Tigers leave no stone unturned in pre-season By Scott Gullan
Fri 18 Dec 2009, Page 112 AT 6AM yesterday Richmond players arrived at Punt Rd with no idea what was in store for the next 48 hours.
They were then split into five teams, handed a set of instructions and told to figure out how to get to the desired destination.
The first task was to get to Southern Cross station, where they boarded a train for Geelong.
When they arrived there they were met by a fleet of mini-buses driven by the coaching staff.
The trick here was the players had to figure out what was next.
That was a series of gruelling exercises at Bells Beach, near Torquay, followed by a 10km bike ride around the hills behind Lorne.
And more is to come today, but they won't find out what until they wake up.
``It started out like a bit of an Amazing Race where they had to work out a lot of cryptic clues about where they had to go and what they had to do,'' Richmond football operations manager Ross Monaghan said.
``It has been a great communication exercise, they have worked hard and had a bit of fun along the way.''
If anyone can scan in the pics it would be much appreciated ...Pic Caption: For whom the Bells tolls: young Tiger Andrew Collins (left) feels the strain as teammates led by Dean Polo charge down Bells Beach yesterday under orders from coach Damien Hardwick (far right).
