the 1996 premiership, before adding nine matches with Fremantle in 1998. Aaron James (Collingwood - 1993) played just 23 of his 54 games from this pick and Chris Bond (Carlton - 1989) produced 22 of his 163 games from No.35.

44
JOSH HUNT (GEELONG - 2000)

Hunt gets the nod, having played the most games from No.44, including the 2007 premiership. Although Heath Scotland (Collingwood - 1998) is the standout AFL player, only 53 of his 159 AFL matches came from this number before being traded to Carlton.

51
DION WOODS (FREMANTLE - 2000)

A tall, athletic defender, Woods played the most matches directly from being drafted at No.51, notching up 59 appearances from 2001-05 and earning a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in 2001.

67
BYRON PICKETT (NORTH MELBOURNE - 1996)

Two fine indigenous players, Pickett and Graham Johncock (Adelaide - 2000), vied for selection No.67, but an AFL Rising Star award, premiership and All-Australian selection with the Kangaroos gave Pickett the edge over the Crows defender.

71
BRIAN LAKE (WESTERN BULLDOGS - 2001)

One of the game's elite full-backs, Lake continued to build on his game in 2009, winning All-Australian selection for the first time. Lake, a superb mark, won the Bulldogs' best and fairest in 2007.

ANDREW KELLAWAY (RICHMOND - 1997)
A Richmond supplementary list player before drafted, Kellaway became a highly respected backman, winning the club's best-and-fairest and All-Australian selection in 2000.

78
RICHIE VANDENBERG (HAWTHORN - 1997)

Vandenberg is the standout No.78 pick, playing in 145 matches from 1998-07. He also captained Hawthorn in his final three years. Ty Zantuck (Richmond - 1999) was the next best player chosen at No.78. He made 68 appearances for Richmond from 2000-04, before crossing to Essendon for one season in 2005. This pick was not utilised in five consecutive AFL Drafts from 2000-04.

Just shows how hit and miss this pick is. Vandenburg was a star compared to Zantuck a psycho.  Long way from first to second.......
