Claremont has appointed Mark Merenda as coach of their reserves side for next year.

Merenda is currently the Royals Youth Development Officer and is expected to see out the year in the position before taking up the Tigers post.

The Merenda move has come as a coup for Claremont and somewhat of a surprise for East Perth where he has also previously coached the reserves side.

Merenda and current Claremont coach Ashley Prescott were former teammates at Richmond.

The Tigers have appointed Brad Wira as assistant coach to Prescott.

Former Subiaco player Jay Burton has been appointed assistant colts coach of Claremont to Matt Angus.

Burton returns to the metropolitan area after spending four years in Albany with employment.
