Is the host family in Essendon, near Windy Hill, or was that just a temp measure?

No idea where the host family lives.

Chutney didn't say and I didn't ask  ;D

Relton eyes Tiger debut in week 2 of the preseason (NT News)

Relton eyes Tiger debut

NT News
February 13th, 2010

RICHMOND'S Top End recruit Relton Roberts has his eyes firmly set on Round 2 of the NAB Cup competition.

If the Tigers can beat Hawthorn in Tasmania tonight, the "Ngandi Storm" will make his debut as a Tiger against the winner of tomorrow's Western Bulldogs-Brisbane clash in Canberra.

The former Wanderers goalkicker narrowly missed a berth in tonight's side. Originally named in a 29-man squad, he was one of three players cut from the team. The NAB Cup allows for six players on the interchange bench and two additional substitutes.

``I'll have to wait another couple of weeks but I'm happy with that,'' he said. ``I'm pretty excited about playing in the NAB Cup, even if I have to wait for it.''

Roberts has made Punt Road his new home, with fitness and learning from the club's experienced players his main priority.

Now living with former Essendon goalkicker Dean Rioli, a contented Roberts is ready to pull on the black and gold jumper on matchdays.

``I've met Ben Cousins and had a talk to him about the AFL and what's required to make it,'' he said.

``Ben's a good bloke who leads by example, he's a role model for the new players around the club with his work ethic as well.''

Ngandi Storm ...  ;D you gotta stuffen kidding me. He hasnt played a game. I reiterate, these aboriginal lads need to give up the dodgy nicknames and the turtle meat and just play. When he shows us he can play then he can call himself whatever he likes. I mean fair dinkum, Maurice Rioli earnt Mr Magic ... but this new generation is out of control with the marketing hype.

I was going to post this comment Ramps:  "Pretty sure the media gave him this one Ramps, not the kids fault." and quote this article from the RFC site posted earlier in this thread:
"He also possesses a great turn of speed when playing forward to blow away his opponents that has seen him dubbed by his Wanderers team mates and opponents’ as the “Barunga Bullet”- after the small community of Barunga that he hails from."

Then..................I kept reading the posts and found this from a NT News article quoted later in the thread:
"RICHMOND recruit Relton Roberts has discarded the Barunga Bullet tag in favour of the "Ngandi Storm".
The 23-year-old was dubbed the Barunga Bullet by NT News sportswriters because of his express pace and strong links with the Katherine community.
But he wants to establish a bigger connection with his family's country at Ngukurr, 200km to the east of Barunga.
"That's my tribe, where my grandmother and her family comes from," Roberts said."
"So I'm now the Ngandi Storm, in respect for my people from Ngukurr in the Roper River country."

I really hope this kid can get fit, at 23 he would be an asset to our side , he has the size and smarts to do what it takes, he could be the find of the year.

All he did was change the nickname given to him by others to truly reflect where he comes from. I wouldnt read too much into it besides a bit of cultural pride.

Besides, as Skyhooks told us, nothing wrong with a bit of ego  :)

Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

It's a bit of a mouthful to sing out when he gets the ball. Needs a slogan to go with it. Easier to just yell out Relts. They called him 'bullet' on the K-Rock commentary.

Roberts returns to the Territory

Richmond recruit Relton Roberts has returned home to the Northern Territory for an indefinite period.

“Relton has returned home to be with his family,” Richmond General Manager of Football Craig Cameron said.

“Relton has found the relocation to Melbourne difficult and both he and the Club felt he needed some time away to consider if he wants to pursue a football career.”

Roberts has played two games for the Tigers this season - the season opener against Carlton and the Round 3 loss to Sydney.
