Small Business Software Applications
« on: December 04, 2009, 01:21:27 PM »
I have to find a simple easy to use small business software that can do the following

- Bookkeeping (Important)
- Small Payroll
- Stock Control/Inventory (Important)
- Invoicing
- Assist with Credit Card transactions
- GST Calculations
- Import related (preferred)

I know about Myob and Quicken! Are there any other programs that anyone can recommend.

Ramps I dont know of any others that i could recommend. I use MYOB and find it not too bad. The only recommendation I would make, is unless you really know hat you are doing get your accountant to do the initial setup for you, whatever you use. Also, if you do get something besides the two you mentioned, make sure your accountant has that software as well.

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

I've used Quicken Quickbooks and it is very good. IMO better than MYOB.

Depending on what level of stock control is important Ramps.  There is a software package called ITMS. It will do pretty much everything you require except the CC calcs.
Although most places i know that use it dont actually do their bookeeping on it, and also use MYOB/QuickBooks as an export.

From a purely accounting perspective I'd rank MYOB ahead of Quicken Quickbooks (only slightly)

MYOB meets all Australian & Int'l Accounting Standards, which means it is Aust Corp Law complient, which to an accountant is a godsend  ;D

As with most accounting packages the key is taking the time to get the set up right

And I reckon Al's tip about getting your accountant involved is a good one  :thumbsup
