Hopefully Grimes plays. Otherwise it’s going to be a pretty new setup in defence.

Grimes is playing.

Lamberts one strength is his elite running ability.  When he has a bung hip then he is borderline best 22.   Last year he was well below his best.

Similarly I'm not a big fan of Graham - our worst clearance mid by some margin given his lack of pace over the first 5 metres.

“Dylan’s responded really well. We probably thought he’d be in some form of doubt for the round 1 game but he trained strongly Sunday and he’ll hopefully train strongly again (on Tuesday),” Hardwick said.

Grimesy did all the training session today bar the one tackling drill. If they are trying to protect his thumb from tackling then I see him playing key position defence on Curnow (presuming Tarrant gets McKay) where Grimesy will mostly do punching/spoiling the ball with his other hand (right hand) as well as intercept marking. You can't play on a small forward if you can't trust your ability to grab with your hand quickly to tackle.

"Dylan trained today (Tuesday) and also on Sunday. So, Dylan's completed the full session today, it looks like he'll potentially be available for Thursday night. But, we'll do a final tick off with the medical team, Dylan and the match committee and assess that."

Grimes on SEN this morning said he's playing Thursday night (provided he gets through the light Captain's Run training session).

Jonathan Brown on On The Couch reckons he's heard that Grimes' hammy is a bad one and he's going to miss 8 weeks.

Well it was a matter of time until his hammy went again. He really had a terrific run !
