Interesting, I am the first to suggest our recruiting equal worse with Fremantle
Blair Harley, Francis Jackson and Richardson have made poor recruiting decisions as they have focused on safe bets that are outside smaller runners and C and D grade players who struggled to get a game at their own club but were expected to become A and B graders at Richmond

I believe we need an experienced recruiter with a proven track record to Manager recruiting and make football smart decisions
The others can have their stats and therories but decisions need football smarts. Neil Balme is one , Paul Roo's another that fit the bill along with a few other others from opposition clubs.

Both should be frogmarched out of the club and sued for incompetence

Well, did they get it right?
It would seem I was wrong about them being frogmarched out of the club.
I think kudos may be due.
Mind you I think Balmes and Caracellas influnce may have played a large part as well??

Are we supposed to forget Hamspud? Yarran?

He should've been sacked for the Spud decision alone.

I'm sure Hawthorn took a punt on an indigenous kid recently who's now behind bars .
Collingwood are questioning their decision to draft Mayne now

All clubs have their hamspuds

Yeah how about those dumb Hawthorn recruiters...what with only four flags since 2008  to show for their efforts...

They've lived off their list management from 10 years ago and leveraged free agency off the back
of their success 7 years ago.
Let's see how their list management plays out over the next few years.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Yes and they did it beautifuly....no club should ever rest on their laurels but they're one that's arguably earnt the right to....and I for one certainly hope they do...preferably for at least three decades while we shyte out flags and gf appearances...
